The guy that works here is pretty cool. The store itself is small and cramp but it has alot of good records. I saw about ten that I wanted to walk away with but settled on a 2017 press of Box Car Racer and a 1986 press of the soundtrack to Pretty in Pink. (FYI there is a more recent press of this that is colored pink, if you can find it.) Unlike some stores downtown, this one is in an area that you could find parking for. read more

This business was super nice and generous. I had found records in my grandmothers home and they were going to be tossed. I brought them in to see if there was anything of interest. They took the time to go through them and gave me cash even though they didn't want them lol. I'm not a record person but on character alone, I'd recommend this place. read more

Great place to find records - they're always getting in new (for their store) records so a fun place to stop by semi-regularly. I went in one evening on my way to Belching Beaver and saw a Sly and the Family Stone record in the "new" section. Excitedly bought it, took it home, and found that it was pretty scratched up. I took it back a few days later and the guy was gracious enough to take it back and give me a full refund! He said that he would clean it up and see if it worked any better. Even took my number so that he could let me know if it did end up improving the sound. Sure enough, a couple of days letter I got a text letting me know that it was working fairly well, still a few issues but definitely listenable. Planning to go back and re-buy it when I get a chance (and hopefully nobody else has snatched it up yet!). read more

Normal records definitely holds its own, the stand out of this place is 90-today indie,punk, and post punk along with just general rarities, og copies of Beck, Black Flag, The replacements, and Sonic youth just to name a few. The other day I bought a brand new Rage Against The Machine record and I was really excited to give it a spin, but when I got home I found it to be really warped right out of the new packaging. I went back the next day and talked to Caleb and without question he replaced my warped record with another new Rage Against The Machine record. While this store doesn't carry nearly as many records as their previous location, it's still a great place to score some fantastic tunage. They have a good selection of genres, and if you dig hard enough, you'll uncover a few gems. I found one of my favorite albums (Otis Spann) here through the suggestion of the clerk. I've also sold albums here and they do have a competitive pay out but you should take the store credit instead. Take an afternoon and go check them out. A quiet little vinyl shop. Selection was great including stuff often plucked out from other stores or obscure and less recognized stuff. Prices were very reasonable and after spending an entire day going from record store to record store, I actually got something because of its reasonable price. Service was friendly. Not a bad place, but for someone who has a wide palette of music taste and been to many places outside of San Diego, will find this place a bit underwhelming. The selection here is curated and priced to reflect the current market, so you'll find quite a bit more mainstream than obscure releases. It took me less than an hour to breeze through the whole store, but I did come away with a couple neat finds. YMMV. My real complaint is the over abundance of Barbara Streisand and Olivia Newton John vinyls occupying the bargain bin section. Overall, a decent distraction if you're in the area. read more

This is cozy little store without any bells and whistles. There's not much here as far as scores for used rarities, but the new punk and metal vinyl is decently stocked. As an out-of-towner I wouldn't recommend this as a destination spot, but the local hardcore kids should be thankful that they can pick up Revelation reissues at decent prices. I did buy a pair of those mini vinyl coasters though which look cool and work well with my morning cup of coffee. Support your local record shop! read more

This rating isn't for the quality of the product that they carry. I didn't even get that in depth because I didn't feel too welcomed. I asked the man a couple questions and he gave me very uninterested responses, not looking away from his computer the entire time. Most of the other record stores I've gone to im SD have given me great service and go above and beyond to detail some of what they have in stock based off what I'm looking for. I probably won't be going back here again for anything. Disappointing first experience. read more
