You really can't go wrong here. Rented a canoe from their Nobel location (White Squall Paddling Centre -53 Carling Bay Rd.) a few weekends ago and couldn't of been happier. Very much has a mom&pop feel but was pleasantly surprised with the amount and variety of stuff they have, it's basically a mini MEC in the middle of the wilderness. You're even able to try out the boats before you buy one since they are right on the lake. The guy helping us (I think his name was Jack?) was very helpful, he walked through canoeing 101 with my novice friends, and after talking to us about our plans suggested a alternate route out on Georgian bay that saved us a ton of paddling. Plus they have a chicken coup in the backyard - how cool is that? Also be sure to check out the 'offices' if you have to go. While we were browsing for the pants, we decided to get the binding adjusted on her skis and the gentleman (Bob) was so helpful with tweaking my daughter's gears to make her first day back on the slopes as easy and enjoyable as possible. It's shops like this that I miss in Toronto, with that extra attention to customers experience and willingness to go that extra mile to make it great. There huge sizes left like XXL or XXXLs but not much in the S which we wanted primarily. There was a lot of camping gear and small accessories. The cooler stuff that I haven't seen before included like a pop up tent that doesn't require staking! There were different sizes for these but nothing like the 8 room colossal tents that you can walk through. You can still pick up a lot of smaller things like fountains, food storage bags, waterproof blankets, and other ancillary items.

Anyone who has an issue with his disposition 1) doesn't understand that the safety of his dogs is paramount, which is something I respect deeply, 2) he has a business to run to ensure participant safety and 3) grow up - he's got a gentle assertiveness, nothing more. Really not sure what anyone could possibly expect in a safety lesson for something that most people have never done before - balloons and confetti cannons? In any case, from the minute we arrived we felt beyond welcomes. The dogs are also so well taken care of, clean pens and the dogs are full of life and energy. The trail is something out of a fairy tale. And thanks to the excellent instruction, I felt safe and in control at all times. This is something I didn't know was on my bucket list and I feel so blessed to have gotten to participate in this once in a lifetime experience with my kids.
