When I enter a record store I look for two things right away. One is engagement from the owner or employee that happens to be working that day. Second is organization. I have been crate digging for over 15 years and I am starting to appreciate organization more and more! Feelit Records was suggested to me from a DJ homie in Chicago as "A MUST" to visit! When the day came for me to visit, Owner Mark was working that day and immediately introduced himself and offered up suggestions and how to navigate the layout of the store. Mark is SUPER knowledgeable about music and has a passion to serve his customers. His store is cozy, warm and welcoming. I have got to experience some cool events hosted at his store. A local skratch crew hosts cutting sessions outside the store on the sidewalk!! No matter your skill, you can come up meet new people and start scratching! MIND-BLOWN!! Second cool experience is Record Store Day 2019. I was first in line because i was THIRSTY to get my hands on a copy of The Crow Soundtrack. This album has been a Holy Grail of mine and I now have a chance to score a copy. As the line grew longer and longer, and Mark was getting close to open up. The moment I walked in here I was mesmerized, this place is covered in all kinds of music. Although the place is small, it has everything a vinyl lover can ask for. The selection is very good and the man working there was very nice and helpful, the price range is really depending on what record you want, but from what I found, it was an excellent price. So today I walked in the shop (with my daughter: she loves music as well). I see this record... not in the crates nor in the shelving. It was a pre-owned 12"... and there was a name/tag on it. J.RELLS. That's my uncle's record. *So to rewind: JRELLS is my uncle Jessie Rells. He was an avid record collector/DJ...* I recognized that and had to buy that record. HAD to!!! bring it back home. My uncle Jessie died of cancer years prior... and his records.. idk what to say. I got 1 record to bring home to family, in regards to to my uncle. It was a sign. from this day forward Imma keep digging for his records. The guy that rang me up told me he pulled that record out before my daughter and I walked in the shop. The selection that they have was great and diverse. They had a range from old to new vinyls. I picked up two vinyls from there that I would have never expected to find. I checked out this place on a lark when in San Diego, and I am very happy I made the time. I DJ, but don't have a ton of Vinyl. In an effort to rectify this situation, I was diving through the bins here and checking out various artists. The staff setup a listening station for me, and next thing I know a super-knowledgeable guy is helping me with virtually any questions I can muster. He's pulling LP's and EP's like crazy, and now I'm hip-deep in some amazing local music that I NEVER would have found in a million years online. Left with some great music and an incredibly positive impression of the staff and location. I always like to drop in to local record stores when I have to travel for business. This week I found myself in San Diego with some time on my hands, so I looked up nearby record stores on Yelp, and FeeLit looked appealing. I found everything that I like in a record store at FeeLit. Mark the owner has a cool and welcoming vibe, and was quick to offer something for me to sit on while I dug through the floor level crates. And speaking of crates, there's a nice balance of organization and bargain bins here. My favorite part of shopping is crate digging, and there was plenty to dig through. Mark was spinning some funky local music on a great sound system (at good volume!), and also played a couple of records that I was curious about. The kicker was when I noticed an original pressing of Silver Apples on the wall and pulled it down. That had been on my want list for a long time and Mark was asking a really reasonable price for a very clean copy. I don't often buy the wall copies in stores since I'm a bargain shopper, but I just had to pick it up this time. In addition to rock, funk and jazz, the shop has a huge selection of hip hop and electronic (house, d&b) records. I dabble in fringes of those genres, and I was blown away by the depth they had to offer. There's easily enough there to make it worth a serious collector's time to dig through. All-in-all a great place to shop, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in San Diego. read more

Went here for the first time and loved everything about it. Jeffery is awesome! He showed a genuine interest in my taste of music and even put on an LP that he thought I would like. (Which he was right about, and I ended up buying) The display and overall layout of the store is probably one of the best I've seen in San Diego. I went in looking specifically for a particular vinyl, they didn't have it, but they added me to their email list in case they do end up getting it. I really appreciated that! While they have an extensive (and impressive) amount of hip hop vinyl, my favorite part about FeeLit is the scratch vinyl! Last day of my conference googled "music store" and found this place walking distance from downtown. Very easy to find, just walk east on E street on the south side of the street. Great place. Small intimate shop, with the style of a boutique. The owner is knowledgeable and someone who cares about the products he is representing. Thanks to Mark I bought a fantastic CD by local group "The Burning of Rome" and an brilliantly illustrated book by Billy Martinez. A short trip down E street made my trip. I went to FeeLit for an art show, and my first impression was whoever did the installation of the pieces had done a GREAT job. The pieces were placed creatively, with a lot of care and thought. So many times you go to art shows and pieces are just thrown up on the wall without much consideration. Here the art became a *part* of the store. It was fun to explore and see how he had managed to interlace the artists' pieces with the "normal" store items. Turns out it the art installation was done by MarkAllen, the owner, and I must say he has great taste. I saw something from each artist that I would love to have grace my own walls. Also enjoyed the t-shirt designs he had selected for sale. First time in a long time that I walked into a store and saw sooo many things I wanted to buy actually.
