As an American, when I first saw the name, I couldn't help visualizing the Cheers bar with the loyal Norm holding up of side of it. But this is England, and the Norman name refers to a wholly alternate bunch of pub crawlers named "Norman" who hailed from what today is France.
In any event, the Norman Knight served as a wonderful reintroduction for me to the world of the British pub. Though my friend (who has a home nearby) and I only had time for a quick drink, the setting and cordiality of the owner were very pleasing, and the outdoor seating a perfect place to count the tens of cars that might...*might* ...drive by on a busy day.
NK brews its own beer; a lighter lager-like beer and a darker brown malt beer. Both were very tasty...I'll leave it to more educated beer aficianados to describe further, but from my perspective the beer was excellent and supported the perfect form of pub conversation unique to the British Isles.
The NK also serves food, which is well-known in the area. And, I suppose you don't get named as the "Warwickshire CAMRA pub of the year" by serving a pile of soggy chips. read more
