Andrew used to run the place and was making some progress towards stabilizing things and creating a positive and enjoyable environment for the residents. He left and now there is a woman who took over as Executive Director who is not resident friendly or family friendly either. She has very poor communication skills and treats residents badly, does not listen to them, ignores them frequently and talks down to them. Residents and families are paying customers and should be treated with respect. Even staff has left because of the way she treats them. The van is broken down and transportation is now a challenge. Communication is lacking. If your family member goes to the hospital or has an issue they do not call you and communicate with you. This is unacceptable!! Care is the most important thing. Before moving your family member anywhere call the licensing agency at the County of Orange and check out violations and complaints. You will learn a lot about a facility you are thinking about. Do not fall for friendly sales people.

My mom, who has Alzheimer's, has called the Grace Gardens memory care wing at Town & Country Manor…read morehome since April 2025. What drew me to TC was a glowing recommendation from a friend whose dad thrives there--she raved about its bright, open spaces and dedicated staff. Living in Oregon, I committed sight unseen amid frustrations with my mom's previous facility. When I finally visited on move-in day, I wasn't disappointed; it exceeded expectations. Grace Gardens spans two floors in a stunning four-year-old building: the second for early-stage dementia residents like my mom, the first for advanced cases. Unlike the gloomy, cramped units I've seen elsewhere, this is memory care done right. A secure entrance leads to a cozy family café for visits. Upstairs, wide, sunlit hallways create an airy vibe that lifts spirits, even in a locked area. Downstairs, there's a garden and sun deck for fresh air. Room options include singles (I chose one at ~320 sq ft--plenty for her full bed, sofa, dining table, TV, chair, and beloved upright piano) or shared doubles with private baths. This is my mom's third facility--I've seen "excellence" promised in high-end assisted living in Bend, OR, and a seemingly solid spot in Fullerton, CA, only to watch care erode over time. TC has delivered some of the best and most frustrating moments in her six months here. Like dating, the honeymoon phase dazzles: everyone shines. By month six, the mask slips, revealing flaws. We've hit bumps--caregiver inconsistencies, staffing ratios that feel stretched thin, and my mom's heartbreaking loss of English, which complicates communication. Yet, TC stands out for its transparency and partnership. As a hands-on son (her only family left), I visit every three weeks and video-call daily from Oregon. I've seen caregivers go above and beyond--holding her hand through anxious spells or patiently navigating confusion. And when they've fallen short? Management steps up swiftly. CEO Rob Goerzen and floor staff respond promptly to my concerns, brainstorming creative fixes like visual aids and bilingual cues for Mom's language needs. In an industry plagued by turnover, TC invests in training and accountability, weeding out underperformers without excusing them. The location adjacent to Santiago Park for strolling, nearby Mainplace Mall, world class hospitals, and endless dining options along with its close proximity to major highways such as the 22 and the I-5 is very convenient. No facility is perfect--Grace Gardens would be the first to say so, and as a young program, it's still evolving. But compared to the others, TC's Christian nonprofit ethos shines through in its beautiful design (I challenge you to find a more welcoming memory care space) and family-first approach. Common hurdles like staffing shortages persist everywhere, but here, they're met with genuine effort. Grace Gardens feels like a forever home for Mom--a place where she can thrive as it grows. I recommend it wholeheartedly and have entrusted her to their capable hands. If you're seeking compassionate, upscale memory care in Southern California, start here. No place is perfect, but giving TC an honest and well earned 4 Stars!

I lost my dad two weeks ago, and I feel compelled to share about the most wonderful, compassionate…read moresenior care facility I have ever experienced: Bubbe and Zayde's Place in Santa Ana. I don't say this lightly. I have been a caregiver to my grandparents and parents since I was 25 years old -- I am now 50. Caregiving has been a defining part of my adult life. In 2019, I had to have brain surgery and at that point I truly had no choice but to get help. My dad needed 24-hour care, and I could not physically do it alone anymore. It broke our hearts and the amazing team at Bubbe and Zayde's cared for my dad in ways that exceeded my every desire and need for my dad's care. My father was a Vietnam veteran. He was exposed to Agent Orange, which led to Parkinson's disease, and three years later he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia -- a devastating, relentless illness. The last seven years were filled with complications, hospitalizations, chronic health issues, and heartbreaking changes. I can say with complete honesty: if it were not for the extraordinary caregiving team at Bubbe and Zayde's Place, I do not know how I would have survived this journey. The men and women who work there are not just caregivers -- they are earth angels. They are patient, gentle, skilled, attentive, and deeply loving. They treated my dad with dignity, safety, and compassion every single day, even as his disease progressed. They knew him. They protected him. They cared for him as if he were their own. During my dad's final days, I spent six days and six nights living there with him. They provided a portable bed so I could sleep by his side. I silently watched and observed there devoted and difficult work. They strive to bless each resident with love, dignity and respect. I felt supported, held, and surrounded by people who truly understood what mattered in those final moments. They have all become my family. Bubbe and Zayde's Place is owned by a devoted Jewish family, and the heart behind it shows in everything they do. The founder was a single mother who started with just one house in the 1990s -- a powerful story of love, resilience, and vision. Today, there are six houses that share a backyard, creating a real sense of community to honor the elderly at a fragile time in their lives. They have a movie theater, activities, and -- most importantly -- they work intentionally to ensure residents stay connected to friends and to one another during what can be an incredibly lonely stage of life. The pricing is remarkably affordable, especially given the level of care, humanity, and attention provided. This place is proof that senior care can be both professional and deeply personal. There truly are not words big enough to express the gratitude I feel for what Bubbe and Zayde's Place did for my father. They gave him safety, comfort, dignity, and love in the midst of a terrible and awful disease, and for giving my family peace when we needed it most. If you are looking for a place for someone you love -- or if you are considering supporting a care home that genuinely changes lives -- this is a place worthy of your trust and your support. From the bottom of my heart: thank you, Bubbe and Zayde's Place. You carried us when we could not carry ourselves.
