Easter Sunday afternoon my sister Sherrie and myself took her sweet dog Lola to North GA Veterinary Specialist. The facility was clean and we found everyone friendly. Lola was clearly in distress and wasn't breathing well. After the vet saw her X-rays it was determined that Lola had fluid in her lungs due to tumors in and around her lung. Every single person we encounter at North GA was professional and kind. We decided that it was best for Lola to put her to sleep. When the time came we held Lola while the vet gave her the shots. I wish I could remember the vets name as she was so patient and sweet to us and Lola. I would highly recommend North GA Veterinary Specialist. read more

Easter Sunday I took my Cocker Lola to this Clinic. I wished I could remember her name. She was so compassionate. I knew my Lola had cancer but what I didn't know how advanced her cancer was. Lola was a much older dog. Its been less then 5 months when I lost my husband, now this. No other choice but to put my sweet baby to sleep. My Sweet Dr. I hope you will see this review. I'm heartbroken and furious about what happened to my 1-year-old German Shepherd, Athena, under the care of this hospital--and specifically, Dr. Cursio. Athena underwent a hip replacement here. While the surgery itself was successful, the aftermath was a nightmare. She developed a staph infection shortly after the procedure. Instead of digging deeper, Dr. Cursio continued to throw antibiotics at the issue without ever investigating the root cause. There was no sense of urgency, no proactive follow-up, and no accountability. Athena got worse. She became unable to walk, was in constant pain, and the infection eventually spread to her spine--completely deteriorating her spinal discs. I was told we might have to put her down. I had already spent nearly $20,000 at this clinic with no resolution--just more prescriptions and vague advice. To make matters worse, there was a lapse in her antibiotics due to their failure to follow up, which allowed the infection to advance even further. Had I not had the ability to pivot and seek care elsewhere, or the funds to do so, Athena would be dead. Thankfully, I got her to Ross Animal Hospital, where she received stem cell therapy, rehab, and compassionate, competent care. They saved her life. This hospital--while capable of surgery--completely failed at every other level of care. If you're considering bringing your pet here, please don't. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I visited North Georgia Animal Hospital tonight, 2/24/2026, with my dog due to a leg injury that was causing him not to put any pressure on it. When we arrived, we were the only clients in the lobby. Shortly after, three other dogs came in and each of them was seen before my dog. After waiting approximately 40 minutes, another dog arrived. At that point, it became clear that we were not being tended to in the order of arrival. A technician eventually came out and said, "I know you all are next, but let me see about this little one and see what's going on." That was extremely frustrating and disappointing, especially given that my dog was clearly in pain. I understand that emergencies can arise, but there was no communication or explanation provided to us about any change in priority. As a pet owner, it's concerning to feel overlooked when your animal needs medical attention. Due to the lack of communication and long wait time despite arriving first, I chose to leave. I hope the hospital improves its customer service and communication practices so other pet owners do not have a similar experience. read more

On April 17, 2025, we brought our 2-year-old dog to this clinic because we knew something was wrong. We asked several times if lab work, x-rays, or further diagnostics were needed. We were told over and over by Dr. Kim that they weren't. The front desk girl (possibly named Claudia) was on her phone and completely disengaged. No urgency. No care. We trusted them. We even signed paperwork without reading it fully because we believed we were in capable hands. Less than 24 hours later, our dog was dead. Their negligence cost us everything. Terrible service and pricing. I understand it's an emergency vet so things are gonna cost more but to be quoted 1,000-1,200 to have my dog's paw sowed up and for them to only clean it and put a cream on it and turn around and charge me 1,200 is insane. Not only that. I was told ya it'll be a couple of hours mind you this happens at around 6:00 pm for me to call every 2 hours up until 2 am the next day to find out they haven't even looked at my dog. I called again at 4 am and they said oh ya he's been done for a while we just forgot to call you. Is just insane. They do not care about your time at all. They just want ur money. And this isn't even the only instance that's been poor. I called after this to get a bandage change (I was told no need for an appointment if it's just a bandage just to call ahead) and they stated yep we are all clear come on in and we will get it taken care of real quick. This was a lie. I showed up and waited almost 2 and a half hours just for them to constantly come in and say ya we are about to start now and for them to say ya we didn't prescribe the correct antibiotics so we are gonna need to change them. I was flabbergasted at this. Then I had to come back not even 2 days later for a new bandage because the one they put on barely held. When I called for this appointment they stated ya come on in and we can do it real quick. This again was a lie. I drove 40 minutes for them to tell me oh ya it's actually going to be another 2-3 hours before we can even look at him. But our more than happy to wait. Aswell as all of this the doctors or surgeons or whatever you wanna call them stand their and bug you about a budget and will criticize everything you say and judge you to the point that you feel like a worthless dog parent. My beautiful Sadie Mae passed away and they were absolutely wonderful helping me with the arrangements. They were caring, thoughtful, and helped me throughout the incredibly sad experience. I had her cremated and I was so appreciative when I picked up her remains. Dog got mauled by a coyote and this clinic could not have been nicer. We came in and it was a pretty long wait. there were a lot of dogs who needed care. That didn't bother me because that's usually the case at any ER. I found the vet to be very caring and thorough. I see a lot of negative reviews about cost. There is pet insurance. Please invest in it. There's no excuse not to and it certainly doesn't warrant the bad reviews about it. I found the cost of care to be extremely reasonable but I have insurance. Was really disappointed with the experience. Took my cat in because he had tummy problems. Was vomiting, not eating/drinking etc. and I was worried. Well first thing they did was just take my cat when I walked in the door at 8 pm and I didn't see him until they brought him out at 11:30pm. Was expecting atleast to be in the room with him for initial check/exam. I could've told them he's a huge brat. Eventually I got to speak with the vet- the whole time hear my cat in the back crying and howling and hissing (he's very vocal) could tell They didn't know how he needs to be handled. Lil guy was freaking out. Pricing nearly made me throw up. Outrageous. They require a deposit of few hundred? when you leave your pet with them. The bill came out to in the thousand(s). They found nothing wrong with him.., They took hours longer than expected. First told me it should take an hour- I had to call them after 2 hours to find out "the vet is examining him now". After hours of waiting I Just showed up- I see the vet at the front desk. She walks away when I come in. I sat there for an another hour- hearing my cat scream the entire time. HERES THE KICKER; when the vet brings him out and tells me the details- she kept referring to my male cat as a SHE. Causing me to ask- "uhm what is my cat a girl?" We had to take our fur baby to the vet over the weekend he was very sick and as much as we hated to hear the bad news the doctor gave us all our options it was a sad day to say the least our baby was dying, and it was decided to put him to sleep instead of watching him hurt. My dog had been ill for a few weeks and my regular vet couldn't quite figure out what was going on. She deteriorated over the weekend and I brought her to this location. They did know what her symptoms and lab work indicated and tried to stabilize her overnight but we ended up having to put her down the next morning (not their fault, she just didn't respond the way we hoped). VERY thankful for this clinic! Last night our dog had diarrhea and vomiting--we were thinking the vomiting was probably from some household cleaner she had gotten into. Thankfully, there was no wait once we arrived. They are having customers call upon arrival and wait in the car, and they come out to you. Thankfully, Nikita (spelling?) assessed the situation, and asked a lot of really great questions. They took our dog back and then Dr. Dempsey came out to give us the diagnosis, which thankfully was not serious. I was super impressed with the efficiency, friendliness, and even the cost. 2 back-to-back miracles! In December, Dr. Oshin performed a delicate and complex surgery on our 8 yr old dog, Faith, to remove a cancerous adrenal gland and kidney. She recovered quickly and acts like a puppy again! At beginning of February, our 16 yr old cat ingested a toxic plant. Dr. Surdyk brought our sweet Melanie back from the brink of death. This is a TRUE ANIMAL HOSPITAL - with highly qualified doctors and technicians who treat pet patients like we humans expect to be treated! We cannot recommend this hospital enough! The Dr we seen this time was very informative, but the past events were the same as many here. Just end the animal. Its why I call this place the Pet Auschwitz. He had been treated for symptoms of a problem when I'd taken him to a veterinary earlier that day. That veterinary failed to provide adequate treatment for my puppy and he worsened. Dr. Hayes performed THOROUGH blood analyses, and monitoring. She and her staff pampered my pooch as they hydrated him, and kept him overnight. Dr. Hayes spoke delicately and kept me posted throughout the night. Dr. Hayes was empathetic and Genuinely concerned about little Harrington. She is the type of of veterinarian that loves animals and her job. I appreciate North Georgia for doing all they could to save his life. More importantly, for doing their jobs. An added bonus was that they gave him a bath before he came home. Ambience: A-The parking and external building aesthetic is modern and pet friendly. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. Our puppy was incorrectly diagnosed with a torn CCL when in reality she has an infection in her spine. She is currently in critical condition in the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This could have been completely avoided had NGVS truly looked at all the findings of the over $1200 in diagnostics I paid for. Our puppy does NOT have any torn CCLS. I cannot say enough about the poor treatment we received here, the disrespect shown to me when I questioned the findings that were seemingly accidentally shared with me in an email (that were previously undisclosed), and the lack of response to my pleas for help in finding her true diagnosis. Shame on you NGVS. My dog is permanently affected because of your malpractice. read more

Do not take your pet there if you can avoid it. I took my 5 month old puppy there last night because she was having trouble breathing and it seem as though she was joking on something that she couldn't get out. Doctor Mete Ender Tuncay, DVM (Dr. Pet Death) saw her and first it was "I looked at her but she looks good." When I explain why we were there he quoted pricing. Now I have already told the nurse and the tech what was happening. The Dr. basically came out to quote price before fully checking what was going on with my pup. I agreed to service, he then came back and was like " I don't have good news, she has a condition. Called MEGAESOPHAGUS and basically she will not be able to eat or digest food properly, it will be expensive to have to care for a puppy life long with this condition. My advise is to put her to sleep. Let's not forget his exact words " it's pretty much a slam dunk" we can take care of it now. As my heart is ripping out and filled with tears. I proceeded to tell him that we just brought Sofia for our 7 year old. He said "well I can give her back so you can take her home so he can say his good bye. Then you can bring her back tomorrow to euthanize her." This man was horrible, how is he a vet? He never ever offered and Alternative if we wanted to go that route. Didn't even offer to give her Meds to go home with. I had to ask for it. If it wasn't for another pet owner who was there and over heard his cut and dry diagnosis my Sofia would be lost. She was and angel sent at the right time. Comforted me and proceeded to educate me on our puppy's condition. Because her puppy has the same condition and is still alive today going on 3 years. I do not recommend this place at all or better yet not this vet. He needs to be in another line of work. He was only concerned about getting his fee. I will fight with our girl and love her even more. Definitely getting a second opinion for sure. So so heart broken and disappointed In this treatment. read more

We waited with our pet for over an hour with no communication. The staff did not seem friendly at all. When what seemed to be a vet came out she just said "come on back"...none of us knew who she was talking to. She didn't even use the client's or pet's name. I'm not going to lie, I am crazy. When it comes to my fur-baby I have high anxiety, just a total basket-case. I know this and I cannot stop myself. But the staff at North Georgia Vet Specialists really know how to put one at ease. Tentative staff, knowledgeable technicians, and a very impressive surgical team. My 7 year old pug needed to get his knee fixed. I have had it looked at numerous times, numerous xrays, and everyone kept telling me he had arthritis of his hips. He would be prescribed anti-inflammatory meds or pain meds, told me to get a good bed, and massage his legs. He started to not use the leg at all. My vet referred my to Dr. James and he immediately was able to diagnose my baby's malfunction, even without looking at the diagnostics, purely through assessment. Recommended surgery. I always get worried when it comes to having to put my short nosed pug under anesthesia. Dr. James took the time to answer all my questions. Provided me details of the OR. Helped me prepare for the recovery process, so that my nerves wouldn't get the best of me when it was time for baby to come home. Lucky is post-op day one. Resting well. Eating well. We organized the house so it is recovery friendly, as recommended, as so far it is going well. Thank you Dr. James and the surgical team for your amazing care!! Once again, I am going to reiterate that I am a little crazy when it comes to this baby of mine. I called almost every 2-3hrs after he got out of surgery. Dr. James was extremely busy that day, but I was always able to talk to someone who was directly providing care for Lucky, to get an update. Of course, sleep was not my friend, so I called throughout the evening to get updates. I always received a friendly voice on the other line, providing answers to my multiple questions, and helping put my nerves to ease. Christie who worked overnight, went above and beyond when it came to providing information of his recovery. She never rushed me off the phone, answered my questions, and even gave me a little play by play of what lucky was doing at 230am. Thank you Christie and the entire staff of NGVS for your compassion and dedication to patient-family centered care. I have had to visit NGVS in emergent situations as well. My other pup, Cookie, was attacked by a big dog, and in pretty bad shape. There was a time when I thought that she was not going to make it. Dr. Curcio saved her life. After I think 2 or 3 surgeries and 2 weeks in the ICU, we brought this frail girl home. She ultimately needed to be fed through a feeding tube for a while. But with the expert guidance of Dr. Curcio, her recovery went smoothly. She is 100% recovered after 6 months, and back to her wild self. Thank you Dr. Curcio for saving Cookie. My dog's liver enzymes were so high that it couldn't report accurate levels. They told us they were elevated. When we take her to our regular vet the next day, our vet said she was so sick they couldn't do anything. Why didn't North Georgia Veterinary tell how sick she was? Shame on North Georgia Veterinary for not telling us how sick she was. $1,000 later with NGV. Be warned it all about the money to NGV. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. BEWARE. We brought our Presa Canario here on Sunday for an Emergency Visit. She was having difficulty breathing and she was coughing up blood. We were told a week prior that her condition was called "kennel cough" and we would have to wait for a Tech to come out to our car. We waited and waited, and finally I went inside to tell them my dog couldn't wait any longer. They finally took her inside, we then waited for 4 hours in the lobby (they wouldn't let us see her) to FINALLY met with the Vet... Dr. Ossin said our dog had developed "lung cancer" even though her blood work tests were PERFECT. NOTHING showed up in her blood work (She had no health issues prior to this) THEN he said it could be an "infectious disease" ??? Which one is it?? He didn't even know! We were told we had to leave her there overnight. They charged us $2,500... We came back the very next day to pick her up, that's when we received the call on the way over... THEY TOLD US OVER THE PHONE THAT OUR DOG HAD DIED!!! THEY DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO CALL US TO LET US KNOW OUR DOG WAS HAVING COMPLICATIONS. That is the part that hurt me the most. If they knew she wasn't doing well, why wouldn't they call and tell us to come in and have a final moment with our girl before she passed???? THEY ARE HEARTLESS AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!! The vet shrugged everything off and was not apologetic. He couldn't even tell me her cause of death, because quite frankly, he doesn't even know! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I brought my dog in after he was attacked by another dog. He was obviously scared and they take your pet back without you which only adds to the anxiety. The doctor told me he was too rambunctious for them to fix his 3" gash on his ear and CHARGED ME for the gauze to wrap it myself at home. His ear cut is still very very open and they won't pick up the call to the emergency vet line after 20 minutes of trying. Terrible place and I absolutely would never recommend this shit hole if you want actual help with your pet. read more

They spent 600 dollars to be sent home with some medication that they said would help fix the issue, despite not even knowing what the issue was. Doctor couldn't look my friends in the eye and they went HOURS without acknowledgment from staff or any answers. Their pup was discharged after 6 hours of wasted time, and she crashed again not even a couple hours later. I would avoid this place at all costs. They are NOT here to help your pets, just out for money. They claim services were refused, but nothing was refused. They gave my friends options to either start with one step and move forward based on what the puppy needed or go outright and do everything (which would have cost 5,500). They chose to take the step by step option and after some blood work and fluids the dog was discharged. This vet made NO effort to actually help their dog and just make excuses. They could not even diagnosed the issue after spending $3500, thye kept guessing on what to do next...with no guarantees on anything they do. My dog suffered a head injury and needed immediate assistance. I called the hospital in advance and told them what was happening, they told me just to bring her in asap. When I arrived the person who answered the phone was trying to diagnose her over the phone, I told her that she hurt her head and was no able to control her. This person tell me to take her somewhere else if I didn't like it in a very condescending manner, I was at the edge of tears and he proceeds to tell me that is not his problem and hangs the phone on me. I came to bluecloud in lawrenceville and the tech took a quick look at her and told me she required immediate help. They gave him several shots, ran all sorts of tests and drugged him up saying he had some sort of infection. They charged us $1,100. They never once called to check on him or see how he was doing (as all other vets do). We called them again to let them know he was doing very bad and they said the vet who could look at him was out on vacation the next couple of weeks. WHAT!? So we brought him to his regular vet since it was no longer the weekend and they were open. They diagnosed him right away with heart failure and let us know, honestly, that they didn't want to take our money and didn't want our dog to suffer any more as he had been due to this misdiagnosis and failure to see he clearly had a heart failure issue. He died this morning, just about a week after this horrific experience with this vet. They did not care about our dog at all, they took us for every penny they could get out of us and they will do the same to you. From morning to evening one day, a mass on our dog's neck had quadrupled in size. I went to North Georgia Veterinary Specialists immediately for help. Having been there with another family pet, who was seen and treated by Dr. Goodnight, I had high hopes for this visit. Unfortunately, it appears Dr. Goodnight left and the practice has gone severely downhill. We left our dog there at night and was told that she is not an emergency and the surgical staff would be in in the morning and would work her into their schedule to do a biopsy and a CT scan. We paid about $2,500 and were told that would cover the CT scan and biopsy but the estimate could go as high as about $4,500 if surgery was determined to be needed. The next day, the vet called and said they did not have time to do the CT scan and biopsy that day and would have to do it the following day. The next day, they called and said they did the CT scan which showed either cancer or a fungal infection and they sent the biopsies off to UGA to look at and that it would take about a week to get the results back. I inquired if he thought it was more likely cancer or fungal and the response back from the doctor was "probably cancer but if I could look at something and say it is cancer, I would be a millionaire by now". I asked if we could get the results faster than the quoted 5-7 days, given how quick the mass grew. They said they would put "stat" on it so the lab knew to please hurry. After running our situation by a family friend vet, he said there is no reason that we should not know from the CT scan if it was cancer or not and he recommended taking her directly to Athens. The next day I picked her up and the practice manager told me we owed about $1,200 more. When I inquired why, since the vets over the phone said we were still good with what we paid and all that they did was the CT scan and biopsy as discussed, the manager (Donna Mandato) told me "technically they did minor surgery with the biopsy and the amount we paid before did not cover that". So we were very much so misled about the amount we paid and what it covered. Additionally, Donna's comment was extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate. Donna then proceeded to tell me "I don't know why you're taking your pet to Athens, we did all we could for her". Two weeks later, after our baby has passed away, we still have not received the biopsy results. I called and the receptionist took a note saying the dr would call me with results tomorrow. They never called the next day. So the following day I called and the receptionist was able to email me her biopsy results and said she has had them for days. I also spoke with the manager, Donna, again and asked for a refund of $120 for the "stat" fee since we got the results well after the regular non "stat" quoted time frame. Donna proceeded to tell me that the "stat" fee was for a quick CT scan. The CT scan that happened two days after we dropped her off. To which I said we did not ask for a quick CT result because at that time, we had no indication that it was anything that severe. We asked for the "stat" after we were told it might be cancer and we wanted the biopsy results faster. Donna proceeded to cut me off and say "ma'am, we do not stat biopsies. And we sent her results to your primary vet and followed up with them, who told us your pet had been euthanized, and oh we are very sorry about your loss, but we do not call with results then and do not stat biopsies". I will never bring any pets back to this clinic ever again. My family and I are extremely disturbed by the way we were spoken to and treated. Even after discussing our experience with other vets, the consensus is that this clinic is run like a business. They do not care about "bedside manner" or being polite or respectful, even in a family's traumatic moments. I do NOT recommend any pet parent take their family members to this clinic. read more
