    Cars and trucks welcome!

NOT SAFE. This review is for the part of the path north of the Arch toward the Chain of Rocks bridge. While the path is marked no vehicles, this is used as an ordinary street by large, fully loaded semi-trucks, pickups, fishermen, illegal trash dumpers, and the people who "sit" in idling cars by the river. There are some bollards to prevent vehicles, but they are typically in the down position and useless. Nearly being run over several times by cars going at least 40 mph is not fun. With wind noise it is hard to hear them and you don't expect speeding cars behind you on a bike path. If you use this path at least go in a group so they can haul your maimed carcass to your loved ones. This could be a great trail with the nice views, new pavement on the north side, and frequent wildlife sightings, but it is just too stressful. Last week, somebody had a lit campfire on the paved path to include camp chairs. You'll also find broken glass and loose gravel common in several of the more industrial areas. I don't get it. Be careful!

Beautiful trail I use for biking but it's great for walking, skating and running as well. This trail is about 11.8 miles one direction from the Arch to Chain of Rocks bridge. I personally do 14 miles round trip from the Arch to Riverview and back. The hills along this route are AMAZING for both an extraordinary workout as well as a taste of the city's history. At each rest stop there is a small piece of literature to take in. The flood wall is filled with culture rich graffiti and murals designed by students for lessons in history. Riverfront Trail runs alongside a portion of the city's north side and the Mississippi River. You'll likely see plenty of manufacturing companies, scrap metal yards, fishing, RV's, and even our medium security facility from the heights of this trail. To see the sunset at this point is next to breathtaking...I highly recommend it. Thank me later. ~Christy

I wish I could recommend this trail, but having run on it for 6 miles and finding 2 water fountains not working we were disappointed. Additionally a majority of the stretch we ran(starting at Union power) there was a 12 ft tall concrete wall separating us from the river...makes me question the name, though I guess it is technically "near" the riverfront. If you want to draw people to the trail to improve the overall health of the city, you should fix these issues and we might come back.

This is an 11 mile bike trail which ends at the Chain of Rock Bridge. Great scenery along the way. The trail was dotted with families pushing strolls, bikers like myself and a few photographers. Great place to spend a Saturday.

This was our first visit and so we parked in the lot that gps took us to and then followed the signs for the hiking trail. We were impressed with the number of hikers and mountain bikers out and about. What I really enjoyed about this park is that the trails are all easy to follow and loop around so that you can choose any direction to walk. We started with the shorter hike and walked to the overlook which was so pretty! We spent some time just watching the river and then decided to try another trail for a bit. Honestly, it was really nice to be outside. Baxter was so happy to be able to play in the leaves and we all got really excited because we saw a bunch of deer while we were out walking! Of course, when we saw them, we all stopped and just let the deer have their space to get where they were going. The loop that we completed was about 3 miles and I really appreciated how easy it was to navigate the park. We did not get over to the cave during this visit, but will plan to visit again on another warm-ish day so that we can explore the other trails.

Fir those who want more of a "nature" feel there are some hiking and biking trails tucked away near the walking trails, which in my opinion, could use better trail markers. The hiking trails are still close to the border if the walking trails, so you don't go far into the wooded areas. My favorite part of the park were the caves, as soon as you enter the bottom of the trail where the caves are you can feel the cool air from the caves. It was great to check out and I wish the trails offered more scenic views in addition to this.
