I highly recommend this business for excellent customer service as well as knowledge! I tried to get an OLD photo copied by using Snapfish, but it was very pixelated & turned out simply awful. I turned to Norman's Camera Shop, not only because of their quality reputation, but also the fact that the business has been a longstanding part of the local business community in Kalamazoo. I was VERY IMPRESSED with how fast they got my orders finished, but also how amazing the reproduction turned out! I can not recommend them enough! Thanks, Lisa Middleton Portage, MI read more

Norman Camera & Video - Antique family photo copy on left, original on right - Photography Stores & Services Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

We received great service and given a lot of helpful information. As a result, we picked a camera that was right for our needs. The only downside is that it seems their general inventory is on the low side, limiting said options. read more

Just had a intro photography class with Derek! 100% recommend he is definitely knowledgeable, makes the class enjoyable & you'll learn a lot with this one class!! Already have my next session booked with him! Norman staff was amazing, walked in going into a class, walked out with a new lens! read more

I had some film that needed to be developed and printed from a Hasselblad 550C/M Film Camera. I was expecting some questions and some resistance but they were very pleasant and they said that all I had to do was leave a five dollar deposit and they took down my information. I told them that when I was using the camera somebody tried to help me take the film out so it might be all exposed and there might not be any pictures. They told me that that's why they take the five dollar deposit because if that is the case, then it's just the chemicals they've used. Before I got to talk to them, there was a very talkative lady in front of me. Well she was telling her stories, I walked around the store to browse. They have some really cool old cameras in the back right hand corner that I spent some time looking at. They also sell different kinds of Polaroid film for ~$20 per back. read more

Great selection of film! I haven't been able to find able to find film any. They also have a lot of used and new excellent digital camera and lenses. read more

I had great experiences here when I was studying photography and College. Had a ton of fun with things like infrared film. The staff always gave great advice as well. Was thrilled with the price for an extra battery for my Canon on a recent visit, and the customer service was top notch. read more

Norman Camera & Video - Adorable photo frame - Photography Stores & Services Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

I have been buying stuff from Normans for 45 years. I bought a lens here last summer and was very satisfied. The employees are dedicated and helpful. read more

Item was not as described on Amazon. Upon return of item was charged large restocking fee. Norman Camera and Video should not be a Amazon Prime company. read more

Return shipping policy is outdated. I returned a product after it did not work out for me and even though I paid my own return shipping (only $7.60), they proceeded to charge me for the original shipping charge ($12.83), even though it said free shipping (not sure why their company gets such awful shipping rates compared to my own). When I asked why they told me to read their policy. So I ultimately lost $20 by buying from this retailer. I also received the $500 camera in a beat up box with cheap industrial looking pink packing foam that were dirty. Needless to say, it did not feel high-end nor was I excited about receiving my new camera. I would suggest using Adorama Camera instead. I ultimately bought a different camera from there and the experience was much better. While I understand companies might want to protect themselves from returns, why would an out of town customer want to buy from this store with the risk of losing money on a return item? The outbound shipping should be apart of the cost of business, and the customer should ultimately pay any return fees, with many retailers now covering even return fees. In my opinion, there are much better retailers out there that will make you feel safe when buying. Go there instead. read more

The staff is knowledgeable, but lacking in care for customers. I've been here a few times and every time attitudes run high. They have everything you may need or want within reason, but costs are very high. I've shown them cost differences at other places and they just don't seem to care. Then comes renting... they charge you the full amount of the item (when it's already used) plus a high per day amount. 50 dollars a day for a 300 portrait lens when you can go only and rent it for 30 bucks for a week. If I were them, I would understand that I'm losing revenue not from Amazon or competition, but from themselves. Change your attitude and I'll start spending my money here and keep it local. Until then, I will not shop here anymore. Good luck read more

A nice clean little store with decent parking - Norman in Kalamazoo is probably the best resource for photographers in West Michigan. This store has folks that seem to know what they are talking about, and will give you decent advice. (Of course, with any company, they want you to buy from them, so do your homework!) Talk to Randy - he knows his stuff and treats customers right. read more

Norman Camera & Video - Photography Stores & Services Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

The staff are very friendly and helpful. I especially like Matt, who has always been very professional and knowledgeable. Most of the staff have been there for a long time which means they have a lot of experience and know what they're talking about. read more

What a great photography source in Western Michigan. I'll usually buy items here that are expendable for field and studio work. Seamless Paper, Reflectors and the such. I would tell anyone getting into photography or purchasing equipment that this place has very good employees that can help describe product features and benefits. A great alternative to the Blue Box storre. They have pricing that is comparable to what you would pay for items online most of the time. read more

My husband is a local photographer in the area. Obviously, he has the ability to check available merchandise and prices online for whatever item he might desire in the photography realm. We, however, feel that it is so important to support our local businesses in the area. The guys at Norman's (especially Sean and Randy) have always gone out of their way to provide the best advice on the latest and greatest of what is available. They take time to work with you, and be sure you are satisfied with your purchase. read more

I ordered from online with this company and because I had concerns about where my package was since it was to be delivered in 2 days the got really upset because I was concerned. Customer service was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL still awaiting package, will edit comment to give a review on the merchandise on i receive it read more

Chuck C. is right. Never buy from this company on Amazon. They shipped me photo paper that was damaged, gave me the run around about returning it, and now they've completely stopped responding to my emails. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. Not to mention, I had a show the week I received the damaged paper from them. I called and emailed them only to hear from them 3 days after on the day of the show... It's been 2 months and still haven't gotten my money back. Thanks guys, great service. Will never buy from again and will do my best to get them off of Amazon. read more

Back in 1988 I bought my first Canon Rebel EOS film camera and all the accessories at Norman's. Thus began my long relationship with Norman Camera. Since that time I have bought other Canon cameras, had repairs, and bought accessories at this store. The sales team is top notch. They listen, give suggestions, and also take the time to show you features & functions. Their prices are comparable, plus you get the added benefit of talking with a live human being, instead of ordering online. I truly appreciate this one of a kind store in Kalamazoo. read more

Bad attitude by employees and management . its worth paying extra for good customer service .

I have only had the BEST experiences while shopping at Norman Camera. Their employees are all very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They match the price to Canon sales so you get them for the price you would from the actual site, even when items are on sale. They provide tons of information on purchases as well as recommendations for alternate lenses and camera bodies. I love coming here and will give them my business indefinitely for the future! read more

Unfortunately, I have to echo what others have said about Norman Camera using Amazon. BEWARE!! I purchased an item that was mis advertised as working on Sony cameras. It did not work on mine (Sony A7ii) so I requested a return. First, I was told I would have to wait to see if Norman Camera would even approve my return (which I found insulting considering they were responsible for the mis advertising) but then they informed me they would not pay for the return shipping AND they would not accept it if I did not return it with insurance and a return receipt. These requirements cost me $15.05 (for a $95 item). Of course, I will not purchase anything from Norman Camera again, and I caution anyone, only purchase from them if you know for certain you will not need to return anything (or have to deal with customer service at all)! read more

Bought a lens from them a year ago and gave it lots of use before it suddenly stopped auto-focusing. Took it back to them, and after they verified my purchase and the current problem, they immediately sent the lens out for repair under the manufacturer's warranty -- no questions asked. I got the lens back in 2.5 weeks in perfect condition. Didn't even pay for postage. This kind of great service will always earn my continuing patronage, and renews my faith in brick-and-mortar business. read more

After speaking to them on the phone, to make sure the Nikon camera was in stock, I placed my order. 3 days later I received a cancellation email stating item wasn't in stock when they specifically told me it was. Have to make sure I am fully refunded with my CC as it was charged. I would look elsewhere first. read more

Never buy from this buyer at Amazon, they advertise false things and when you want to send them back, they ask you for the broken plastic that you had to open to see it!!! So I sent a case for a camera falsely advertised for my model, of course I didn't use it because it was for other model, I paid the shipment (12) and told me that I had to send the broken plastic for them to reimburse as a new product. Long story short, I paid 50 for the case, I paid 12 for the shipping, they wanted me to pay another 12 for the broken plastic and finally they told me that they will reimburse me as a USED PRODUCT. Total unethical seller. read more

Never buy from them on Amazon. They sell you something take your money and never ship the product and then give you the run around for a refund. They say the product is out of stock but they still have it listed on Amazon and their website as in stock. I had to file a fraud complaint with my bank to get the money back. DON'T TRUST THEM! read more

I have been shopping at Norman Camera in Kalamazoo since the late 1970's. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and they have gear in stock for the first time camera buyer through professional photographers and videographers. Their prices are comparable to B&H and Adorama. They give fair trade in prices if you are trading up. They also host manufacturer shows for camera and equipment makers like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Manfrotto, etc. And they offer custom printing and camera classes. Once in a while, seminars by big name photographers. For a small company, they do amazing things. read more

Over the last several years, I have purchased just about all of my camera equipment from Norman Camera in Kalamazoo. I will tell you something, this store is very special. It is a camera store that is run by photographers and has photographers on its sales staff. I have dealt with all of them and I will not buy any of my camera equipment from any place else. They have an awesome web site but even more, they are a brick and mortar store that stands behind what it sells. Have a question, they will answer it and answer it honestly, not just to make a sale. I live an hour and a half away and I will tell you something, sometimes I make the drive just to talk about photography. The one question I have never asked all the time I have been up there is do they work on commission so I am not sure of that but no matter who you deal with; Andy, Pat, Sean, Matt or Randy, they will treat you great! Do yourself a favor and try them. You won't be sorry. read more

I bought a Manfrotto tripod from Jet.com to test out it's "extra saving" business model and jet definitely saved me a twenty or so dollars but I should have known better. The slip said the product came from Norman Camera & Video from Kalamazoo, MI. The tripod came in a dented cardboard box with scuff marks on the actual item with no tripod plate, no carrying bag, no manufacturing paperwork, no outer manufacturing plastic packaging, and the tension is not tight enough to keep the legs from folding in on itself which I can only conclude as it is an used item. Now I have to contend with jet.com to get my money back for an used non-working product. This is the third tripod I have bought overall and the second Manfrotto tripod. I know what should be in a brand new box for a Manfrotto tripod. These guys seem to be trying to pull a fast one. How do you send someone a tripod without the main piece that attaches a camera to it?! The tripod is useless without the plate and that is obvious. Even if they were to repackage a floor model for re-sale while trying to pass it off as new, at least put everything back in the box. Don't trust these guys. By the look of other reviewers, they are dealing shady business online, but they maybe okay if you go in person to the physical location. Perhaps you need to review the person in charge of the online account because they are either incompetent or they are running a scam. Either way, you need to seriously review your online presence b/c if jet.com had disclosed where this item was coming from, I definitely would have passed on it after reading these reviews. You should be ashamed of yourself for your dishonest dealings. read more
