We enrolled her this week after several weeks of trying to circumvent the system a bit and I have to say that the atmosphere and people at Northwood are very comforting and welcoming. The school was closed for 25 YEARS and this year was only the 5th graduating class since re-opening. It is a small high school of only 1400+ students which is a good thing and we are thinking positively and looking forward to a good year. The counselor that enrolled us took a lot of time to talk about our student personally and try to fit her schedule to her in ways that would make her feel comfortable coming in as a new student which was a very unexpected and personal touch. Not at all bureaucratic. Only time will tell but our initial impression is positive!

Lowell has done so much to support our kids academically and socially, including during the difficult pandemic years. The teachers are first-rate and the small classes and first-name basis with everyone has helped our kids feel like they are part of a real community that has a set of progressive, shared values. The campus is awesome, too, from the classroom spaces to the beautiful outdoor front field and playground spaces, plus being across the street from Rock Creek park. I was a public school kid, but my wife sold me on the benefit of a K-8 school, and I'm so glad she did. The parishioners of St. Andrew the Apostle are very blessed to have Fr. Leary, a holy priest, as their pastor.
