I own a waterfront home on a pond in Raymond, and I burn four wood cords every year. Mike from Atlantic Firewood is my first call every spring to touch base with him about my next wood delivery. Mike has earned my trust and my respect over the last 8 seasons of his excellent service and flawless wood deliveries. His wood is always best quality - it always burns hot and clean. His delivery is always on time, and is always left exactly where I want it on my property - whether or not I am home at the time of delivery. Mike's price is always fair, and when wood is scarce, Mike is very honest with me about when wood will be available, and what stage of seasoning it will be in. And Mike returns my loyalty, by giving me first priority when wood is allocated for the season. Firewood is something I never worry about anymore, even in years when supply is scarce or costs are high, because I am a long-time customer of Atlantic Firewood, and Mike never lets me down.

On June 9th, we scheduled delivery of a cord of firewood to be delivered today for a cost of $325…read more My husband sent the owner a text to confirm the delivery date a couple of days ago. Today (Friday) he gets a text from the owner stating the price was now $400, and cash only, no check, delivery Sunday. My husband questioned the price increase and Mike's responding text was this "Yes it is quite an increase. Have you been to the grocery store or bought any other good lately? The increase covers the increased cost of fuel, workers comp, ins rates and everything else involved. Out of the 500 people I've sold wood to this year your the only one I've had to explain this to, apparently you don't watch the news. I'm not going to be able to help you with your wood, good luck with your search". My husband is a buyer by profession and asking about cost is what he does all day, he texted back an apology for asking the question, but no response. Seriously, the owner was excessively rude and should understand that we are repeat customers and it should be ok to ask questions when you had a quoted price and delivery date and both were changed without warning. I sent an email to the business to register my disappointment, but don't worry Mike doesn't feel the least bit bad about his total lack of customer service. Don't do business with them unless you want to feel slighted, insignificant, and like you've just stood in line for the Soup Nazi.

The Board Barn - Large pieces of wood laying to dry in our house

    The Board Barn

We called the board barn to get firewood delivered because we were running low on the wood we…read morecurrently had. We expressed that there was a dire need for burnable wood for THIS SEASON. There was no mention of "this wood is green" or "this wood comes in giant block like pieces that need to be split." Gabrielle, my significant other who ordered the wood stated on the phone that she saw what looked to be firewood in bags on their lawn and inquired as to if they were for sale. We were informed that they were and that they were ~$200 for three bags which equated to about a cord of wood. Great! We will take three and they can be delivered after the new year. Thursday December 28th, Gabrielle and I agree to see if we can order three more bags. Gabrielle calls to place the order as it's -22°. "Oh so you're calling because it's cold out and need more wood? We can do another three bags for you." The wood was delivered that day, great. It was dumped mostly in a snow bank but I kind of expected that. There's a lot of snow. After the delivery driver leaves, I inspect the wood a bit closer. It's not seasoned, and the chunks are giant. Much larger than stove cut lengths of wood, and cubic. HAD WE KNOWN or HAD WE BEEN INFORMED by The Board Barn that the condition of the wood was going to be as such, we never would have ordered it. We need wood to burn now. It's 3°F at the time I am writing this. This whole transaction seems to be a money grab by the board barn, and for that reason I would not suggest anyone go there. Upon calling The Board Barn to inquire as to why these details were not disclosed to us prior to purchase we were met with a wall of excuses. I finally took the call over and suggested that they be a bit more transparent with consumers that were in dire straits looking for wood to heat their home, which we were completely full disclosure about. I was then cut off mid sentence and told "Well I assumed you knew what you were buying." Well, I thought we were buying some firewood. Not some fresh scraps from your mill that were cut down a few weeks ago. Now we are left with wood we can barely burn, and a Chimney that will need to be thoroughly douched come spring due to ALL THE CREOSOTE FROM THE GREEN WOOD WE WERE SOLD. Thanks for taking our 400 bucks Board Barn. Word of mouth travels. Great business practices too. Talking down to your paying customers like we are some kind of psychics that can use remote viewing to see what condition the wood is in from the comfort of our home.

Terrible transparency with the product received. Called The Board Barn looking for immediate use…read morefirewood on a day it was - 22 degrees. They promised to deliver 2 cord later that day for about $400. I expressed that we grossly underestimated how much firewood we would need for the year and the gentleman responded with "oh, your cold and need wood?" joking because it was so blisteringly cold out. At this point I completely assumed the product I was to receive would be burnable in 2017-2018 winter season. We received the wood only to find out it was green wood, which needs to be dried for upwards of 1 year before use. Obviously not wood I could burn today to avoid the cold, as the seller suggested I could do. I am now left with 6 bags (about 2 cord) and down $400 of a product that is essentially useless until 2018-2019 winter. It's especially useless because the pieces are so incredibly large my boyfriend had to borrow a chainsaw to split them up. I am frustrated with the fact I wasn't told what product I was getting after I explained my situation and that the size of the wood was not disclosed. Now I need to spend another few hundred dollars to Purchase oil or biobricks to get me and my family through the rest of the winter. We called and explained our frustration to the seller but he explained there is nothing he can do. Unfortunately because there is nothing he can do, I will endure additional costs this winter trying to stay warm. I ode to never purchase anything from this business again.
