I was lured here by all the good reviews I've seen, alas my experience was not very good.
It was a promising start, the decor is lovely, and at first the staff were very attentive, however during our starter (we all had toast with it), my son noticed that the toast served with his starter was made with mouldy bread!! We all then checked, and his girlfriend also had mouldy bread..... I had eaten half of mine, so I don't know if mine was too!!
During the main, I noticed that our garlic bread had something dark and crusty on the underneath, and being a bit paranoid due to the mouldy bread served previously, I pointed it out to the waitress who commented ' it's Rosemary, that's all!' And then flounced off. At no point were any of us rude to the staff... ( I don't think sending starters back because the ingredients have gone off, is too much of an issue, I could have been a lot less pleasant and understanding than I was) well, that was the last we saw of that waitress, whether or not she was just embarrassed, I don't know, but she avoided us from then on.
We had anticipated having desserts and maybe a cocktail or two at the start of the evening, but by now we just wanted to leave. We waited 20 minutes after we had finished, for a member of staff to approach us (or even make eye contact) to enable us to ask for the bill, despite a table opposite us with 3 lady diners having 2 members of staff at once waiting their table.
It was a very disappointing experience, and although the waitress initially apologising for the mouldy food and insisting ' it should not have happened' we were pretty much ignored from then on. They did say we didn't have to pay for the starters (I would have refused to anyway).
Given that we sent the food back for a valid reason, and didn't kick up that much of a fuss, it would have been nice for the restaurant to acknowledge this and perhaps a manager come to apologise, the offer of a free drink etc, instead, we were generally ignored.
Will definitely not go back, and based in our experience will be advising people as much as we can to avoid it, as if you cannot provide the basics of fresh ingredients and good customer service it's a non starter. read more
