I would like to say that I have had very nice work done by Jim in the repair shop.He recently took out some very hard to reach dents on my Olds Bb and had to take the horn apart to get them;I expected to see solder marks all along the leadpipe but the tpt looks like nothing was even done(except the dents are gone) Another thing is I have brought tpts there in the past thinking I needed valve alignments,when in fact they were fine, and he told me this. He is on the side of the players, understands the nature of the bizz, and will not try to extract $ for no reason. 5 stars for sure! read more

I was able to view and review instruments (mostly trombones) online with ease. I came across the one I was interested in, and made the purchase online. Dillon staff was able to send the trombone quickly, and WOW what a wonderful job in packing in making sure item was delivered safely. Even when I had a question (via telephone) with Josh, he was able to resolve my issue/question in a professional and quick manner. My son and I went in today with his clarinet which he was having some issues and we wanted to have repaired. They took a look at the instrument right away and fixed it while we waited! Not only did they fix it they didn't even charge us for the repair. We also decided to upgrade my sons mouthpiece while we were there which Damon helped us with. He showed us different mouthpieces and allowed my son to try it out and pick what worked best for him. Dillon's deserves a 5 for the quality and variety of their instrument inventory, instrument knowledge, and repair / maintenance services. The fact that high grade used instruments and accessories comprise a major portion of their collection is especially appreciated, and unusual. Their prices are competitive with other dealers I know who carry similar models and vintage grades. Be sure you're comparing apples to apples if they seem high relative to retailers who focus on school band instruments. Though I've noticed they carry a decent selection of entry level and 'upgrade' instruments as well, that are priced right for students and such. The staff and overall shop atmosphere are low key and friendly - no sales pressure or attitudes that I've seen. If you're buying your first instrument or want to step up to a range of models/prices you're not too familiar with, I'd recommend making an appointment. I purchased Wrights Silver Cream as it is not available or carried in the big grocery stores anymore. It arrived with polish all over the outside of the container. Upon opening, it was half empty, watered down with a used sponge. Unacceptable. read more

These guys are top notch. Dillons is a legendary music store and an experience every time you go there. Hundreds of horns to test out every time you go. I bought one of their Dillon brand euphoniums, they gave me a great value on my trade in. I did have one minor slide issue with the euphonium but I brought it back to them and they fixed it for free. They also gave me a free tube of slide grease for my troubles. I thought that was really nice of them. They are busy there but they do make sure that you feel like a valued customer. Considering the legends that walk through the door here, they treat average people just as well. read more

House of Classic Brass. Instruments, that is. (They now sell woodwinds too, apparently.) Moderate? Pricey? You decide. Several years ago, I went here with two friends who are brass players to look at horns. I saw a very beat-up looking euphonium hanging on the wall, and gave it a play. I went home, but had to return the following day to get it. It's a Cerveny Kaiserbariton, and once I had it overhauled and the leaks fixed, it became my favorite horn. I went to Dillon to buy a concert CC tuba for college, and the service was incredible. Matt Walters (repairman and tuba player) sat down with me and worked with me for almost 4 hours to find exactly what I was looking for in a tuba. He gave incredibly good explanations of what the parts of the tubas did to the sound and how they felt. Sadly I didn't find the perfect tuba for me at Dillon, but I cannot recommend their service more. read more

We live across the country so the entire transaction was via the web and over the phone. I purchased a large instrument and shipping was fast and exceedingly affordable. I find it ironic that the other reviews on Yelp are positive about the service at Dillon Music. If this review was purely about the service at this establishment, I would give it one star, although at a recent visit, Ben was the only helpful and kind member of the staff. The selection of instruments here is extremely good, and perhaps they know their selection is not often matched so they feel justified in treating their customers as if they are an inconvenience. Fast shipping: I don't know if they use a warehouse or if they stock that place with all the odd-ball things I want, but nothing has taken more than a week to get to me, and I'm on the other side of the country.
