My wife and I purchased a patio cover about 2.5 years ago from Desert Sun. We had an estimate done…read moreby a personable young man named Blake, and a couple weeks later they arranged for an installer to come to our home and complete the work. FF to today and we decided to have our deck closed in and turned into a three season room. We again contacted Desert Sun, and they sent out Blake to give us an estimate to enclose our deck. The estimate came in just shy of nine thousand dollars. That means the entire cost of the three season room was close to $16,000. They also wanted a 50% deposit upon ordering, with the balance due when the parts were picked up. Blake said they expected the parts for the room to be in around 1.5 to 2.5 weeks. This is where things, IMO went downhill It took 5 weeks to get the parts. I kept calling every week after waiting almost 20 days, and they had an excuse every time I called. I called on Monday, then they said it should be in Wednesday. I called back Wednesday, then they said it should be Friday. This went on for another two weeks. Finally the parts arrived and when I tried to pay the balance (with MasterCard) the owner said I couldn't because of the fees he would have to pay. (not my problem). I assumed since I put the deposit on with credit, I could pay the balance with credit. We wanted to do this to collect AirMiles on the purchase. The owner of Desert Sun, Bob was not the easiest to deal with when it came to this issue. What he came up with in the end was that I pay $75 dollars (50% of what the credit card company would charge him). The end result was I paid the balance by cheque which he allowed me to post date by one week. Fast forward to the next week, and we had our original installer (Mike) who built our patio cover build our sun room. I can't say enough good things about Mike. He's very good at what he does and is very particular. What happened near the end of the install is what gets interesting. The sun room kit that was ordered was short a window. Plus we added another one. When Mike the installer called Bob the owner he was placed on SPEAKER so I could hear his thoughts on windows. Mike said he was on speaker, but Bob never caught it. Mike began to tell Bob about the windows and started to say that I didn't want to pay much for them. That's when Bob called me "A CHEAP SON OF A BITCH". I fail to see how I'm a cheap S.O.B. especially since I just gave him close to 9 thousand dollars. I got on the phone after him calling me that, the conversation started by me saying "Hello Bob, it's Ed the cheap son of a bitch" he apologized and Mike and I had a serious conversation about Bob. Is it me, or should you not be calling your customers names ?????? In the end the sun room looks great (Thanks to Mike). As for me recommending Desert Sun Patios, maybe a couple of months ago. If you need an installer though, I can get you in touch with Mike. Oh yeah still waiting on my two windows. They said 5 days, and it's now 7.

This is the first bad review I have written but unfortunately, I feel that I had such poor service…read moreand workmanship from Luxury Drywall that I believe this review is warranted. I would also like to say that Jax, the owner, has a friendly demeanor but everything related to my project was a disaster. To make a long story short - the job was never completed - the owner gave up eventually not even completing the boarding when it should have been completed to a level 5 finish (ceiling) and painted throughout. - the owner and partner at the time rarely showed up and absences and late arrivals were met with excuses (and there were plenty)...5 weeks for a partially boarded basement. - the workmanship was poor (suspected by me and confirmed by other experts) and required the drywall to be torn out. - I watched as a drywall section that I purchased was taken to another client (bit my tongue while watching this on one occasion). All they had to do was ask if they could take a scrap piece. - No effort was taken to reduce the cost that I was paying for material. I had to renegotiate one particular order myself. - No effort to rationalize the retainer that was paid upfront as goodwill upon my termination of the project In conclusion, the lack of effort cost me financially and was stressful. They were completely unreasonable, unprofessional and unqualified. There was no "Luxury" in this company's work. Although Jax is a nice person I would never again hire this individual or this company.

Darryl was incredibly easy to work with at 1st but was just telling me what I wanted to hear. After…read morerecieving damaged/flawed flooring he offered to have it remade but unfortunately that wouldve taken weeks and would have cost more than 100k in office fees, not to mention all the scheduled trades wouldnt be available to finish the project on that timeline. So I had made a suggestion that if we had been compensated for the Hassel I could make the flawed flooring work by installing a herringbone pattern and double cutting the the frayed edging. Keep in mind this would take 3x or more the effort on the installer side of things but we could keep the project on schedule, he wouldn't have to send the carpet tiles back and have them remade, wouldnt have to redeliver the materials, or cover the costs of office rental which was 50k alone for the one work space. So in all saving Floors on Crowfoot a ton of money, the hassle of sending it back and having it remade, enabling them to save face and come out on top. The deal was 15% of the over all flooring to be discounted and given to the installers to cover the extra work load. The agreed upon number was 18k which by all means was an amazing deal for the store and the flooring manufacturers. After the job was installed and completed Darrell cut a cheque for 6k to go to the installers for all the extra work that was involved. Shouldve known better than to trust a salesperson. So buyer beware, Darrell is a liar and a theif and I would never spend a cent in this store. If your looking to purchase flooring go to Jondan's!! They have amazing selection and their reviews are top notch!

Potential customer should know that when you hire Lee Valley Carpentry, you have Mark doing the work not some inexperienced handyman. My patio and deck project required both new install and working with existent features. Mark ensured that everything was beautifully aligned and the products that he used were top quality. He is extremely easy to communicate with and is able to explain very clearly how everything will come together. In short, if you want an outdoor living space that you take pride in and want to last, you should work with Mark. There are simply too many companies, putting up lousy fences and decks that look good for two years and then everything starts lean. This won't happen with Lee Valley Carpentry.
