We vetted several places before our trips, and each time our dogs stayed here, they came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. The staff is exceptional, genuinely kind, and attentive, which shows in every interaction. The facility itself is spacious, and we loved that they walk the dogs right at drop off to help them get acclimated and comfortable. During our recent holiday trip, our teenage son checked in on them, and the staff happily texted photos of the pups playing in the snow and having the time of their lives. Grooming was another highlight. Both dogs came home freshly trimmed, brushed, and looking fantastic. The only drawback is not having a live camera system to check in visually while you're away, which would add an extra layer of reassurance, though we fully trust they're in great hands. Overall, it's comforting to know our pets get a luxurious staycation when we're gone, and judging by their happy returns, they're just as spoiled there as they are at home. What can I say? I used them twice. The first time was November 2020. OK for a de-shedding. Didn't rinse out throughly and had to rinse again at home. Rather pricey. $75 but they did a good job with my small Sheba's double coat. The second appointment I didn't make it without cancel due to being in the hospital for observation of stroke symptoms. They still charged $25 fee even with explanation. The OUTRAGEOUS second time was April 20th 2021. Neglect and bad care. - charged $75 for a de-shedding he didn't need - only took 10 minutes on him - left so much soap on he literally suds up when rinsed at home - used SO MUCH doggie Cologne he stunk to high heaven WORST OF ALL His ear was bit and didn't say a word!!! He wasn't around any dogs other than the groomer when signs were noticed in his fuzzy delicate ear two weeks later. Chunks of ear started falling out. Leaving a missing tip and two nicks on the sides. If we had been told a vet may have saved the ear. Accidents happen and would have asked for a refund. So furious it took me one month to cool off and write this review properly. And No I haven't called the business because there's no way I could be civil and not threaten. I will be reporting to the BBB! Come to find out THEY Are NOT listed or ACCREDITED with the BBB!

No time was spent to comb out Matts or make him look like a poodle! His feet were atrocious and one foot bloody. His ears were radically cleaned and not dried which ended up with a bacterial infection and a vet bill of 100$. This business will not take any responsibility for the trauma my poor dog has endured.

We purchased both of our labs from Jeff La Tour at Elk River Kennels and they are the best dogs…read more Also, he trained both of them for hunting and retrieving and basic obedience; both are wonderfully trained. On Oct. 1, 2020, Erin DeMars made FALSE allegations of abuse against La Tour and Elk River Kennels. She stated that her bulldog Olive had blood all over it and was bleeding when she picked it up. In Nov. 2020, a district court Judge determined that DeMars' statements were fabricated and grossly exaggerated. The judge issued a restraining order against Erin DeMars to stop her defamation against the La Tours and their business, Elk River Kennels. Be sure that this is a very reputable dog trainer and your dog will be well cared for while staying at Elk River Kennels. We board our dogs here too when we go on vacation and they've never had any issues.

I gave a 4-star review and Mary was not happy about it. She reached out to me inquiring why it was not 5. I was feeling bullied into giving a 5. I told her how my dogs love it there and I thought 4 was a good rating.... We had an exchange and I could go into details, but again, I won't. I don't feel the need to smear somebody and be petty online. I told her I was going to have to think about bringing them back because of how I was being treated but not that I wasn't going to.
