I am a teacher at North Pointe and am finishing up my 9th year here. I am excited to see the wonderful changes that are on the horizon at our school as we get back to the original mission at North Pointe that includes commitment to building strong academic, arts, and athletic programs, while providing activities that appeal to everyone. North Pointe's faculty is committed to providing instruction that meets the needs of all students. The new administrative team has brought positive changes that were felt immediately across campus , as teachers, students, and families alike felt respected and empowered to get back to what we are good at, educating children. I'm excited to see the "New North Pointe" emerge from the challenges that we've faced. I'm looking forward to an exciting 2019-2020 school year. Tonight we attended the North Pointe Prep's musical theater production of 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. It was wonderfully cast and enthusiastically performed. Student actors were talented, student lighting, sound and technical crews were skilled, and the student created sets were beautiful! You could tell that the director taught the students about their craft, and had them fully invested. For parents seeking a school with a strong Theater program for their students, North Pointe is a great option! Well done, Falcon Players! read more

This school is a fraud! When you walk into their lobby, you will see awards that state that they are apart of the top 13 schools in the nation... This is false! My daughter attended here for two years, 7 & 8 grade, and it was a huge mistake and waste of time! All of their funds focus on tech, like TV's, and NOT curriculum! Academics are not very high on their priority list... They are more concerned with "looking cool" by having SCHOOL SHIRTS saying BFD - Big "falcon" deal, or WTF- "We're the Falcons!" So parents, don't be fooled by the glitz and glamor of North Pointe Prep... You will only be hurting your child's chance at a bright future! read more

It's easy to got decent grades when the student isn't challenged. I've dealt with Mr Gow (by email) and he's a condescending prick. It's probably why he refuses to meet in person. I unfortunately learned all of this too late, as both of my children attended this school. Believe the reviews. Do your homework, parents. Don't send your kids here. read more

Sadly no 0 ratings for this school as that's what I would have given it. I was an alumni and let me hit you with the pros and cons of this school. You can take this with a grain of salt but these are from 6 years worth of experience. Bad news first Cons: The former principal(Gow) current staff actually runs the school, the new appointed principal is a facade because he's been getting too much bad attention they had to do something about it. He's such an egotistical person it's actually surprising and gives suspensions out for no reason and makes it seem funny to the students. He acts like he owns the place, punishes students that don't follow the handbook and he, himself doesn't follow the rules.when he's in the wrong he changes the rules to make himself right. Actually walked into a class and held up a picture of a student (female) and called her a liar in front of her peers. Fires good teachers who are reliable because they don't suck his ****. (Excuse my language) pays students to "snitch"(lie) so he can get the students he doesn't like in trouble. Corey Gow his son is like a cocky, copy paste version of his Richard(Gow). He knows his dad runs the school so he practically does whatever he wants. Actually makes fun of the students (myself). This is a case I witnessed where he told an student who was on crutches (didn't have a foot) to RUN back in line and when he took too long to get back in line he yelled at him. Later by other students That work with him, I heard that he made fun of the kid again. The teachers; now the teachers care about the students but those who genuinely want to teach and do things their way get fired. Gow doesn't fire people who don't love to teach he fires those who don't love to teach they way he wants them too. Arts you might think that "ohh look they get 1st place here and there" the reality however isn't too far from the truth. Yes they do get 1st place in possibility the worst divisions and it's done on purpose. One of the arts teachers actually got fired because he got into a better division but lower in the higher division. Another arts teacher got fired because after the performance Gow told the students they were bad and the teacher told him "these are my students and you're not gonna stand there and tell them they did bad in front of me" that's the basis of it. The firing of teachers got so bad they have substitutes for their substitutes. Sports, that's a good joke for this school and I'm going to leave it at that. Science, Some of you might have visited their page and thought "oh cool they do experiments" or at least that's what I thought. Well think again because those are only pictures because the entire year it's just paperwork after paper work. Now you might say "oh but I went to the meet at greet classes and they have microscopes and experimental tools that they use" LOOK CLOSER those are only used to Impress parents once a year. Not even the teachers know what they're doing sometimes and that's not a joke, they'll come to school with the intention of you filling out paperwork based off of a video that's not even related to the class. Weight lifting class/ fitness Now this one struck me the most as I loved taking my health seriously and so I assumed this class would be perfect. Although yes the majority of the class is health related you have the principal/ staff ask the TEACHER to TELL the STUDENTS to do labor work. The students, now the students area can be a bit tricky because there are paid snitches whose sole job is to find and leak information to get the student in trouble. Now you would say " but isn't that a good thing? Shouldn't students be punished for doing bad things?" And I would completely agree with you if the "bad thing" wasn't criticizing a teacher or staff because of the way they handled a situation or student. You could be friends with the students but your going to have the "popular kids" and those are the ones that hang out with Gow and get on his good side. They actually agree with whatever he says and never disagree because he will kick you out. Gow doesn't need a reason to kick people out he can just because he doesn't like you and to think he's the title IX coordinator right now Overall this school is run like a dictatorship/business rather than a school. If you want your children to enjoy their middle/high school sending them here is a big mistake and you shouldn't need to think twice about it. The school started off really well and just went to the shitter as time goes on. If it wasn't based on my situation I would have ditched a long time ago but oh well. Do yourself a favor and don't take your kids here. If you see good ratings here it's because they actually make you as students write good ratings for "free lunches" or another good for the ratings. read more

Not recommended here at this school. At first, you'll think that this school will help the students...basically they don't. They don't care about the students. They're missing a lot of classes! They got no teacher here because mostly all of them quit cause of stress levels. Do you want your kids to get a good education. Stay away from this school! My son has had nothing but a great experience so far. Since attending North Pointe his grades have gone up to 5A's and a B, while taking honors courses. He is happy there and actually wants to be at school! Until that changes I will keep my rating at 5 stars :) read more

My son's gone to this school since the 7th grade and he's now a sophomore, I know the school has some controversy in the media and online but we've had a great experience for 4 years thus far.I have zero safety concerns on the campus. The school has a nice balance of being very strict as far as bulling etc but also having fun and being normal kids/teens. You are expected to check the grades yourself and stay on task and ask your teen regarding upcoming events. The school has made a learning environment fun for kids with Rock Lobster and Spirit week, I mean they go all out! I see students enjoying themselves. The school may not be for everyone, but it's for us! read more

When your child is enrolled, the parent is expected to be subservient to the school and the whims and ego of the principal Mr. Gow. Forget about meeting with some teachers to discuss your child's academic progress or sort out issues. They will "converse" only by email. This is for their convenience and not yours. Parental avoidance (supported by Gow) is preferred. I merely suggested I would shop for another school and my child was dis-enrolled by Gow before the end of the day -without parental signature. STAY AWAY! Instead, go to a school that welcomes parental involvement and contact. read more

My son is in his second year here. He's been to 2 other schools, and tried online school. North Pointe Prep is the perfect fit! We love this school, and the people here. The teachers go above and beyond. My son has missed a lot of days this semester, for medical reasons, and everyone has been so understanding and a couple of his teachers even called to check on him when he was in the hospital. He is able to be successful at this school, instead of constantly melting down trying to do well. This will be our school until he graduates. Their arts program is great, and the activities keep the kids involved and happy. They have such a great mix of students. They were even on the recent Top 15 schools in AZ. read more

I just have to put my two cents in after reading all these reviews. My 3 children have been at the Pointe schools for the last 8 years, previously going to a public institute which was by no means a "bad school." It was although overcrowded with very informal lesson plans and I felt like my kids were not getting the attention they needed. I was told from the principal that the teachers had to focus more on those that were not thriving so that they could make their numbers and that my kids were doing well so I shouldn't worry. So you see, administration can fail for anyone anywhere, not just this school. I've not had to deal directly with the administration at North Pointe but then again my kids have never given me a reason to do so, and I don't feel like they have ever failed me. In fact they backed my kids up a few times. Before you ask, no they are not part of the "popular crowd"....just good students who follow the policies. I like the strict environment North Pointe provides. It's important to teach that now because even in adult life we have to follow rules. And yes, the school has had some bad press in the past, but really is it any worse than what we have heard about Hamilton or any of the other 10 schools I could name in the valley? Our bad press what a shirt so come on, get real! What I can say I have noticed is most of those that have complained about this school are either disgruntled students or parents of students...again something that can happen at any school, and yes they are entitled to their own review but there are always two sides to a story. My kids love it there and I love that they are prospering while having fun. And it is a true statement that our sports is not very good but that's not what the school is focused on so not even an important point. But it is false to say that the pictures you see online is not what is actually happening in the school. I see the work that my kids put in daily and it's not all paperwork. It is definitely worth scheduling an appointment to take a tour and meet with them to gather your own opinion of the school. read more

If you are involved with your child's education this is not the school for you. I have two girls, one goes to public school and the other (step daughter) to North Pointe. I get constant communication from the public school on all the activities through out the year and what to expect at year end. I get no communications from the school on any of the activities. Once you sign all the enrollment papers you the parent are ignored. Everything goes through the student and all you can do is hope that the information is correct. When there are test and the student fails they can retake the test. My step daughter says she does process of elimination since the test is multiple choice and usually can bring it up to a passing grade without having to study. The public school does the same except the grade caps at 70%. I've only had my step daughter for the past year and a half. She was failing school so I got involved and it's been an up hill climb. She is now getting A's and B's and I'm exhausted. I could go on an on, but the end of the story is we are switching her to a public school next year! I want great things for my daughters and I'm willing to put in the time, but I need a school that will work with me. North Ponte is not that school. read more
