Their shirts are made to measure, and they have any range of styles, colours, ties etc They ran an offer in the paper a few months back and my Dad thought he'd take advantage of a voucher to be spent here. Anyways, we went in, the nice, well dressed fella came over to us, showed us around the shop and then did his wee measuring and suchlike on my Dad. I pondered around looking at shirts, some costing more than I earn in a week, but all of them looked really good and really fashionable. My Dad is under the impression everyone should have a good shirt, like a proper one that is expensive and stuff, not like a Primark one that has all the buttons. Anyways, they made the shirt exactly the way Dad wanted, and rang when it was available for collection. The shirt was perfect and the service was top notch. The only downside is that the price of some of the shirts is quite high which is a disappointment because I wont be able to afford them for some time. But the quality and service cannot be faulted. Excellent

LIke the shop, upstairs offers excellent quality and finishing certainly in the sleek wood panelled surroundings. Amongst the clientele were people who might well avail of the clothes in here. The quality of the coffee that I ordered was of a similar standard, though relatively more affordable. For a change from usual hurry scurry city cafe atmosphere the coffee shop is pleasantly restful and a good bet for a civilised snack lunch discussing business plans perhaps...

You can find all of the big names in here - I did notice a fantastic pair of Chelsea style suede boots that took my fancy and since I had just got paid in the back of my mind I was thinking, why not just splurge? I had a look and a feel which was abruptly ended when I checked the price tag - a snip at £300. Once you've had your fill of shopping in the city…read morecentre (see my reviews on CastleCourt and Victoria Square), there's still a few places left to burn out the credit card. Just a five minute drive from the city centre, Boucher Road has quite a few shops in it, most of which are located in Boucher Crescent Retail Park or Shane Retail Park (see my review on Shane retail park). There are men and women's clothing shops (River Island, Next, Burton, the Jeanery...), a sports shop, HMV, Starbuck's, Boots... the list goes on. There's a hell of a lot of space dedicated to parking here, but it can still be very difficult to get a space on a Saturday or Sunday. It's not a mall type place where you can get lost in, it's one of those places where the shops are all lined up in a row and you come out of one shop and into the next one - good for methodical shoppers, or those who don't have a lot of time. The downside is that the traffic on the Boucher Road can be crazy between 4 and 6p.m. But, if you're a visitor and you're out for a day's shopping, get yourself a 'day ticket' (see my Translink review) and you can take a trip up here before/after shopping in the city centre.

It is grand walking around a DVD shop or Tescos if it is mad busy, but if I go in to buy a pair of jeans, I want to be left to do it in peace. That is what River Island offers you. Sanctuary and shopping (that sounds clever). For Christmas I was given vouchers to spend in this shop and so I took myself in when I should have been in the library and then wandered around at my own leisure and bought myself some jeans and a shirt which look stunning if I may say so myself... you can compliment me too if you want. The River Island brand does not suit everyone. But with a well stocked mens floor and an even better stocked women's floor, the chances are you are going to find something you want. It is a pleasant shopping experience and with the clothes relatively cheap and the music relatively current, it's good for all.

Mostly River Island is known for unclassy clothes for dolly birds with everything on show (Meaooow!) and they have the annoying fascination of adorning everything with sequins or plastic jewels. Seriously, what gives? Anyway River Islands redeeming point is that they have started selling stuff from London graduate week and the new graduates stuff is edgy, fresh and cool. My sister got a rocking beaded bag here with a brown fringing which looks brilliant for festivals. Also recently I met the loves of my life in here, a pair of leather clogs! It was love at first sight! They also do a decent line in tailored trousers and some alright t-shirts.

Basically, if you're an Urban Outfitters fan, you'll like this place. Hell of a transformation, no? Well, Liberty Blue pulled it off with aplomb, becoming one of Belfast's favourite boutiques. In fact, it's one of the only independent shops in the city centre these days, which is nice. It's a great place to go for a funky dress or a vintage-inspired top and while it is slightly more expensive than its high-street counterparts, sometimes you just have to be prepared to pay for something less ordinary.

Liberty Blue tends not to follow any trends and instead trusts their customers discerning eyes. When I was at college in the city, I used to come here and browse through the rails of clothes hoping that all the studying would pay off and I would land a top newspaper job so I could buy all these lovely clothes. Seriously, I used to motivate myself to work harder by lusting after clothes I couldn't afford. It works! The window displays are usually very striking and are the thing that draw most punters in off the street. Inside the store is beautifully laid out, it's the kind of place which is a pleasure just to come in and browse around. There are cutesy skirts, cool Edie Sedgwick t-shirts, gorgeous dresses, both casual and fancy, Audrey Hepburn style cardigans and good music to boot. On display in the middle table there are some handmade broaches, rings and jewellery trinkets, funky tights and a battered old suitcase with some vintage belts in every imaginable colour- a snip at £4 each or 3 for £10. The jewellery also deserves a special mention, the necklaces are really cool, chic and very charming. Long gold chains with bird cages or little gold Eiffel towers. These necklaces have done me for many birthday presents this year, they all come moderately priced too. The assistants are really friendly and always make a point of saying hello, which is a really nice touch I think. Check out the sale rail down the back for some bargains. Prices vary and should suit all customers. The more expensive party dresses range from £50-£70 and there are really good quality dresses from about £20. Definitely cheaper than their contemporaries Topshop and Urban Outfitters. I don't mind paying money for something quality that looks unique and it's always an added plus to be supporting such a fabulous and unique local business.
