The staff was very welcoming from the start, which meant a lot to us as new parents to the school. I really like the study materials and resources they provide for the kids. You can tell they care about the students' learning and development. The teachers and staff are all very kind and supportive. Everyone we've interacted with has been helpful and professional. Communication with the teachers has also been great whenever we've needed to reach out or ask questions. Overall, it's a great community and we've had a very positive experience here so far. When you put boys who have not learned basic behavior at home and are sent there for "babysitting", the teacher is left to scream all day at them. Admin needs to learn to deal with them so the other kids can learn. Dress code needs to be consistent across all students, and perhaps teachers and staff/admin. Less of a focus on making money and more of being a school as the A rating should show. Sad that it has changed over the years getting too big. Many state they have to come there because other schools would charge for lunches.

I started here as a student in 5th grade up to 8th grade, starting 6th grade I have had horrible experiences with not only the administration here but many of the teachers. Almost every year here I have been called up to the office for 'inconveniences' they believe were me just because of my 'record'. Keep in mind, I have NEVER received a detention here or at any of the schools I have ever been at, they have accused me of flooding the school, fighting, talking sexually, even have been written up for these claims, but never have I done such and their only proof was random rumors spread about me, I was purposely targeted from Mrs. Goshow & Mrs. Nash (AS Principal and Principal) due to the fact I brought up major concerns to them every year that were necessary to address. Speaking of that, if you are a parent who does not fund the school, participate in PROP, or has/has had an A+ student, you will not be listened too. My parents have been belittled and dismissed on major safety concerns regarding teachers and the facility. When it comes to the facility, you do not expect a K-8 school to be perfectly clean, but Painted Rock is disgustingly filthy; the pipes in the bathrooms leak and flood, there has been a broken window that has yet to be fixed as of the time I left (May 22nd), the floors are cracking and have stains all over them, theres black mold on the ceiling vents in the bathrooms and in office hallway, there is a hole in one of the walls, and the AC constantly gave out and leaked all over our desks from the tiles. I addressed all these problems to admin, but I was yelled at; told I was wrong, and called directly to my face I am 'sensitive' and a 'liar'. When it comes to SPED classes, they do not 'teach' your child to be better, they do not teach them how to comprehend a lesson, they automatically pass a SPED student, and it encourages low effort. No child in the SPED classes are equally cared about, some are more cared about than others, some are ignored, some are spoiled by the teachers. I know this as I had several friends from those classes approach me. There are some great teachers, but many yell, bully, and discourage. They are there simply to come and go, they do not care about their students, do nott get me wrong, they have some pretty good teachers though. (FYI: Only 80% of the teachers are qualified.)

As someone who grew up on the east coast, I am greatly appreciative that this school is available as a free charter school and not a small private school with high out of pocket tuition costs. Las Brisas Elementary School located on Alameda Rd and accessible via Alameda Road. They can be…read moresomewhat difficult to find since it's surrounding area is residential or mountain which is unlike The traditional Phoenix style grid system roadways. If you're trying to find the school for the first time it would be best to travel down pinnacle Peak or Happy Valley Road and turn at 55th Ave. head towards the half mile, which is Alameda. If you are on pinnacle Peak Road then you would want to go a half mile north, and if you're coming from Happy Valley Road you would turn on 55th Ave as well but take a half a mile south to Alameda Rd. Tell me that it does not connect to the major 67th Ave. or even anything past the school. If you were to look at a map you can see it after the school Alameda makes an abrupt turn and becomes a road going north south rather than east west. The school is located on about 58th Ave. and Alameda Rd. I don't want to evaluate too much on the entire education system there however I will say that the school has wonderful feedback from the parents and the students as though are happy with their teachers especially the teachers are the specials are fine arts, such as the music, art, media, etc. they seemed you have top not security with a locked fence to prevent children and others from coming or going without signing in or out. At first I found the sudden obtrusive but later have come to appreciate it because it's a great sense of security to know that my children couldn't just walk off if they're traveling in line to one another class special or for lunch. My children are small and Preschool so that's likely why am really happy about that. But it also creates a sense of accountability for all of the visitors and volunteers. There is a parking lot located directly in front of the school with assigned parking for visitors, carpool, staff, etc. The school hours are call a bit different among the district and I just got lucky enough to have my kids go to the one that starts but earlier I don't entire district! Woo hoo!! Not a morninghave different hours for the start time and release time, that I'm still getting adjusted to since I'm not a huge morning person. There was also great feedback from parents of students that have attended in the past or currently attending.
