Historically, I have had trouble starting and maintaining a strength training program due to my busy schedule and not really knowing what to do. Mint has been perfect for me due to the fact that I am on a set schedule and my trainer works with me to plan my workouts based on my physical needs. They rotate my plan every couple of weeks to ensure I am working my entire body. Since joining Mint Condition Fitness I have gained muscle mass, reduced fat, reduced my blood pressure, improved my cardiovascular performance, and most importantly improved how i feel overall. Anytime I have any kind of physical issue crops up, my trainer adjusts my program to help work through the issue and also make improvements to help improve my body in that area. I really can't say enough good things about Mint. The people are great, the environment is supportive, and it is a place I look forward to going to for every session. Best of all - the program works for me and has got me going to the gym.

It's a great spot for your classic gym work-out's, but also as a change in pace for those who work from home (there's a separate work space where you can also rent out private room). Noise level is typically lively. Parking in the main lot is difficult especially after work or at noon (during weekday's) and is generally packed during the weekend - of note, there's an alternative parking lot to the side of the main lot for Bay Club-specific parking (approximately 5min walk). SERVICE Service was friendly, overall, as you're typically greeted by those at the front desk, which is lovely. I'd say there is room for improvement for my tour/meeting with the membership director when I first looked at Bay Club Courtside, as it felt that my question's were more of annoyances and that he wanted the meeting to be over with sooner than later. STANDOUT DETAIL What stood out most to me was the overall atmosphere and vibe - it feels like I'm going on vacation to a resort everytime I enter (rather than a gym). I've never paid a monthly fee for a gym until now, and I'll say it's absolutely worth it! Overall, I'd highly recommend Bay Club Courtside!

The staff are friendly and welcoming, from the front desk managers to each and every instructor. Each instructor has a different vibe -- and they're all great. From time to time, the studio runs different fitness challenges, which helps foster the community atmosphere. Atmosphere: The studio is set up into three different sections - one for spin, one for strength, and the other for yoga. The facilities are modern and very clean. It's nice! Classes: The signature Spenga workout is 60 minutes - 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength, and 20 minutes of yoga. The Spin classes ramp up in intensity based on your own performance over time through increasing your "sweet spot." This is nice because you can see how much you improve over time. After a SPENGA class, I feel like I've had a great workout and love that it ends in yoga. The mix of all three parts works so well for me. I'd gotten out of the habit of working out -life got busy. And SPENGA has been great for me to get back into the swing of things. I've gotten good results in terms of fat loss and physical performance. I can't wait to see what the next six months has in store. I'd absolutely recommend giving it a try if you are looking for a new fitness activity in Los Gatos.

With only 4 classes (and more counting) under my belt, I find x2o Elite as a compliment to my current workout regime. I do Pilates a minimum of 4x week and having been doing so in 3 years, I feel like I've plateaued even with the various styles of trainers. Enter x2o Elite. It's a circuit style workout formated at 50 minutes, 5 students, and 1 trainer which honestly, the optimal size for me. It can't get any bigger (maybe 1 more) given the cozy size of the studio. All trainers have a friendly approachable and KNOWLEDGABLE style and there are various offerings: HIIT & Burn, Lift & Burn, Sculpt & Strength utilizing a squat rack, treadmill, free weights, TRX, SKiERG, etc. I did notice that there are only so few 5lb and 10lb weight dumbbells because... I'm weak and if there's another weakling like me-we're competing for use. There's also a cool little sauna which I don't know if/ when we can use? More of an observation rather than a comment: unlike the other studio, you can no longer get any visibility on how many other students are in your class (I hate beign a loner aka focused on lol). There's a restroom in the back. tl:dr: solid weight training gym for those who need guidance/ correction but don't like to get focused on the entire time. They do offer 1:1 if that's something you're interested in. No classes on the weekends (for now). Bring your own water bottle, wear proper shoes, and come ready to WERK.

It is important that I cultivate the Pilates Habit! as I have some fragile bones in my hip, an issue with balance, and for sure poor posture from fifteen years of writing at my computer. I am now conscious of my posture while at the computer, practice expanding my breathing most every day and squeeze my core muscles when I am walking. I find Grace in be a daily presence in my life as she inspires me to practice what she is teaching.. Every time I work with Grace, she is positive, warm, and consistent in teaching exercises to help with my issues. Grace is a great teacher as she can key into what works to help you learn. I have found her to be an amazing Pilates teacher with physical therapy skills. Grace is 100% focused on delivering a service and does not push sessions on you. Each time I take home my list of exercise which help me in my practice. Due to the fact I have deadlines on my book, she has been flexible with my Pilates schedule. Grace is skilled at adding in just enough to improve my routine but does not overdo it. It is a private facility and dock; the boathouse and facilities are shared with Santa Clara University Boat Club, which also has an active and successful program at Lexington Reservoir. Public parking is however available in the parking lot. The Los Gatos Rowing Club (LGRC) is maintained in cooperation with Santa Clara County Parks & Rec, and provides rowing opportunities for youth and adults in the South Bay and beyond, including Santa Clara, San Jose, and Santa Cruz regions. The Los Gatos Rowing Club is a California non-profit {501(C)(3)} corporation. Currently, with the exception of the coaches, volunteers do all of the club's work. HISTORY of the LGRC The LGRC has started on Lexington Reservoir in 1979, and trained over 2500 student athletes to date. The LGRC alumnus participated in the Olympic and other world competitions. Both competitive sweep rowing and sculling programs are offered as part of the adult masters program. LGRC's junior rowers won multiple national titles. LGRC provides summer camps and classes for middle- and high-schoolers, as well as adults, together with Santa Clara County Parks & Rec, within various outreach programs like Wounded Warriors and Row 2 Recovery (for cancer survivors and their caretakers, family, and friends). The old boathouse that used to be on the dam for 10 years since the LGRC inception was destroyed in a fire. A group of dedicated parents and coaches raised loans, grants and donations to finance acquisition of land, build new boathouse and buy full set of new boats and equipment. The club used a temporary boathouse of storage containers while all these efforts were underway, over a period of about 1.5 years. New boathouse that is currently in use on Alma Bridge Road overlooking Lexington Reservoir was completed in 1996.

As such when you are all in the same boat, you need to know that the person behind you and in front of you is as committed to the goal as you are. When you are neck and neck with another boat in the last 100 meters of a race, you need to know that the people in the boat with you are putting everything into winning like you are. Believing in your team mates is everything. Hence, the purpose should be to make the fastest boats. Unfortunately this program appears to be more focused on revenue generation. Kids that have been rowing for months are all of a sudden teamed up with newbies who don't know what an oar is. Kids don't show up for practice on a regular basis and because the focus is to keep the money coming in, the coaches acquiesce to the kids and blow it off. As such the kids who are determined, become disillusioned when rowing with uncommitted team members. In a program run by a school, if you miss practice, they bounce you. You don't show up, you teammates lose faith in you, and when you are fighting for that win in the race, they need to know you have put everything on the line. If you can't show up to practice, clearly you mind elsewhere. Being good at rowing will get you entry to great universities. I WISH there was a high school locally that had a rowing program. LGRC has coaches that have limited if any experience, appear to be in a transition in their life between college rowing and a real job, and even the experience is from schools with marginal programs. Redwood shores has better programs, Redwood Scullers, Oakland Strokes, NorCal rowing, if you want to drive 40 minutes each way.
