Quality of Work: The worker on the dominguez team worked hard replacing drywall, painting, and installing recess lighting. Actually, I'm very happy with the work of installation and painting. However, I'm very dissatisfied with the cleanup and supervision [below].
Management: Extremely poor. The team was supposed to come the day after labor day. I took off work to receive the team, but they never showed. Giving the company the benefit of the doubt, I waited two hours before calling. In short, the office management did not inform the work crew about the job and never called me to inform me of the mistake. Lisa did apologize for the mistake and told me that they'd still complete the job on schedule. The mistake cost me two nights of extra work at the office.
Once the drywall was installed, the team installed the recess lighting incorrectly, which they claimed was due to the remediation team we used to fix a leak. Bottom line: the wiring was exposed prior to the installation of the drywall and would have been easily visualized with a supervisor. However, the supervisor was not present throughout the process. Consequently, the team cut several holes in the drywall they installed before getting the placement correct. Frankly, the problems existed due to language barriers and a lack of supervision.
CLEAN UP: Unlike the remediation team, who taped off plastic curtains to contain the dust from covering our home, the Dominguez team only draped some plastic over the countertops. Consequently, the entire house was covered in dust from the drywall mud sanding. The Dominguez painting team did not bring any cleaning supplies, but did borrow our broom to sweep some dust. Nonetheless, sweeping was only a cursory cleaning and required us to clean the entire bottom floor, which took about 4 hours.
Customer Service: Perhaps, the worst part of the job was the customer service. I accepted the apology for failing to come on the day I took off from work. However, you'd assume the dominguez team would place extra effort into accomodating the customer- Not true. When the team left the job, they left the trash on the side of our house for me to pick up. I asked Lisa from the management office to please send the team to pick up the bags of trash and boxes, which could have been easily loaded into their truck bed. She responded passive aggressively to me and ultimatelyrefused to pick up the mess. Perhaps, if they hadn't wasted my time several days in a row, I could overlook it. However, the entire experience in aggregate was the worst contracting I've experienced.
I agree with the positive reviews about hard work preceding this post. However, if you value time and basic respectful customer service, I would stay away from the Dominguez Painting Company.
