In writing, the hospital acknowledged that the veterinarian on duty remembered the incident and that the employee's words "did not convey the appropriate level of compassion." What makes this even more upsetting is that Bella is still alive today and enjoying a good quality of life. While I appreciate that management eventually acknowledged my concerns, the emotional impact of this experience has stayed with me long after the visit.
