I hired Lawrence to repair an ice maker that had been broken for some time on Saturday, February 21st. He stated that the service call, parts, and labor would be $200. When he came out, he determined that ice had built up behind the refrigerator and he melted it. No parts were replaced, yet I was still charged the full $200. He said the ice maker should begin working within 24 hours. Unfortunately, the ice maker never started working. I scheduled a second appointment for him to return on Friday, February 27th. He cancelled the morning of the appointment due to physical therapy. Later that day, I asked when he would be available again and received no response until I followed up again by text 3 days later. On Monday, March 2nd, he said he could come Wednesday, March 4th, but did not provide a time after I asked. He finally provided a time at 10:36 AM Wednesday, stating he would arrive between 11 AM and 1 PM. Had this been communicated, it would have given both my tenant and me enough time to request time off instead of being notified at the last minute on the day of the appointment. I then requested a partial refund, but of course he still hasn't responded. $200 later and the ice maker still does not work. Communication and scheduling were very poor throughout the process.

Another contractor had previously caulked the sink and did a pretty rough job, and Chris not only fixed it -- he completely transformed it. He recaulked everything with care and precision, and the sink now looks and works so much better. Chris was also incredibly affable and easy to work with. He explained what he was doing, worked efficiently, and left everything clean and polished. I highly, highly recommend Chris H. if you can get him -- especially for kitchen sink work. Excellent craftsmanship and a great experience overall!

Reviews Yelp I…read morecalled Mr. Handyman of Newport News for an estimate to remove the full size shower door assembly and replace it with a new frameless one. I told her I had it in the box, in my garage. I had purchased it from Lowe's and it was unopened. I also a had a two steps set from our Laundry Room to the garage that needed a set of wooden handrails installed. I also had the wood for that too. She asked me to send pictures of each, which I did. She gave me a cost of $350-$500 estimate for the shower door, but reserved the cost for the step rails to the Handyman when he arrived. She set the arrival for Dec 12 at between 12-1:00. I received a text the day before to confirm the visit no time and I replied. I had asked for a courtesy call before he came, but received none. He showed up at 8:00 AM . Unacceptable to me, for we are retired and I was still asleep. I told him his mistake was he didn't ask for me, for I was the one that had call. He said he did 75% of his business with Wives and thought I wasn't home. I said you didn't ask. He had come in and checked the area. His cost was $550 which I didn't agree for shower door. I told him $500 as the lady told me as tops. He agreed. His price to add the step handles was $450 to install just two wooden handrails and side slats on the steps. I said no. He would have to come down. I called the business and explained to her that he went to Lowe's for materials, which I also had and I had idea what he'd needed. She asked me if I would let her hang up before he purchased anything and she would call me back? I agreed. No returned call. He returned with a written Work approval of for me to sign. I looked it over and it was blank except name, address and at the bottom a place for me to sign. This was an authorization to do the work. I told him I didn't sign blank documents. I told him to fill it out stating the work he was going to do, including the removal of old door assembly, disposal and clean up to my satisfaction. I further want a signed copy from him. He said I told you the cost would be $500. He seemed a little upset with what I wanted. He said let me go out to the truck and talk to my boss. I will come back and let you know. He drove off with no comment. Note: I learned a lesson a long time about signing blank documents and I haven't since. On the good side: The Handyman was courteous, with one acceptation, looked at the box with the door and wood for the steps. He seemed knowledgeable and wore covers on his shoes to protect our wooden floor. I cannot recommend this company. If you hire them, get it in writing, you may be regretful.

Isaac definitely delivered. We hadn't had our home…read moreprofessionally cleaned since we bought it--over two years of buildup--and recently had a panel of our siding blow off due to strong winds. Isaac came out to fix the siding and pressure wash the entire house. From the start, he was quick to respond, extremely communicative, and genuinely understanding of our situation. His pricing was more than fair--no price gouging, no awkward back-and-forth, and no need to haggle. Just honest, trustworthy service from someone who takes pride in his work. He didn't just get the job done--he went above and beyond. Our home looks beautiful, refreshed, and no longer like it's falling apart. We're beyond grateful and already planning to have him back for more work. 100% recommend to anyone looking for quality service from someone who truly cares.

He also gave us a very reasonable quote! He is a perfectionist. He cleaned up the after cutting the wood and composite materials and did a great job on the small deck. We absolutely would, and probably will hire him again. In fact, we had friends that are considering hiring after seeing his work on a project they are considering in the future. I can honestly say Issac is the first contractor we have hired that has actually impressed us.
