With that being said, I look at Yelp to get an idea of businesses often and the reviews for this clinic had me a little worried about taking my Doberman here. After my first visit with Joy Barron, I felt very differently. She was very nice and very informative and I asked a lot of questions because my doberman is the first dog I've cared for. I scheduled an appointment to get my boy neutered with the receptionist after my first checkup here and she handed me the appointment reminder card for the date of the surgery. I showed up this morning at the time I was given to be notified that his surgery was never scheduled. I was then told that I could leave him there for the day but there was no guarantee that he'd receive his surgery today. At this point I was really upset about the lack of accountability from the receptionist (who was working there this morning but said nothing the entire time I was in there while this was happening) and decided to just leave before I lost my cool and said something rude and unprofessional. I've emailed them a copy of this appointment reminder card and would be happy to update this review when an explanation has been given for why the surgery was never scheduled when I scheduled it IN PERSON IN THEIR OFFICE.

After every test, with no answers; they did not give up. They started trying to narrow down the issue and did not give up. He had a small stay of about 5 days in total, and the staff constantly updated me throughout his stay. His illness really seemed to be a death sentence, but after trying a medicine they don't typically use, he began improving so quickly. We were so thrilled when we finally got good news of progress for our boy. He is doing just perfect now and is back to his loving self. I cannot thank this hospital enough for their dedication to their job, and to their patients. Throughout the days there, we saw many people treated so well. If you ever have an emergency I highly recommend them. They treat your animal like they are their own. I truly felt so supported and like our boy was in the best hands possible.

The staff at Elk Creek is very personable and compassionate. This isn't just a job for any of them, it's a passion. From the person who takes calls and makes appointments to the doctors to the techs, every person we've dealt with has been understanding and caring. The exam rooms are spacious, comfortable, and quiet, so that your visit is kept private. The Doctors are the best we've ever been to. They listen to you and give you sound advice that's in the best interest of the (insert pet here). We find the prices for services and medication very reasonable, and making an appointment has never been a problem. As sad as it is, we've brought two of our dogs here to say goodbye to them. It's a terrible thing to do and it's incredibly difficult, but the staff understands that. They give you as much time as you need and make sure your pet is comfortable. As heartbreaking as it is, Elk Creek does it with care and dignity. Yes, it's about a 30 minute drive, but it's worth it for the care and the compassion the staff at Elk Creek has for your pet.

I took my shepherd in with his she's draining and a sinus infection. he was a little lethargic but…read moreacting perfectly well. his temperature was found to be 106 degrees. all the doctor wanted to do was labwork, the MO of the clinic. as a retired MD I knew exactly what was wrong with him. They didn't treat his fever and wouldn't without doing money-making labs. They gave me a handful of prescriptions. the only one we needed was an antibiotic. Nothing for his fever! I was able together him to swallow the antibiotic and his eyes cleared up overnight, though he woke up the next day blind and deaf from his fever and died 3days later. Be wary of this clinic!

My entire family takes their pets here and we have for years. Mostly there are small dogs (Bostons)…read moreand cats. We have always had very attentive care and vets that will go above and beyond for our pets. When I'm cleaning up after my in-laws completely blind and incontinent dog, I start wonder if they're keeping them alive a little TOO long. They take a couple hour break mid-day from 2-4, but they also stay open till 8pm M-Th, and are open on Saturdays, too. So overall their hours are great, as long as your vet emergency doesn't happen during that break time! They have separate areas for cats and dogs to wait and their exit and entrance doors are separated as well. This means that altercations between animals are unlikely. In fact, I've never seen one. We briefly tried another vet that was closer to home, but they seemed more interested in selling us extra procedures instead of helping our cats. Not so at Lawrenceburg!

I understand offices get busy, but there is absolutely no excuse for treating clients this way. We should be able to advocate for our pets without being blamed, talked down to, or hung up on.
