I have used eye care for the Adirondacks for 14 years in Plattsburg. The treatment I have received has gone from OK to very bad. I have had 2 cataract surgeries By Dr Rinni there. I also have a PH.D. and I am not stupid. Yesterday 12/5/25 It was unbelievably unprofessional. Dr. Kapoor spent less than 5 minutes with me, explained nothing and did no counseling regarding my sensitivity to light, dry eyes or medications to be used. She would not listen to my concerns. She looked into my eyes for a minute spoke rapidly to an assistant typing notes into a computer and rapidly began dictating to a typist what to give me. She said, "Don't worry you will get printouts." She rushed out of the exam room and the Typist handed me four sheets of paper. One sheet was a new eyeglass prescription, 2nd was an appointment for 2026, 3rd was a patient hand out describing in technical terms possible detachment OU, and the 4th was description of medications available for use. The printouts were what one would find on AI. One of the medications was close to $1,000. Needless to say I will no longer use their services. read more

I'm hoping Dr Roy Arogyasami knows that the customer service at a business that was what was amazing is non existent... the office manager Andrew will actually lie about a conversation you had with him to fit his policy. I will be in today to pick up my records. Sadly, I am a customer that has been with Eye Care for the Adirondacks for probably 30+ years. The customer service phone line is horrible, scheduling manager actually lies to fit what's happening. If Dr. Roy wants more information about what's happening to his business overall rating with the public, he might want to talk to some of the customers... they're leaving! I've been going there for the same eye exams with two different doctors for many years and all of a sudden, no eyeglass prescription was done only Contacts... really? Now I need another appointment.! Very crappy eye doctor office!! First off, you ALWAYS have to wait at least an hour before you see the actual doctor. Second they don't tell you until the day of the cataract surgery that you have 3 follow up appointments that you need do! It would have been nice to know that ahead! I had to take more time off from work (and I didn't know ahead, so I could let my work know! ) to bring the patient back for followups. Third, they originally said they would do eye stents for glaucoma at the same time as the cataract surgery. They didn't do the stents AND they didn't say anything about it until our third and final visit for the cataract follow up!! They said insurance wouldn't cover it at the same time..?? Maybe not BUT you should have been upfront with your patient and tell them that BEFORE you proceed with the cataract surgery!! And forth, Dr Lampkin has terrible DR /patient communication! He's always gruff and in a hurry to get out of the room ASAP!! I don't recommend this eye doctor office at all! Stay away!! read more

I had brain surgery in 12/25..the brain injury effected my eye sight...I had to wait til this March for an exam.........I thought I was being tested for vision, new glasses...but when I went to get new prescription, I was told it was testing for medical reasons...not vision correcting....I have no idea what tests were done ....Dr. Kapoor came in exam room very excited said I lost half my sight and left.. I was confused since the nurse said she put a prescription in folder when i went to order what i thought were new glasses I was told at there was no new prescription just a copy of an old one from 2024....I have no idea what is wrong or if it can be corrected.....the staff in the prescription area said they don't know if vision can ever be corrected....we were left with fear....and no medical appt.....i called today for a copy of test results and to find out what test was done I was told the results were incomplete and no information is available....This is eye care at it's worst an not the care that was offered when this practice opened.... read more

I went here for over 10 years as it was the only place to go before we moved. I'm a fairly patient person - this place put me over the edge multiple times. My doc was ok, even good. But everything else here is horrible. I would recommend not getting your eyes checked compared to here. read more

Waited 11/2 past appointments time. When dr came in he put light to my eyes, spoke to technician about findings, got up and left. Was in room less than 5 minutes. When tech gave me receipt it had a bunch of stuff he discussed with me checked off. He never said anything except sorry for the wait. Tech rolled her eyes when I asked for a prescription and complained about check in person not doing her job by checking box for prescription. Receipt and scrip printed very quickly. I am never one to complain, but I had a routine eye appointment scheduled for Jan 2025 since I wear contact lenses and cannot renew my prescription/get more lenses without an updated eye exam; eye care rescheduled my appointment for Sept 2025, which I was furious about but accepted as I have no other choice. They then proceed to call me a week before my appointment and say they need to reschedule me for Dec 2026!!!!! Is this a joke? This place should be shut down. Never stepping foot in there again. How can you refuse to see a customer for over 2 years past their original appointment date when I have been going there for 20+ years. Never again. read more

I made the earliest appointment possible for my child to get his eyes examined so that he could be returned to school at a reasonable time. Sat in the waiting room for over an hour while multiple people who came in after me were taken for their exams. I talked to management for them to explain to me that they only had one doctor available for the day. But yet there were 40 some people in the waiting room downstairs and maybe 20 people upstairs. Like maybe instead of over extending yourself with shitty service only make appointments for the number of people you can responsibly take in one day. read more

I had an emergency visit with my primary physician in September 2024 who immediately referred me to this office. It took over a month for this office to acknowledge receipt of my referral and two more weeks before I was told that someone in this office reviewed my referral and decided I could wait until my regularly scheduled appointment in January of 2025 to be seen. When you enter the building, you get an overwhelming feeling that you are walking into the Fort Worth Stockyards. Now when one of the three people "working" has time for you, check in, but do not expect anyone with a personality. Hold all questions, as answers will only come from someone else whose job it is (good luck finding that person). So, although you are one of the first appointments of the day, get ready to sit in the waiting room for over 30 minutes. After getting called, you will visit the "doctor's nurse", then go back to the waiting room and wait another 20 minutes to see the doctor. Again, please do not expect any form of personal interaction or lollypop giveaways! This is a money-making puppy mill, not a small town local business where they know your name, remember you from last year or care about kids or pets. Surprise! After you wait in line to check out, you are not treated any better than the prodded victim ahead of you and they could care less about your experience. To volunteer feedback apparently is also someone else's job to listen (hence this online feedback). In light of it all, checking out was a gratifying feeling such that I imagined the two that escaped Dannemora Prison years ago, followed by a razor-sharp pain down my neck knowing that I to go back because it's the only place in town that takes veterans insurance. Sorry I can't provide feedback on the conveniently located overpriced optic office that you will pass on your way out the front door. I used up all of my daily "wait in line time" at my earlier scheduled appointment. So, after taking a half a day off from work, I gained as much information about the health of my eyes and unchanged prescription as my last week's visit to the dentist for a teeth cleaning. If you still plan to schedule an appointment, plan on another six months to year of your life passing before your eyes, if you still have your eyesight! read more

When I checked in I told the young lady I was there for a contact lens exam. When I saw the Dr I told her I was there for a contact lens exam. When I checked out ( with the same young lady who checked me in ) I was handed an eye glass prescription and told what I owed. Well here's the thing my insurance pays for one exam a year either contact lens OR an eye glass exam. They gave me both so I had to pay for the contact exam ( they billed my insurance for the glasses exam I did not ask for or need ). They refused to make it right I talked to billing and everyone who should have fixed their mix up and some of them were down right rude. IT'S THE LAST OF MY MONEY THEY WILL GET. My father had cataract surgeries They canceled his first surgery when we arrived for it. They claimed an emergency. His third appointment was changed from 7am to 6:15am with less than 24hrs notice to us. They claimed an emergency had been cancelled. You are expected to wait an hour or more after you check in for your scheduled appointment. Definitely stay away. My eye surgery will be done in Burlington. read more

For my 1st appt here I quickly discovered how awful this practice is they way overbook appt slots and my wait to see a doctor was 3 hours- some of the staff are friendly - many are not. The waiting room is overflowing with people- there is no privacy - hipaa practices are not as they should be. Despite having my daughters out of town eye surgeon fax up her surgical history and request for immediate 10 minute pressure test they only offered an appointment the following week. Our concerns were thankfully heard by genuine people at Plattsburgh Visionworks who told my college daughter to come in immediately and performed the requested meter pressure test that indeed require stat medication. At age 78, I have attended many eye clinics, within the USA and abroad. Never, never Have I had such terrible experiences as the ones with Eye Care For the Adirondacks. Other reviewers have called it a factory. Indeed. Other word to describe is a ZOO, The place is the most dysfunctional health care institution I have had to deal with. The place looks like an old and dark cave. The energy is rush, rush, rush. Yet the wait times are abominable. With some exceptions, the staff are kurt if not impolite. My first experience happened 2 years ago. Mistakes in appointment dates and times. I was moved 4 times to 4 different rooms, one smaller than the next one. Without thorough explanations, I was told to have cataract surgery. Without giving me time to ask questions, the doctor had left (had RAN out of the room). The staff member (yet another one, I had had 3 former ones) guided me to another space with a desk with a number of anxious and angry patients. I was left in the room with the "order" to make an appointment for cataract surgery. My "guide" than ran out of the room. Everybody runs in that place. Trying not to trip over the bulges in the old carpets. Since I had not sufficient explanation about the surgery, I refused to make an appointment. And ran out. (Now I had start running too.) This was 2 years ago. At present, August 2024. Because I know I needed cataract surgery, and didn't feel to go to distanced clinics, I decide to give the Adirondacks place another try. I made an appointment. The first signal that something was amiss, was that I constantly received different times. One said 1:00pm, another said 1:30PM. I decided to be there at 1:00pm. I encountered a number of confused patients. There were about 4 or 5 staff members behind an oval desk. The arrivals were not sure what to do, until one of the staff told us to line up at a spot she pointed at. I was helped with the intake. I went to the waiting room. At about 1:15pm (reasonable) I was guided to yet another, very narrow, space. First thing the staff member asked was: do you have someone to drive you home? No, I said, nobody had told me this was necessary. The lady told me that since I was seeing an Ophthalmologist I should expect to have my eye diluted. I told her that I had seen many Ophthalmologists in my last 5 years, and that only a few times my eyes needed to be diluted. Also, whenever they would dilute my eyes, they either gave me one of these "rolled" sunglasses, or I had used my own sunglasses. Never was I expected to have arranged for a "chauffeur." Well, the lady said, you should have expected your eyes to be diluted. I disagreed, that it would be the clinic's task to remind patients to arrange for a driver. The lady then asked me when I wanted to reschedule. By then I had seen enough. I told her I was done with Eye Care For the Adirondacks. And to take my file out off their system. DEAR PEOPLE: DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! IT IS WORTH IT TO DRIVE TO BURLINGTON VT, OR OTHER PLACE. read more

First, I have been a patient here for 30+ years and generally have been very happy with the care and attention. Sometimes the wait time is excessive but I planned for that. My optometrist has always been great. My complaint is with the Contacts Department. I had an eye exam mid-September and a trial set of contacts were ordered. I have always received trial contacts within a week. But this time when I called to check on the status, I always had to leave a voice mail with my name, cell number and birthdate. I also tried to leave a message for my optometrist as I knew she would solve the problem, but the call center said they were not allowed to contact any doctors. After calling 7 times and not receiving a call back, I stopped in 5 weeks after they should have been there. After explaining that I was there to complain that I had never received the contacts, the clerk at the desk went up to the contacts department and brought them down to me. The reason, she said, that I hadn't been called to come to pick them up was that I wasn't a member of Abby, even though I had left my name and number 7 times! No one had told me to sign up for Abby and when I tried to do that at home, it could only be done by the clinic. I was also told that Kyle would call to apologize - of course, no one did so I'm assuming that my being a patient there was not important. Based on that experience alone, I would never order contacts from them. From the rest of the complaints about the Contacts Department, it appears that this behavior is common. ZERO stars, but it required me click something. I've always known going in that its an all day affair. As someone that worked there a very long time ago (15 years) it is like an assembly line. The ophthalmologists having 60 plus patients (per doctor) per day when I had been there. There are now more techs so I have to assume they see at least that now! Techs (anyone) can be trained by watching someone for a week to do every test your doctor bases his thoughts and opinions on other than their 3 second exam. BUT, they're the only option within an hour of Plattsburgh for routine appointments. My 9 year old had an eye trauma over the weekend. I was told to call them first thing Monday to get her in. I did. The person (likely sitting in another country) was difficult to understand and triaged my daughters case. Knew her age, knew the symptoms/problems. Knew they wanted her to see a opthamologist not an optometrist. I was told she would have an appt today, they'd call me soon. Asked me to send er records/scans. Done! I get a call back 2 hours later offering me an appt with a doctor. Fortunately for me I knew that doctor is an optometrist, so I said we needed opthamologist. Okay, now have to wait again for someone to call me. Get a call back an hour later, I'm sorry we don't see pediatric patients you'll have to go to VT. ummm, what?!? Nobody knew that at 8am? and you claim a case manager reviewed the case?! I then ask to speak to someone in the building, a manager. manager tells me they schedule with optometrist if willing to see them just bc some people can't afford to travel, or because the pediateic specialist is booking a year out it can ease your mind. A year out for trauma, I doubt it! So they schedule appts with other someone just to get paid KNOWING we will have to be sent somewhere else. gross. Pediatric Opthamologist office in VT is great, they took history said absolutely they get kids in right away with trauma. in fact they said it's important as left untreated there can be long standing damage. Shame on you eye care. Money is the driving force of your business not the well being of patients....even if they're children. read more

I am astounded by the difficulty I have encountered trying to schedule an appointment as a new patient. All I need is a standard eye exam for eyeglasses. The first time I called the office on March 16, I was told that I had to have the records from my previous optometrist faxed into their office before they can schedule an appointment. I immediately arranged for that; and the office had my records by 4:00 PM that same day. When no one called me back, as they had promised, I called Trina back on March 19-- three days later. She said that she still couldn't schedule me for an appointment as my records had not been reviewed so that a doctor could be assigned. She said that because my records were now there, she could put that request in. I was disappointed that they hadn't called me back as promised and apparently hadn't even put my records into the queue for review. Not satisfied with this response and needing a new prescription for my glasses, I asked to speak to another person, and my call was turned over to Carissa. After some discussion, Carissa agreed to give me an appointment, but stated that the soonest one was May 20th at 7:00 AM -- two months out. She claimed that date was the soonest an optometrist was available. Frankly, I was surprised. The Website lists five optometrists on staff. How could a practice as large as this have a two month wait for something as simple as a basic exam for eyeglasses? I asked to speak to an office manager and was transferred to their patient care manager named Christy (or Kristy). Christy informed me that my appointment was now cancelled, and that Carissa should not have given me the appointment. Christy said that Carissa had felt pressured and should not have given me an appointment. She told me that I must wait until my records are reviewed and that it would take a week. I've never encountered a doctor's office giving and then taking away an appointment. And, to blame it on me! I was mortified. At this point, I have no appointment and I am waiting to be called back. I have left a message with their office manager and asked for a call with one of their owners -- Dr. Roy Arogyasami or Dr. Joseph Rini. I would like to stress that I was polite and well-spoken throughout my exchanges with the staff. I see that there are other very negative reviews on Yelp and other healthcare review sites for Eye Care for the Adirondacks, and I can now understand why. There are also sites that have captured complaints from past employees. I can't speak to the quality of their healthcare as I was not given an appointment; however, it's clear to me that this healthcare provider has some significant office process issues. Just an update: It is 3/24 and Christy just called me back saying that they had reviewed my records and were willing to give me an appointment with an opthamologist to update my prescription for my eyeglasses. She said that they had an appointment for tomorrow. Two conclusion I take from this situation: 1) It took 7 days for the team at Eye Care for the Adirondacks to review the records from my previous opthamologist. Christy repeatedly explained to me that they don't grant appointments with first reviewing the charts. I personally don't understand why they couldn't schedule my appointment once they had the records in hand. All I wanted is new prescription for my glasses. 2) When Carissa offered me that appoint at 7:00 AM at May 20th and said that it was the soonest appointment, it now appears that there were sooner appointments. read more

I had the best experience I've ever had with an eye doctor. My exam was so thorough and everybody on the team was amazing. I recommend them. Dr. Grynyk was very caring and compassionate about all of my eye care needs. And when it came time to order my glasses Kristie and Rachel were amazing they helped me pick out my glasses and helped me find the discounts whenever possible. I thank them all very much! read more

Do not trust this practice with your credit. They sent me a notice for payment, which I paid promptly. Then they referred me to a really aggressive collections agency in an attempt to collect a debt I'd just satisfied. When I found out, and contacted them, they claimed it was an error, but that doesn't repair the harm they did to my credit. Their mistake resulted in a 60 point drop in my credit rating and cost me money in higher interest fees and insurance premiums. I will be finding a new eye doctor who cares about their patients and their patients good credit. read more

I am only giving them one star . I called explaining that my glasses have a terrible chip in the right lense and I can't see out of it . They told me they were booked out until November . This used to be a nice practice! I took my daughter here for an exam today and the bulk of the exam was carried out by technicians. There was NO privacy; I could hear all about someone's contact lens troubles and they carried out a part of another mans vision exam in the middle of a waiting area! My daughter didn't get to see the optometrist until after her eyes were dilated and then that was very fast. She didn't mind and she's healthy but I remember a time when most of the exam was carried out by the optometrist and it wasn't hurried and you felt like they cared about you and your privacy. It's really sad! Don't get me wrong;all the techs were top notch but the system they have to work in is terrible and needs to be reorganized. read more

Been going there for 15 years as it's where my insurance is accepted. The eye care (medical) has been good, but there are some issues with the glasses department. My insurance allows myself and family to get a new pair of glasses every year. I'm not sure if this is an issue with this particular vendor, or if this is an insurance issue, but Eye Care mandates that you have to pick your glasses on the same date as your eye exam. If I get an exam but want my spouse to help me select frames, well, she better go along with me, as you are not allowed to come back on a subsequent day to pick your frames. I'm told if I don't do it on the same date as the exam, the insurance won't cover the glasses. That's an annoyance, but the following is worse. The main issue I have is that every year, sometimes multiple times a year, when myself or family members have our exams (each one on different dates throughout the year) and pick out frames, we are told that they will call us when the glasses arrive. We wait, and wait, and then after maybe a month of so, when I call to see what's up, I get told that they left a message on some date weeks before. I verify the phone number with them as correct, and I check my home answering machine, but I have rarely over the years gotten a message from them telling me the glasses are in. Someone in Eye Care charts that they are leaving messages, but that is a lie! I hate to put it that way, but whenever we are expecting glasses, we know we are not going to receive a message that they are in. It's happened so often we joke about it in advance amongst ourselves. I called today. My glasses arrived 25 days ago. No call back then when they arrived, and nothing since. Basically same as it always is! I wish there was a LenseCrafters here!!!!! read more
