Took the morning off work to meet them, then they decided to call and tell me they are not coming. Person on the phone told me they had no idea what was going on, wanted to schedule an appointment. I told them I had two scheduled and took off work. They told me there was no way they could ever have someone here at 9:30 so I don't know what the hell is going on over there, but apparently they can't fix a simple leak and they have no idea how to schedule an appointment. Awful, awful, awful stay far away. And besides that, the price was absolutely ridiculous to come move a drain and a water line.

The communication process was horrible from start to finish. I would call and leave a voicemail only to wait days to hear back. A week out they still couldn't price the project because the permit had not been completed yet (county's fault). A week after completion they called and left a voicemail advising me to take my washing machine off the septic system and to follow up. I call back and left a voicemail and they have yet to call me back over two weeks later. I had several friends recommend their services, but they will not be back to my house. They may be cheaper than other places, but you get what you pay for.

They came back and checked the floaters and said the floaters were fine. I called them back again because the alarm was still coming on and off. They told me the floaters needed to be replaced and quoted me $800. My husband thought that sounded high so I asked them to stop working and called our previous septic tank company. They came out right away and we learned 2 things - 1) Straight Flush only pumped one of the 2 septic tanks and did not clean the filter when they came out to pump our septic tank and 2) the floaters did not need too be replaced. Instead we had a short in the wiring from the pump to the alarm, in our crawlspace. We had the wire repaired by an electrician and that solved the problem Had my husband not stopped the work we would have paid over $800 to fix something that was not broken and then still would have had to pay an electrician to check and fix the wires. After talking to the owner I don't think we were intentionally mislead. Instead, I believe they were just guessing at what the problem "must be" and failed to rule out a wiring issue. Plus the $800 I was originally quoted by Straight Flush to replace the floater was later determined to be way above the $350 that the other local septic tank companies would have charged to replace the floater.

If you need a repair or installation of some kind, this gets you some results and communication with companies quickly. I bought a house in Rural Hall (north of Winston Salem) and it is not connected to city sewer and instead uses septic. Well since I was not made aware when the last time the septic tank was serviced and the average life is 3-5 years I thought it would be a good idea to get this done. I put in the request into the Project bidding and Yelp gave me four companies. Mountain View Septic came back with a response in less than five minutes and then another company in about ten minutes but wanted to talk about the job on the phone. After calling the other company and not hearing back from the other two I agreed to Mountain View's cost for the service. Christian gave me a good cost and had a 10% off on Yelp for first-time customers. We set up a time and I had to delay it due to a meeting I had scheduled. Christian was very flexible on the delay and showed up on time. After talking about the job for a few minutes Christian went about locating the septic tank and then once found, uncovered it and opened it up. According to Christian, the tanks were about 3/4 of the way full so I thought the timing of this service was great. I can imagine a nightmare of waking up in the middle of the night to backed-up toilets. The service was relatively quick and Christian was extremely informative about the septic tank and how it performs. I had no idea that much was involved in the process but he certainly did and it was good information to know about. If you need septic services I would highly recommend Mountain View Septic, although relatively new in the business, Christian was knowledgeable, friendly, flexible on the schedule, and reasonable on the costs.
