So I gave Accordion-O-Rama the benefit of…read moredoubt after it took multiple emails and phone calls, over the course of more than a month, before I received a response to my initial enquiries for information on several specific models of new Excelsiors I had interest in. After owning only used accordions, this was to be my first new accordion, so I was quite excited about the process. After I finally established contact, I did get fairly prompt and helpful responses for a time. But this is a big purchase decision for me. I was planning to spend around $5000, so I had a lot of very specific questions--about features, reed quality, tuning, size, weight, price, availability, etc.--and I was taking my time to make the best decision I could make. Buying an accordion without being able to spend some time with it is a very big risk, so getting all questions answered is really the only way to mitigate some of the risk. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, they virtually stopped responding to my emails. In their final email they offered to spend time with me on the phone to "teach" (?!) me about the features and benefits of several models...but only after sending them a non-refundable advance payment of $250! That was the end of that! I kept my $250 and bought my new accordion elsewhere--from a dealer with a better idea that putting time and effort into "customer service" is actually part of his job to make a sale and not a sales item of its own!

Matt brought my guitar and ukelele from "Rustic Grime" to Masterpiece!…read more I brought my 20-year-old Walden Natura D550 and a vintage 1953 ukulele to Matt, and the results are honestly shocking. The '53 uke was in rough shape--old, rustic, and covered in decades of grime. Matt transformed it completely. He finely detailed the body until it was shining like a mantle piece, fixed the tuners, and recommended Nylgut strings that make it sound incredible. It went from a dusty relic to a daily player that I can't put down. For my Walden guitar, Matt performed "wild work." The action was high and the strings were dead, but he used a "cold clamp" technique on the neck and hand-carved a perfect unbleached bone saddle. He even recommended a spectacular cocobolo bridge to match the guitar's aesthetic and tone. Both instruments came back sounding "shockingly fantastic." If you have an instrument that has lost its "soul" or just needs expert engineering to sing again, Matt is the man to see. A true master of his craft and a total professional.
