We needed to have our aunt transferred internationally to the Philippines so she could be brought home and laid to rest, and we had no idea how complicated that process would be. Santa Clara Mortuary took that burden off our shoulders. They handled the difficult paperwork, coordinated with the Philippine Consulate, made sure all of the necessary requirements and documentation were completed, and even took care of arranging her flight home. Throughout the entire process, they kept our family informed and updated so we were never left wondering what was happening or what needed to be done next. When you are grieving, the last thing you want to worry about is paperwork, international requirements, deadlines, and travel arrangements. Having a team that knew exactly what needed to be done and handled everything with such care allowed our family to focus on grieving, supporting one another, and saying goodbye to our aunt. We are in awe of how smoothly they handled such a complicated process. What could have been an incredibly stressful and overwhelming experience was made so much easier because of their guidance and dedication. He was living in Ojai when we would visit him at his home and studio. One visit he said he wanted to go check on his headstone. So we drove from Ojai to Santa Barbara so he would visit his gravesite. It's a few steps from his sister Ellen, who died of the Spanish flu in 1918. It was a tragedy as she was a teacher and had been nursing children who were sick at the time. She contracted influenza and she and her unborn child died in the pandemic. She has a large rough granite headstone . Their parents are also a few more steps away, August & Emma Dominique. Whenever I'm in the area or traveling through, I always stop to visit this serene cliff top sanctuary. It is epically beautiful in all seasons. The chapel is also magnificent with its frescos on the wall. An intimate space to pause for prayers of remembrance.

The boys don't totally get death yet, but I'm glad they have a nice place to visit their forebearers. They had very competitive pricing (beats the cemetery pricing) and a nice variety to choose from. They had benches and other items available too. We went with a beautiful black marble stone for my grandparents and it'll take a few months to complete but we were pleased with the experience so far. Next week we should get a visual example of what we've requested and how the final item will appear. The gentleman that helped us made us feel like old friends instead of customers. He got to know us and had patience with us during the selection process while helping us stay joyus during what for me was a difficult time. We've seen their work at other loved ones gravesites so we know they do wonderful work. Highly recommend them if you're out in Oxnard.
