Shows are free of charge, but afterwards they'll solicit donations: all donations go to Camp Oochigeas, a summer camp on Lake Muskoka for children living with cancer. Loosely arranged around a flimsy storyline, the show is good old-fashioned, super-cheesy fun. You can either take your boat up to the show and anchor it far enough out to stay out of the way of the performers, or you can spread a blanket on the hillside at Windsor Park. We prefer watching from the boat as you don't have to contend with the massive crowds in the park, and you can drink your Alexander Keith's much more freely... Tho the storyline changes each summer -- storybook characters one year, Harry Potter another, the Olympics in '08, 007 this year -- you can always count on the following: *People will ski barefoot; *Girls will ski holding the tow rope handle with one foot; *There will be a pyramid; *Someone will ski on snow skis; *Someone will ski on a canoe paddle; *Folks will go off the ski ramp; *Someone will wakeboard; *Someone will hydrofoil (my personal fave); *The emcee will be over-the-top with Velveeta commentary. It's the same every year, but I think that's why we can't stay away.

The service here is consummately professional, too. The attendants are always on the dock well in advance of your arrival to assist you in docking and perform their mundane duties with a smile. But in the last couple years they totally downsized the actual marina store in favor of pushing ski boats and launches for sale on their docks. Don't get me wrong, I love to eye-eff a good ski boat or launch, but when I'm waiting for the boat to be fueled I also like to ogle maps and candy and shorts made out of towels -- you know, posh stuff. This year they've also concentrated on adding an art gallery to the marina...an art gallery! Attached to a gas station! With one Sun and Ski outlet *already* dedicated to the sale of boats, I wish this Sun and Ski outlet would remain true to its roots, slum it with the rest of the Muskoka marinas and sell me some Corn Nuts.

Nestled beautifully along the river in a deeply shaded pine forest, this 60-acre park effortlessly captures the pure magic of Christmas, even in the middle of July. It strikes the perfect balance for parents with younger kids, offering over 30 festive, well-maintained rides that are exciting for children without being overwhelming. The true highlights are the interactive experiences. Meeting Santa in his summer gear and seeing the real reindeer creates lifelong memories for the little ones. Classic attractions like the Candy Cane Express train and the river boat cruise offer a relaxing, nostalgic pace, while the newer Yeti Trek coaster adds just the right amount of thrill for older kids. What sets it apart from massive corporate theme parks is its classic, laid-back charm, clean facilities, and incredibly friendly staff dressed as helpful elves. It never feels rushed, and the natural forest canopy provides excellent shade on hot summer afternoons. It is a wonderfully wholesome, nostalgic, and high-quality day trip that leaves both kids and adults smiling.
