It kept repeating itself and I asked one of the neighbors what was going on. He just laughed and said oh that's NHRA nationals going on over at Pacific Raceways. After that, I had to go see it. As luck would have it I worked for a local staffing business that worked with the raceway. We were responsible for flagging on motocross days and cleanup at the venue during big events like the NHRA nationals. The internal staff was great to work with. These folks work tirelessly to make sure that the people who came to these events got their moneys worth. The track was well maintained, and there was quite adequate parking for everyone that showed up. What was great to see was between races. The NHRA teams would be tearing down an engine and rebuilding it in less than an hour. You could stand there a few feet from the crew as they were working on it and see it up close and personal. Even if you're not erasing enthusiast, this is a great time for the entire family. I highly recommend it.

When running this track the thing that struck me was that even if you have an "off" you're not as likely to destroy your car - the runoff areas look pretty well designed. More importantly for me it made for some cool photo opportunities.

There are junior classes available for purchase online (a week long camp), and you need to pay to race on racenights. I personally am one of the Juniors at the track so I know all about it. For spectating races, there is no cost except for Friday Night Racing. It is very fun to watch because there are multiple different categories of speed and group sizes, including Juniors. The parking lot charges $1 for your stay. If you're looking for some fun at the end of the day, the velodrome is the place to go. The track and facilities itself seemed kept up. The prices were great once you got in the gate--$5 for a 24 oz. Blue Moon. $7 for a chicken burrito that was quite filling. Couldn't complain on that front. Parking was $5. That definitely warrants a complaint. All up and down the west coast, the sprint tracks I go to are free parking. What gives with $5 for this place? The events themselves were quite sad though that weekend. A pretty small number of cars (especially night two). They were running the NWWT Wingless Sprints and ASCS Northwest Region Winged. There was a very small turn out for the Winged sprints, which was disappointing, and made for a short night of racing. Rumor has it, the new promoter is the main cause for the decline in turn-out, but that is just hearsay on my part, and I cannot back that up. Could have been a lot of them were at Skagit that weekend as well. Lastly, the track program was a rip off. About 20 pages of advertisements before you even see a sprint car. Pretty limited information, maybe a couple useful pages, and then more ads, and eventually, the back page. Pretty sad excuse of a program. Looked very nascar-oriented as well, which via hearsay is due to the new track promoter as well. All-in-all I would give it an "ok" rating, because it did serve its purpose. I got to go to the races, spend time with my family, and just get out of the house and have a little fun. I still enjoyed myself.
