On appointment day, the same receptionist needed to verify my insurance after we had done so the day prior on the phone. She called my insurance carrier and stated, in front of other patients, my insurance policy number, my date of birth and the fact that my coverage was "only $100". Again, she gave me and the other patrons waiting the feeling we were a real nuisance. VERY unprofessional staff. I'm pretty tolerant with poor customer service, but this was over the top. The manager excused the issue by saying the receptionist was having a bad day (at 9:00 a.m.) and offered a free eye exam. NO THANKS. Can't imagine trusting my eyesight to this outfit. Have to find another option.

I have used eye care for the Adirondacks for 14 years in Plattsburg. The treatment I have received…read morehas gone from OK to very bad. I have had 2 cataract surgeries By Dr Rinni there. I also have a PH.D. and I am not stupid. Yesterday 12/5/25 It was unbelievably unprofessional. Dr. Kapoor spent less than 5 minutes with me, explained nothing and did no counseling regarding my sensitivity to light, dry eyes or medications to be used. She would not listen to my concerns. She looked into my eyes for a minute spoke rapidly to an assistant typing notes into a computer and rapidly began dictating to a typist what to give me. She said, "Don't worry you will get printouts." She rushed out of the exam room and the Typist handed me four sheets of paper. One sheet was a new eyeglass prescription, 2nd was an appointment for 2026, 3rd was a patient hand out describing in technical terms possible detachment OU, and the 4th was description of medications available for use. The printouts were what one would find on AI. One of the medications was close to $1,000. Needless to say I will no longer use their services.

Second they don't tell you until the day of the cataract surgery that you have 3 follow up appointments that you need do! It would have been nice to know that ahead! I had to take more time off from work (and I didn't know ahead, so I could let my work know! ) to bring the patient back for followups. Third, they originally said they would do eye stents for glaucoma at the same time as the cataract surgery. They didn't do the stents AND they didn't say anything about it until our third and final visit for the cataract follow up!! They said insurance wouldn't cover it at the same time..?? Maybe not BUT you should have been upfront with your patient and tell them that BEFORE you proceed with the cataract surgery!! And forth, Dr Lampkin has terrible DR /patient communication! He's always gruff and in a hurry to get out of the room ASAP!! I don't recommend this eye doctor office at all! Stay away!!

I had one on my phone, but she flat-out REFUSED to look at it, email it, etc. She wouldn't call to get confirmation of the prescription. NOTHING. She said she couldn't do anything at all and that my prescription had expired. This is a blatant lie. NYS does not have expiration dates on glasses only contacts. I have plenty of contacts. This kind of customer service is the reason the are a constant ghost town. I went on Zenni and got glasses for $50 with rush shipping.

We were never told when making the appointment for an eye exam that they did not take Medicare…read more(even though over the phone we gave them Medicare and also part C insurance coverage numbers). It was not until after the appointment we learned we had to pay the full cost for an eye exam that has always been covered using another provider. They said they told us they did not take Medicare but I KNOW they did not as we were both on the phone and remember the call well. BEWARE... our part C insurance will not cover the exam unless they are billed by Medicare. As seniors on a fixed income we are not happy and we are stuck with the bill. We will never return and will inform our senior friends. That's the only good that can come out of this... more knowledge. Lesson learned the hard way. If I could rate them zero I would.
