Two Words to describe this place: A E S T H A T I C and D R E A M Y Dog Sledding was on my bucket list but I had no idea it was done anywhere near Toronto, and here we are just 3 hours drive from GTA! The road to get to this place is not maintained in winter, please don't take your car there unless you have winter tires! Once you get to this place, you will be greeted by genuinely friendly and caring people! Brad (lead dog sledder) was amazing, dogs were well trained and very friendly. He walked us through the instructions on how to dog sled and stuff, it was quite a long ride and was well worth the money. We went right after a very snowy day and it was all picture perfect(can be seen on through my photos). Would definitely recommend to anybody who wants to dog sled.

My wife and I decided to do the North Ridge Dog Sledding experience yesterday. What a great experience we had. It was a super cold, snowy day so please dress accordingly. You WILL need snow pants, warm winter boots and definitely some heat packs for your mittens and boots (especially the driver of the sled). For the driver, your feet are slightly off the the sled (for balance) so your boots will probably gather snow and ice on the trail, which is why I recommend heat packs and warm boots. The trail itself is absolutely beautiful. Filled with hills, sky sight lines, tall trees, turns and flat surfaces too. The driver CANNOT do anything except control the sled so if you're planning on taking pics let the passenger do it. As I was the driver of the sled, I would recommend someone who is not in great shape or a senior not drive the sled. It takes quite a bit of strength, balance and endurance. I'm quite sore today after our dog sledding ride yesterday, but then again we opted for the longer afternoon sled (which was around 3 hours or more). The owners/operators are great! Brad, the instructor/owner is a straight forward guy who doesn't mess around. I've seen a couple of questionable reviews about him but I understand where he's coming from with his bluntness and stern instruction. Hey, it's very real that you, your passenger, other riders, and the dog themselves could get seriously injured during this activity. It's not a ride at an amusement park with seat belts where some operator can stop the ride if something goes wrong. If you don't listen and pay attention to Brad, you will probably get into trouble (I almost lost control and flipped at one point). Remember the dogs are pretty powerful in speed and energy. That said, omg, my wife and I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. I would recommend this to my friends and family and as a "must do" winter activity to experience at least once in your life. Thanks North Ridge Ranch, what great memories!
Fantastic experience, beautiful surroundings... if you're in Huntsville, this is a must! If you're prone to getting cold, stay in the warming area until it is time to go. There is a lengthy training session, so you want to stay as warm as possible just prior to that. The training is worthwhile, getting you up to speed on what is required to lead your dog team. Saying that, it's pretty straight forward once you get started. You're pretty much riding the sled brake the whole time. This not only controls speed, but also keeps your sled aligned with your dog team. Highly recommended! read more

I had read some reviews and was slightly concerned about whether bringing a 7 and 9 year old was a good idea given some comments about Brad. Anyone who has an issue with his disposition 1) doesn't understand that the safety of his dogs is paramount, which is something I respect deeply, 2) he has a business to run to ensure participant safety and 3) grow up - he's got a gentle assertiveness, nothing more. Really not sure what anyone could possibly expect in a safety lesson for something that most people have never done before - balloons and confetti cannons? In any case, from the minute we arrived we felt beyond welcomes. The dogs are also so well taken care of, clean pens and the dogs are full of life and energy. The trail is something out of a fairy tale. And thanks to the excellent instruction, I felt safe and in control at all times. This is something I didn't know was on my bucket list and I feel so blessed to have gotten to participate in this once in a lifetime experience with my kids. read more
What a great experience! Truly unique. I went on a 3-hour tour with my wife and two kids in the middle of February. The Owners were very polite and patient, especially with little kids. The adventure through the woods was incredible and so much fun, I had never been on anything like it before. I was also surprised how calm the dogs were around small kids. My two year old wasn't afraid at all! After the tour, we were able to hang out with the dogs and walk around. Make sure to dress warmly. You move surprisingly fast through the forest. read more

We booked a half-day tour and it was disappointing. The woman owner was nice and the man owner, Brad, was terrible and aggressive. The dogs were very excited and kinda out of control tho, same as the owner. There are a number of things that were not right: (1) the dogs were skinny and hungry, they were shaking. (2) Brad was really aggressive, he was screaming at the couple and the woman in front of us. He was just yelling throughout the tour and he kept stopping and yelling at them. It was not a good tour and we don't recommend it. read more

Cannot recommend this place enough! It is truly a bucket list experience. They truly care for their dogs and treat them as their number one priority. It is a must have for dog lovers, nature lovers and anyone who wants to experience the northern Ontario outdoors! read more

First the dogs are clearly cold, they barely have thick fur to handle the weather, then the fact they lived chained up for their lives with no real mental stimulation or affection. And the fact people exploit dogs for profit is horrible. Worst place read more

PLEASE don't go here! For all of you who have booked a sled dog tour be sure to go see where these dogs live & take a good look at the extreme cruelty these dogs have to endure their whole lives! STOP supporting this cruelty! read more
