I have an autoimmune disease so a medication I'm on requires 6 month visits. I LOVE Irene, his receptionist. She always brightens my day. Dr. Razook is patient and listens to my concerns. He is very specific with his language to be sure I understand what he is saying. He is reassuring and has never failed to resolve my eye issues. I trust his expertise and now my husband sees him, too. He has wet macular degeneration. Dr. Razook sent him to Dr. Haivala who is also phenomenal. His practice has gotten much busier now. Kicks me out for cursing and calls me a bitch. So, I wouldn't go to this guy. He is full of himself as he has art all over the place and thinks he's better than everyone else not in his income bracket. I will be contacting my insurance to make sure he isn't paid. With the being said, I came here for my annual exam and not one staff member greeted the person infront of me, me or the person behind me. When it was my turn to check in, the staff members continued to communicate amongst themselves, the staff member on the left looked up and said, "Oh, someone will be with you in a moment". Then the woman next to her finished her story and then looked back at me and said "And what can I help you with...". I explained that I was there to check in for an appointment and she quickly looked me up and then said "Yeah.... I see you here but wanted to tell you that your insurance will cover your visit and all but won't cover your hardware (contacts and/or glasses) so wild you like to still be seen today". I quickly questioned why no one explained that when the office staff personally called me the business day before to confirm my appointment and insurance. She explained that she couldn't answer that because she wasn't the one who called me.... Fast forward: I continued with my exam with Dr. Burkhart who was not only amazing and kind but the MA before seeing her was AMAZING and the MA who was in the room with the provider was AMAZING. I explained to them my frustration I had earlier about the insurance issue and they brought in the clinic's manager. The manager explained she had no idea what was going on insurance wise as this was the first she heard about it but would ask. She left and returned with a wild explanation as to why they were not accepting my insurance coverage. I just got off the phone with my insurance who called them to question the entire situation and they admitted they told me false information. Needless to say, this front office staff is a joke.

I've been coming to Dr Flax for years. I like him and the care he provides. However, the business…read moreside of things has gone downhill. The waiting times are unacceptable, the staff schedules an appt for 8 am but they don't actually arrive at the office until 8 am, therefore they are behind from the start of the day. Additionally, the pricing is out of control, instead of keeping contact lens "fitting" as part of the regular price of an exam, it is now an extra charge although nothing in the exam has changed, they now also charge a fee for debit/credit card payments--this is a cost of doing business and is abhorrent. So, nickel and diming patients as well as making them wait an hour for an appt--overall not a good way to run a business.
