We had a neuropsychological study conducted and found out our son has ADHD and dyslexia. Where the other schools were unable to teach him effectively and even categorizing our son as a behavioral problem, McLean understood his struggles and brought him to grade level in 2 years. The school is a very supportive environment for the students but also for the parents. It is a supportive and engaged parent community and I am proud to be heavily involved with the Parents Association. In reading some of the reviews, I am saddened to hear that other families had issues with bullying. When we were made aware of another student engaging in bully-like behavior with our son, the school reacted swiftly and addressed the issues. We look forward to continuing with McLean for the foreseeable future.

It is very clear that the staff are very collaborative within the entire program. My child looks forward to going to school everyday. Her teachers truly know her, and have built a wonderful relationship with all of their students. My daughter is thriving both academically and socially! My child is going to very prepared for her transition to kindergarten in the fall, and I know it is because of the education and supports she receives from Easterseals.

It subscribes to the "play as learning" pedagogy, which after researching it, agree with. Lots of literature supports it. Unlike other pre-schools which are like boot camps, this is about building confidence and developing their brains - not rote instruction that doesn't promote long term brain development. We had a decent experience at Kindercare in Gambrills when we first came to town, but when we were able to switch to Crofton Children's Center, my son really started to flourish. I've seen this with several kids who came in a little shy.... they get such lovely TLC here that they just blossom. I couldn't recommend CCC more highly. I looked at all the available daycare/preschool options when we first moved to the area and am glad we went through the wait list process and held out for the placement here. It really feels like the very best possible preschool for us.

There is currently a new director who I did not experience at all as my children were already enrolled somewhere else. Like a number of childcare facilities there has been quite a few teachers who have come and gone. However, I know there are still quality teachers there. Ms. Simret, Ms. Judy, Ms. Toni, Ms. Genie, and Ms. Vanessa, are all teachers I've had personal experience with and hope Greenwood is doing all they can to keep them there. There was a recent merger with Sunny Days, so hopefully this helps with teacher stability as well. I know Sunny days had teachers who had been with the facility for quite some time. My children learned and thrived while they were here and still talk about Greenwood. Overall, I think it's a great facility with the chance to be greater. Federal employees have preference here with general community members without a child currently enrolled there being last in order preference. As a parent, what more can you ask for? Our child is also in Room 4 (Ms. R's class), same as the previous reviewer, and we've never had a problem with her not greeting us in the morning or witnessed her on the phone. All of the instructors in that classroom greet us in the mornings during drop off and in the afternoons during pick-up. They also fill us in on any particulars about our child from that day or the day before. They always seem happy and positive (even when it looks like they've had a long day). One of our favorite things about the school is its diversity. My child's classroom is extremely diverse, and it's one of the main reasons that we picked this school. We were unaware of Laurie's pending retirement until reading the previous review, so thanks, person, for spilling the beans on this very public platform. Excellent outdoor track and field…read more Free to use and open to the public when school activities are not in process. I used to receive email updates for when the track was opened or closed, but I probably no longer use that email address, so I'm out of the loop. I used to come here with a running group to do track speed work and speed drills. Another time I used to come regularly was for a weekly boot camp group that met where during designated week nights. Nice 8-lane track. Standard 4x around is mile. There are bleechers so some people run up and down those as well. Public restrooms are available and in working order when I was here and easy to find at the entrance. I am not certain where parking is. I lucked up and usually find parking on the surrounding neighborhood streets. I am sure there is a school parking lot around the corner or something. Plenty of people out for brisk walks and jogging around the track and others were playing American football and soccer in the middle of the field. Highly recommend!

At the risk of sounding like complete snobs, we have a nanny during the week, but use Bright Horizons back up care through our work in case our nanny is sick or on vacation. Here are the pros and cons of this location: Pros: - It's cleaner than other locations and much more organized in each classroom. Both times we've used it, the front desk experience has been odd, but once you're in the classroom, they are organized. - The staff are more engaged, friendly, and competent. They are the type of people you'd want to take care of your child. -The classes are capped so there isn't a flood of children allowing more attention to be given to your loved one. Cons: - If your child is quieter, it's easier to get lost in the pack. This isn't a Bright Horizons issue, but a daycare issues. It may socialize your kid, but for newborn babies, it's easy to get lost. If you're in a bind, this is a great option for back up daycare.

Our family, unfortunately, had a very poor experience at Bright Horizons Rosslyn early this year…read more(February-March). Our son was ~6 months old. Among the many issues were these major ones: - There was little to no consistency in caregivers and poor communication between the caregivers coming in and out of our son's classroom, so there was no predictability for him in his day and he had a hard time adjusting. We often found front desk administrative staff filling in for trained caregivers. - There was no separate napping area in our son's first classroom, and in fact his crib was right next to the area where circle time happened so he had a hard time settling (his morning nap happened to fall during circle time). In our son's second classroom, his crib was next to a boom box playing loud music and a disco ball projecting colored lights onto the wall. Needless to day, he had a hard time sleeping. The directors were surprised when we suggested white noise versus music and said "he will adjust in time." We saw no improvement over 6 months and our son was sleeping ~1-1.5 hours/day, on a good day, when he should have been sleeping ~3-4 hours/day. - I observed some caregivers being physically and verbally rough with infants. - There was poor adherence to the cleanliness standards that BH advertises. I raised these issues with the director and while she made many commitments to improve the napping environment, caregiver consistency, and other things, we did not see any changes and moved our son to another day care center. I do not recommend.
