What a wonderful surprise, this place is a delight! It's nice to see small businesses flourish in…read moresmaller suburbs and Nga's kitchen appears to be doing very well for themselves. The restaurant itself is unassuming, located in a line of shops just behind the medical centre off fordholm road. This place was actually recommended by my dad who received a sceptical retort from me when I told him I was hankering for a really flavourful pho- sorry dad. Arriving on a Sunday evening for dinner, the place was fairly quiet. I place my order of beef pho and dim sims for takeaway. Not even ten minutes later my food was handed over, hot and fresh and ready for me to inhale at home. The beef stock was delicious. Dark, rich and plentiful- exactly what I expect. Served with the usual suspects- rice noodles, beanshoots, lime, fresh chilli, mint and of course, thin sliced of beef (served raw but given I had to drive 10 minutes home was actually cooked sitting atop the rice noodles). Everything about the meal was exactly what I had been craving. The red chillies were insanely hot (or Edinburgh has weakened me) so my tip would be not to big down a whole slice. The dim sims were so delicious. Hot, crispy and clearly homemade, they were flavoured really well and so moreish. I will definitely be going back whilst I'm on my trip and highly recommend this place for anyone who's also over having to drive towards the city for a good pho.

Newish springvale eatery that specialises in local dishes from Hue Vietnam. I've had a lot of viet…read morefood and thought I knew it all. I guess not!!! It took me time to go over the menu as I had never heard of some of the things / variations offered. I guess it is the regions take on some of the popular Viet dishes... There is a section on the menu for Kitchen's Specialisation... As I was going through this, the owner who looked like a reformed viet gangster came across and started talking to us. Nice guy.. :) Went for #137 (Bánh t), #5 (Banh Loc) .. and the broken rice on a hot plate. cus the dude suggested it. I told him that there is no where in Springvale that serves good Com Tam anymore.. and asked whats so special about his broken rice... he said try it... you wont regret. serving it on a sizzling plate tastes better he says... I couldnt agree more. The sizzling plate also makes the broken rice a bit harder at the bottom, almost like a claypot. Which was an interesting twist. The Pork.. I haven't had this good in a while. Not the best I have had as it still lacked the flame grilled flavour. But great all the same. Banh Loc - I've not tried this before... very similar to most of the "banh" style dishes but wrapped in banana leaf and not heavy. Banh Uot - is very similar to the normal banh cuon (translucent rice noodle rolls) that I am used to however this variety... the "uot" (opaque rice noodle rolls) which means wet banh uses a thicker noodle sheet as wrapper and the filler used was small amounts of pork. I think marinated grilled pork.. the 'cuon' uses those ear mushroom / fungus thingies. and the pork is finer. Arrrggg .. Anyway... bottom line... its frekn YUM! just go try it! :) and no I dont have shares there and the reformed gangster owner has not threatened my family or anything!! PS: the observation of the dude is in jest only! please dont track me down. :)

Brought the lemon chicken lunch pack about a week ago; it was as part of a deal they are having…read morewhere you can get something like lemon chicken or beef stir fry (can remember off the top of my head), and you would get a can of soft drink (your choice of soft drink) with it. I actually got the lemon chicken for a friend and she said that the chicken itself was cook through perfectly; was too hard nor too soft - keep in mind that I left it in the container for about an hour or something and yet the chicken was still quite churchy. And the batter was applied just right, not too much or too little - thats what gave it that golden look in the picture. Almost all the ingredients you ordrr, such as veggies are all freshly brought regularly. However, the lemon sauce used was a bit too strong my friend found it. Even I tasted it a liitle bit and found that the taste of the sauce was quite sharp & overpowering. That actually got me thinking if it was meant to be poured straight onto the chicken or was it meant to be watered down by being mixed in with a little bit of warm water. The restaurant itself is a bit cozy, by cosy I mean it's quite tight. Normally customers just come-in, place order, & come back to collect their meal. Hardly ever I've seen people sitting down - therefore there is literally no point having tablets and chairs inside a building that already have restrictions in open space. However regardless of all that, I still wouldn't be comming back here nor recommend this place to anyone. The savice here is soo bad, it completely ruined my experience and just put me in a bad mood. When I walked in I was greeted by an elderly female employee but it was in a tone which can be considered very arrogant, rude & aggressive. At first i thought that, that was just the nature of how she talks; however I did notice that towards some people she spoke in a much gentle tone compared to me and other people she gave them the same treatment as I received. Normally I would walk away from any restaurant that gives customers such a disrespectful treatment (I mean seriously - money is money, business is business, you need to treat your customers equally, not show absolute disgust to some, and show completely and otter love & respect to others) but Noodle Johnny was the restaurant nearby that made chinese cuisine, so really I didn't have much choice. Thats a shame because I would sincerely love to come back here again but unless they do something about that customer service problem, thats not going to be happening anytime soon.
