Nonsuch Amusements sit quietly just around the corner from Saltcoats cinema and amusement centre. It's a family friendly arcade full of helpful staff and has lots of grabbing machines lining the walls near its main entrance.
As far as arcades go, it's got a lot of up to date interactive games. There's a massive Deal or No Deal simulation, where you can win a number of tokens to collect a prize from behind the counter, car racing games, Dance Dance Revolution and the 21st century version of Mariokart (which is awesome fun for only a pound!) You can win anything from punchbags to pricey items - you could even walk out with an IPod Shuffle if you're a pro. But I was satisfied with the timeless two pence machines and dabbling on the puggies!
While we're on the subject of puggies, they split the arcade in two so there's an over 18s policy for machines that pay out more. There's also snooker tables and a coffee shop if you want set up camp in there for a couple of hours. We did, and one of my friends won 40 pounds and a Hello Kitty. I spent half an hour at the 2p machines and all I got was a lousy lollipop, but such is the price you pay when you gamble! They had a few Japanese inspired grabbing machines and it was very clean and child friendly. It would be a good place to bring the family or to visit in a big group of friends like we did. read more
