Great time on the Norma K III. Cabin is spacious, clean and has ample seating. There is a small eating area with some snacking options. Our mate even made hotdogs for passengers. The day we went did not have a massive number of people onboard. The charters I've done at the Shore are usually crammed with people. It was refreshing to have some space to move around on the Norma K III. Hardworking Captain Tom (think that was his name) who moves around a lot to get you as many chances as possible to get a catch. I'm a newbie to fishing and caught my biggest fish (blue fish) ever in the Norma K III. Our mate, Xavier was affable, helpful, informative and a great addition to the crew. I would definitely recommend the Norma K III and we plan on going out again with them. I actually want to give them 5 stars but will hold off for at least 1 more outing. If my next one is as enjoyable as today then they will definitely update to 5 Star. read more

Had a fantastic time on the Norma K! The boat is clean and the crew is friendly and accommodating. Everything from parking to getting on the boat was seamless with numerous employees helpfully pointing the way. The mate Katie was phenomenal, helping every step of the way, which was greatly appreciated for someone like me who doesn't fish. Besides a great time fishing I enjoyed the boat ride along the coast. This was the BEST fishing trip ever...and umm...our first. I was searching out fishing charters to take two teenage boys on (14 & 17 yr old). There were many places on line to sift through and I needed this to be GREAT! I called the number for reservations and the lady I spoke to was so friendly, answered all of my (many) questions, and reassured me every step of the way. She reassured me we'd have a seat on the boat, didn't even make me pay for it to hold it, and just told me to call back closer to the date we needed to check the weather bc it was iffy the previous day. I called back, they took my basic info over the phone, and I paid for the trip upon arrival to the dock. They took care of EVERYTHING!! Rod&Reel, Ice, bucket, bait, rigging our line, etc... We only had a basic knowledge of fishing, and the crew took awesome care of us, (without making any of us especially me- a squeemish of fish-mom, feel stupid!). They hooked us up with everything we needed, made sure we were set and came around very often to help (such as untangling our lines if it hooked on the rocks, if the line became tangled on the reel, help to get the HUGE fish we caught OFF the hook, cleaning the fish, re-rigging the line after we lost (more than one) sinker). The mate Anthony was so patient, and made us feel totally welcome, as well as Capt. Matty! He took us to at least 6-8 different fishing grounds until we hit it big. I caught a huge Ling fish, and my partner's son caught a sizable keeper of a flounder! My son also caught a smaller flounder (which we threw back). They all really cared about our experience, were extremely knowledgeable, and made us feel very welcome from start to finish. I definitely recommend this charter company to anyone. There were seasoned fisherpeople on board who've been taking trips on the Norma K III for over a decade, and us who were first timers. The price was more than reasonable for all that was included. Great experience out on the K today. Been going out on this boat for years and they never disappoint. I feel safe in the captains hands and he always puts us over some fish. They are also usually helpful when someone needs instruction, detangling, rod re rigged etc. It's $6 bucks for a rod rental and they give you bait with that. If you break off a rig it's $1.50 and $2 bucks for a new sinker. $49 bucks for a half day of fluking is a great deal, plus they run a pool for the biggest fish which is always fun to get in on. read more

We've gone out on this boat several times in the last few years. The boat is clean and the staff at the dock and onboard are friendly. The only other reviewer stated that there was more driving than fishing, but there is a reason for this. If there are few to no bites after about 10 minutes, the captain knows to pick a better location. The captains on this boat have many years of experience in these waters, and I think this strategy is a good one. Sadly we did not have much luck last year, but some of the fault rests on our use of unpopular lures. On our next trip we will be armed with more advanced ones. The mates onboard seem to vary, some being good, others less so. I won't name names, but a few fish that were millimeters away from being keepers were quickly thrown back before we could dispute. If we have better luck on this year's voyages, I won't have a problem awarding an extra star. read more

Went out Friday afternoon, after the rain passed. There was a fairly large group which was awesome. I'm fairly sure every group caught 6-7 times and brought home 2-3 fish each! It was a crappy morning of rain and thunderstorms, which turned into a dry and cloudy day! We caught many different fish. The captain and crew were very very knowledgeable about any questions we had. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning for sure next year! read more

Overall good time, crew was really helpful for the most part except for the guy who was weighing the winning pool fish, he refused to weigh my fish even tho it was clearly larger then the winning fish, clearly rigged and gave the money to his buddy. read more

These guys are THE BEST!! We're a family of 5 including 3 kids under 12 with only minimal fishing experience and NO deep sea fishing experience. The crew was patient and explained every detail. Went out at night on the Norma K, crew was unhelpful, they didn't speak to anyone. We also didn't catch fish, or even receive instruction. There were also two men freely smoking weed on the deck (not crew members). Save your money and go surf fish Barnegat Light. read more

I've been on this boat once before and had a so so experience, but this time was bad. We started out with an hour long trip to the fishing grounds. I'm a fisherman and I know you have to go where the fish are, I don't have a single issue with this. The problem was with the trip back. After our stay at the grounds, where everyone, including myself, caught fish. We pulled anchor and headed full steam for the docks that lasted all of 10 minutes when the ship went dark( did I mention it was a night trip) and we stopped. Let me say that it's not cool to be floating helplessly about 15 miles off shore. We over heard the crew saying that we might not have enough fuel to get back!!! This is not acceptable on any level!!! We had to run at roughly 5 MPH without lights all the way back in, including running lights(which is a Coast Guard requirement). We were in a cabin in the dark!!! Now I did say that everybody caught fish and I as well as others had a good trip until the ride back, but this is no way to run a boat!!! The captain even joked that "I guess this will be a trip that everyone will remember". Yes captain, we will remember it, for all the wrong reasons. Simply based on the crew almost making it seem like it was our fault, I will never go on this boat again and I suggest that you avoid it as well. read more
