Upon entering the store it's filled with rich horror, culture, and metal music merchandise, which is super cool! They have interesting niche items here that you probably won't be able to find anywhere else. I picked up a few cool horror, movie magnets, and some spooky enamel pins. I grabbed the pins as gifts and I put the magnets on my fridge when I got home. The staff were very friendly, and if you have any questions, they will absolutely answer them for you, so that's helpful. And of course there's plenty of records in music to look through while you're there, you're bound to find a record you might want to take home. As far as the value goes, everything seemed fairly priced. Definitely a cool spot if you're into horror movies, and underground music! There are not too many places like this left here in San Diego.

It felt like the old school days browsing through old records and finding great deals... unlike other stores where they overcharge. The owner was sweet and very welcoming which was appreciated. I was able to find a few vinyls to add to my slow growing collection. The other side was more of the consignment area, offering a variety of items, from comic books, to vintage Barbie's, to furniture and more. When I make it back to this area, I will definitely stop by again.

The mall is set up where there are small stations throughout (like a mall) where each one sells their unique goods. Recently, I drove to the La Mesa store with a car full of donations during a very heavy rainstorm. I pulled up to the marked donation drop-off door but was told I could not park there and needed to move across the lot, get a cart, and bring everything in myself. I explained that i was not parking, I am handicapped and offloading since it was pouring rain, but was still told no. I ended up leaving without donating or shopping. As a loyal supporter of FJV, I was very disappointed by the lack of understanding and outright rudness.

You can drive up during their business hours to donate. Sometimes the parking can be challenging. If so, the staff will happily help you tote your donated items from your car parking spot. They ask if you need a receipt for tax purposes as well. The inside of the store is very well organized and they seem to always have furniture available. They arrange the displays well and they are very reasonable about negotiating prices within reasonable constraints. Keep in mind that they are mostly volunteers so when they say that they cannot go lower on a negotiated price, please respect that as a patron. Good people, great thrift/resale store, and good donation site.
