The outer suburb of Normanhurst is located about 20 km north-west of the Sydney central business district.
Normanhurst station opened as Hornsby in 1895. The station and surrounding suburb was renamed Normanhurst in 1898 to avoid confusion with the adjacent Hornsby station, then known as Hornsby Junction, and previously known as Hornsby. A little confusing, yes.
My Homebush Boys High School rugby team would come up here to demolish Normanhurst Boys High School. It was nice that their school was close to the station. To tell you the truth, the train ride up here on school time on Wednesdays was just as much fun as playing rugby, with less chance of injury. We got to cut short language class, which may explain why I suck at languages besides of English. read more
