    Sweet girl....
    STEPHANIE C.

Today our sweet, sassy, loyal "FAITH" who made our home and lives richer for nearly14 years, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to join her brother, "SULLY". She passed away peacefully at 5:14pm in the comfort of our arms with in-home euthanasia administered by Dr. Lauren Cassady of "Heron's Crossing". Faith fought hard against the health problems of old age, but she let us know that she was tired of fighting. We rescued Faith when she was about two years old on November 16, 2008 near our former home on Faith Avenue in Glenwood Park. We appropriately named her "FAITH". We hoped to celebrate her "SWEET 16" in November, but she was just too tired. She was a GOOD girl and a great big sister to her little brother "KIRK"! Faith lived a happy life! She will never be forgotten and always loved......

    D. Lauren was so much more than a licensed Vet. She innately understood what our family members (the 2 legged as well as 4) had been going thru over the last few months. Jagger (Golden/Jack Russell rescue) was almost 16 yrs. old. He was having to go outside every few hours, day and night, So it was by extension, the same for his human care givers. Dr. Lauren was there to help make the process as calm and personal as possible. She only spoke when it was helpful and necessary. We (Dr. Lauren, Wife and myself) sat on the floor next to Jags. He never showed any pain or anxiety while we pet him, telling him how much we loved him and that he was NOT alone. It was the right time in light of his rapidly declining quality of life and as beautiful as his Mom and Dad hoped for

Dr. Lauren helped us today giving Cooper our 16 year old Goldendoodle a peaceful send off. She is very caring and wrapped him up in fleece on a stretcher. He looked like he was just asleep. That's a good memory to leave us with. I highly recommend her.

Thank you so much to Dr. Laura and all of her staff for the amazing service that we received today. After lots of searching and debating and wondering whether it was time for our 14-year-old golden retriever to cross the rainbow bridge- I am so glad we chose Heron's Crossing to guide us through our final moments with our Gracie. . She was so thorough and calm and collective and encouraging and sympathetic and compassionate- I have nothing but great things to say. Thank you so much for making such a difficult time one that our whole family could appreciate and feel apart of . While it was one of the hardest days we have experienced as a family - from the first phone call to the moment when she was carried out, we were taken care of and showered with peace and compassion. Thank you again- you were awesome

My super high-energy Frenchton, Miles, had an injury over the holiday weekend, which I thought was his back leg. I made an online appointment request for the next available weekday, which was approved first thing in the morning. The online appointment system is so easy and very efficient. The facility is adorable, spotlessly clean, and the staff is amazing. Sharif is an absolute angel, treating Miles like his own pet, and I really want to be his new best friend, Lol! Dr Simmons is fantastic and took so much time with Miles, explaining the injury and the required treatment. I feel confident he will be feeling back to himself soon once we get thru this rest period to heal what turned out to be a herniated disc in his lumbar spine. I have happily found my baby's new vet and feel very confident in the care my sweet boy received today! I was sent an email with the notes about the visit which was such a nice touch. I have never received anything like that with any other vet office. I am very thankful I was referred to Dr Simmons!

At Simmons veterinary clinic we got amazing treatment from the time we stepped in with front desk administrator, to nurse and Dr. Simmons himself. Really loved the intimate approach and made our visit smooth sailing and most importantly my pup went through with the visit without being stressed out and left the clinic a very happy dog, that is priceless! We live out of state but will be driving to Simmons clinic for routine check ups and vaccinations because they were just that great ! .

We were in an out in about 30 minutes total. I also have to note how clean the facility was and how reasonably priced they were especially for being a dedicated emergency vet. I rushed into The Village Vet after unknowingly giving my dog some blue cheese, which I later found out is toxic to dogs. He became extremely sick, experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, and obvious discomfort, and I wanted to make sure he was okay. When I arrived, I was also in an extreme amount of pain myself. While several people noticed that I wasn't doing well, it was J, the nighttime office personnel, who stepped in to help. She thoughtfully brought me a heating pad to ease the extraordinary pain I was experiencing. That small but incredibly meaningful gesture showed true compassion--not just for my dog, but for me as well. J's kindness, attention to detail, and willingness to step in when I needed it most is something I will never forget. I am deeply grateful for her care that night. The Village Vet may be known for caring for pets, but in my experience, it was J's compassion toward the owner that stood out most. Thank you, J!!!

I saw why at my first visit in 2022, when he was able to efficiently and accurately diagnose a chronic case that stumped three other Vets. They are now our first call when we realize we have a foster cat with a potentially medically complicated or confusing case. Doctor Lloyd has been able to help us get answers and better understand treatment options for medical multiple foster kitties for us over the last few years - from an older kitten who kept getting high fevers and bizarre symptoms, a young cat that showed signs of feline hyperesthesia, a tiny kitten who turned out to have a rare congenital cardiac condition (both are adults and doing great!), our own sweet but very skittish cat who needed complicated dental surgery, and a geriatric sweetheart with a laundry list of medical issues who found himself on an EU list at a rural shelter, Dr Lloyd helped us understand what to look out for with his conditions and what to balance in his treatment plan for best quality of life during his hospice foster time with us. They have always taken the time not only to explain any findings or recommendations and answer questions, but to make sure the cat had the best possible experience during the exam with the least amount of stress. The bedside manner grabbed my attention before they'd even had a chance to show the medical brilliance. I felt bad at first booking my resident cats for an appointment bc it seemed greedy to use that sort of amazing diagnostic and treatment planning ability to just give a routine check up and vaccines, but I'm so, so, so glad we did Eternal gratitude to these folks, especially Dr. Lloyd.

He sat in the back for over 3 1/2 hours with no fluids, no meds, and no update. The tech was nonchalant when I expressed concern, and Dr. Peters brushed everything off--suggesting Latte may have "eaten an acorn or turmeric," completely ignoring his two-year oncology history and the $20K+ of treatment we've done at this hospital. We also learned that day that our amazing oncologist Dr. Mobley was gone -- and it shows. The doctor who replaced her, Dr. Callahan, has shown zero interest in communicating. Every attempt to reach him was met with pushback. How are we expected to keep spending thousands at a hospital where we can't even speak to the specialist responsible for our dog's care? Thank you to Cassandra, the only tech who actually gave Latte fluids and medication, and to Desha, who listened to my concerns. Meanwhile, the office manager never followed up. Then, without my consent, Latte's oncology appointment was canceled. When I called about an estimate later that week, they hung up on me. And this wasn't an isolated issue. Since 11/13, I contacted St. Francis over four different times trying to reach their oncology team and the office manager about Latte's condition, the lack of urgency, and the negligence we experienced during not one but two ER visits. I was dismissed repeatedly. I was told they were "busy and short staffed," placed on hold, and when the call disconnected, they never called back. My inquiries were never passed along to the people in charge. I called again on 12/2, after Latte had passed away, and was told the office manager had been "informed" and would contact me. It is now 12/4. Still nothing. The most heartbreaking part? St. Francis's ER doctor told us Latte was probably just experiencing stomach discomfort from an acorn. In reality, Latte was already in kidney failure. The oncologist who reviewed his bloodwork never told us that -- he only said some values were elevated and recommended a low-fat diet and an internal medicine follow-up. I physically went in the next day and booked that appointment myself because no one at this place was taking initiative. One week later, at Thrive, we were finally told the truth: Latte was in kidney failure. Two days later, he was gone. When Latte fell critically ill, we were so exhausted and traumatized by St. Francis's neglect that we had to rush him to a completely new ER -- VEG. They were the exact opposite of St. Francis: quick, compassionate, responsive, and they let us speak with the doctor before we arrived. As soon as we walked in, they rushed Latte into triage and immediately began treatment. They treated it like an emergency -- something St. Francis has never done. When Latte passed, VEG didn't even charge us for the ER visit. They sent us a card signed by the entire staff with condolences. Dogwood contacted us with kind words. Dr. Clark, an oncologist from Dogwood, personally called and spoke to us in detail for 30 minutes about Latte and offered sincere condolences. Meanwhile... St. Francis Oncology has not reached out at all. I even called them to inform them Latte had passed when I canceled his internal medicine appointment -- and still, nothing. After $20,000+ in oncology visits, surgeries, chemo, and thousands more in ER visits, they couldn't even make one phone call. All of the people who ever cared have left, and now I understand why. We've brought three dogs to St. Francis since 2022. We have lost two under their care, partially due to negligence. We will never subject our last dog or any future pets to their unprofessional, unethical, profit-driven system again. Please, I am warning you: DO NOT take your pet here. Nothing is an emergency to them. Their turnover is alarming. Their empathy is gone. Their priorities are money, not your pet. Your pets deserve better. Blue Pearl, VEG, Dogwood -- literally anywhere else but St. Francis.

Seeing him like this was completely devastating. I brought him in to the emergency room for an examination and the doctor said that it was very unlikely that his health would improve. I was heartbroken and a complete mess. The staff was very kind to me. After deciding on euthanization, a staff member discussed the different options of cremation. I decided on a private cremation. I decided to stay with Jett while he was euthanized. The process was surprisingly peaceful. The room they placed us in was clean and calming. I was able to stay as long as I needed to. About 2 weeks later, they called to let me know that Jett's urn was ready for pickup. In addition to a beautiful urn, I also received a paw print and certificate of cremation. They even included a pamphlet on dealing with grief. Jett brought my family so much joy over the past 16 years and I'll miss him dearly. I am truly grateful for the staff at St. Vincent for showing genuine concern during my grief and assisting Jett with passing away peacefully.
