I've noticed that harsh reviews of churches often come from moments when someone felt convicted or disagreed with a message. That discomfort can turn into criticism, even when the pastor was simply teaching what they believe is biblical truth. For me, Cedar Park has been a place where the messages are honest, compassionate, and meant to strengthen people, not tear them down. This church is a place where the meaning of Jesus' love and grace reigns.

His emphasis is mostly about individuals' emotions. - A lot of focus is made on eating and playing more than doing individual and group evangelism, neighborhood prayer walks and door knocks, and labor to serve the poor, elderly, and sick, whether saved or unsaved. (Unless it's asking to give your financial earnings.) - NOTE: Elders/deacons are not on their site? Who are they? I asked some members and they had no idea.

There is something for everyone, whether it be in community with volunteer projects, bible study, potlucks, music, camping trips, family fun days, etc. They have coffee typically available during the service, and usually snacks where members mingle afterwards. Everyone I have encountered here has been very friendly, helpful, and welcoming - especially the pastor's wife. One of the comments I saw below mentioned that it seems segregated. Being of mixed descent, I do not feel any segregation among the group. In fact, I feel that it is very embracing of culture from all aspects. The writer also mentioned that there is a lack of male leadership. While I personally feel that the type of leadership should not matter - I will say the pastor and church does an excellent job of encouraging all members of the church to participate and be involved. This includes the women, the men, and even the youth. That is part of the reason I have enjoyed this church so much.

The congregation is a refreshing ethnic mix, made up mostly of Filipinos and Americans. The sermon was biblically sound, encouraging and challenging. I was invited to stay after the service for fellowship, coffee and snacks. After the fellowship hour, I was invited again to stay for the adult Sunday School class, and was impressed with both the humility and the depth of biblical understanding represented by the teacher as well as the class participants. I believe that at its heart Eastlake is the quintessence of what the future of the church will be. Its a trailblazer that is opening up new avenues for the existential exploration that my millennial generation is desperately seeking. I've spent my whole life in theologically conservative churches (i.e. Assembly of God, Calvinist, etc). I was a minister so I have preached about radical and unconditional love, but it was always shrouded in hope for something in the future, not a place here and now. In Eastlake, I think I've found a place too. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their beliefs or non-beliefs. Personally I've moved outside the bounds of my religious and supernaturalist dogmas. I love science, reason, philosophy, evidence, etc but I also yearn for the sacredness of a participatory communal experience. Eastlake is that. The music blew me away with its profound lyrics, the people are friendly, there is awesome childcare (the childcare team is fantastic!), coffee/food, and plenty of comfortable seating. If you are looking for yet another copy/paste evangelical church, of course this is not it. There are dozens all around. But if you're looking for a place to explore spirituality without traditionalist dogma and without weird supernaturalist woo that would make a science-minded person like me flee, this is it. This church truly provides you with the keys to salvation and the kingdom of heaven here on earth. Healing & miracles happens each and every service. Pastor Dan, John, Scott & Herb are the real deal. They practice what they preach. I am impressed & forever grateful for their help with restoration of my friends and family. I have had some bad church/religious experiences as a young child with the family of my aunt and her abusive husband & my cousins that kept me away from God. Also hearing all the horrific experiences my wife had- made me continue to doubt the Bible. But this new chapter and season of my life has turned me into a true believer. I lost my one true love, my wife, my best friend, my better half. My moon, my stars my everything. And I need Gods power to restore what the enemy took away 3 months ago. I made poor decisions but I am now walking by faith, love, hope & strength through the Spirit of the goodness of the Lord. I believe in the true power -- of Jesus & his sacrifice for my salvation & eternal gifts into his kingdom. I declare Jesus Christ as my Lord & savior & I let go of all strongholds.

Many came up to us and greeted and introduced themselves (&they weren't designated greeters). They introduced us to their families and others in church. They invited us to the upcoming 4th of July event (which we went to). And overall were cheerful kind and friendly. Honestly MORE people IN churches should be like this. What I mean is if you don't know someone or see someone new go out of your way to say hi and welcome them. It's not just the job of the greeters and staff. The church is predominately Russian, ukranian church body. A little diversity. They have an English service at 10am and Russian at 1230. People gather in the lobby chatting or grabbing a cup of coffee at their coffee bar in between services. Nice to see that sense of community. We'll go back again to continue getting a feel for if it's our home church.
