I absolutely love this church, full of God fearing people that are so loving, friendly and give all credit to Jesus! Perfect location. They bought out a school so all the extra classes make excellent for all the children; Mars Hill Kids Ministry.

(Actually my…read morewife drug me there, grumbling under my breath, ready to dismiss it the same way I had dismissed all the previous churches she had dragged me to. My history includes being raised in a religious home, believing I had to earn God's love... and ultimately giving up, converting to 'born again heathen'.) I heard the bible being taught, in context (as written, even the parts I didn't like) and Jesus proclaimed as God, sovereign over all. I came to saving faith in Jesus there. Not because of a particular pastor or leader, but because I heard the Word of God. I had not heard this in any other church, probably because I wasn't willing to listen, but also because too many churches fail to teach the bible. Ultimately, I believe God gave me the desire to listen, I don't get the credit. Since moving from Seattle to the Bothell area, Mars Hill Shoreline is closer. My mother in-law and a niece attend with us. Some will be offended by what is taught here: Jesus is God (we are not). The bible was authored by God, and perfect as originally written. The bible is about Jesus. The bible is not about us, it's for us. We are all sinners (rebels against God, trying to be our own god). Jesus loves us so much that He lived the life each of us should have lived, died the death we each deserve, rose from death on the third day conquering Satan, sin, death and the wrath of God so that He could give us His righteousness and make it possible to stand before a Holy and righteous God. Being a Christian is not about obeying a bunch of rules so that God will love us. Being a Christian is about accepting the love God has for us and the new desires He offers us, so that we want to live our lives as He intended. Sinners are welcome here, with the hope that Jesus will give them new desires, new identity and new life.

After visiting four other churches and being disappointed, we were invited to Mill Creek Foursquare. From the first service we attended, we knew we had found it (and we couldn't wait to go back!). The pastoral staff here is sound in teaching and Biblical knowledge, and they care deeply for the church community. The lead pastor, Chris Manginelli, told the congregation he loved them the first Sunday we were there. I was pleasantly surprised that he would show vulnerability like that in front of hundreds of people. Now, we are integrated in to the community and an active part of the volunteer leadership. We are so happy to call this place home! I also value how involved our church is in local and international missions, community life through small group gatherings, how we encourage and support women in leadership, social justice, and how well we love our children. Life is good here and the love of God is abundant!

(Will not reveal donor info privacy issues) They do not do fund raising for buildings they just wait until it is in the budget then fix the next thing on the list. They live in the black. Given that churches are technically a non profit charity I like a church that pursues charity work as well as being a church. They have a little food bank. They encourage and support start up charity's and donate regularly to other community charities. They help single mom's, teenagers, street people and so on. Your tithe money is passed on to various needs both regular and in emergency situations. At the end of the year once the budget has been met they give the rest as huge donations to help with needs.

I would say that the pictures on the Yelp site are not current, as Gateway Centre Church used to be in the building that now is home to Canyon Creek Church, and those pictures you see are their's. After hearing about Gateway Center Church (I guess formerly named Todays Church) at the Mariner's…read moregame, I decided to check it out for myself. The praise and worship was okay, a little loud and too long for my tastes, and I noticed that there weren't many people my age (late 30's). The offering teaching felt very "high pressure" and was off base. The preacher was intense at times and he went on for entirely too long (over an hour of just preaching). Many of the congregation members were what I can only characterize as spastic, either that or they just had way too much coffee that morning. By that I mean they were overly (fake) excited. I'm sure that the long time members that posted messages here love the church, but it's probably because they haven't been anywhere else in so long they don't know any different, I on the otherhand was a first timer, and I did not feel very welcomed. It was very clickish there and I didn't meet anyone because everyone was all caught up with everyone else. As far as it being a cult, I used to be in a christian cult for about 2 years (many years ago), and the one thing at this church that really stood out to me was that the offering teaching was taken out of context and was way off and it felt high pressure. I won't be going back to this church because I really didn't like it, I would recommend Bethany Christian Assembly, New Life Foursquare, or United Pentecostal (they are all within a few miles of Gateway) all of which I have attended and I have had much better experiences at those churches than I did at Gateway. Those churches also have incredible healings and miracles happening, but without the weird (un-biblical) doctrines, and with a much friendlier, more community oriented culture.
