The pizza is always great. It's a small place but I've never eaten there, only takeout. Very much a NY style pizza up on the Canadian border. Ok, I know I'm always updating this review but man- if you are up in this area, get yourself to Nomad's ASAP! We stopped in on opening day and enjoyed an incredible meal- started with the hangover fries (the combo of ingredients is unmatched) and some wings! Everything is packed full of flavor and our 3 year old even loved the wings! We ordered the Penn Station Pie and it's so fun to watch the pizzas being made in front of you! I'm obsessed with the longs islands here and they also have 12 beers on tap! The service is top notch, our severe was a taller blonde haired girl and she was excellent. The pizza is really good IF you can find them open. This is the 3rd time we have arrived during business hours to find them closed!!! We even called to make certain they were open as we were driving from Fargo on our way to Baudette. We were so hungry and extremely pissed to discover them closed AGAIN. this is one place I would NOT recommend stopping. The first I stopped there it was the Fourth of July. When all the customers went out to watch the fireworks they locked the doors on everyone. There was people trying to knock on the windows to be let back in to get their stuff. Fast forward this year, try to stop back because I'm camping there. My family and I walk up to have a beverage and a waitress meets us outside to tell us they're not serving anymore tonight at 6:30 pm! there's still people sitting outside on the patio and tables inside and this is what we get. The margherita pizza was second to none! The shoestring potatoes with some added cheese and bacon were so delicious too! Our little guy absolutely devoured the chicken fingers! I waited a week to write this review to give me some time to cool off. So all I can say is this place has horrible customer service. So on the 4th They said the were out of food and beer which kind of surprised me. I causally said how does that happen on a busy weekend, that sucks. Then some guy at the bar called me an asshole and then asked did I ever run a restaurant. While I was trying to respond he continued to call me an a-hole so I figured he had been overserved and took my drinks and left for the patio. So they are out of food beer and locked the doors, this is about 4:30 in the afternoon. There were others still on patio bringing some type of food up to the patio and the bartender starts screaming don't bring that on my patio. Well they are out of food so its not like they could have bought some from him so I didn't see the issue. I then left with my group and went to another location (Spring Steel Resort) and received excellent service. While I was there who shows up the overserved customer, waitress and bartender. So all I can figure is they had to close down to get somewhere else to have a few. Bottom line is if you can't provide good service and a product on a busy holiday weekend maybe you shouldn't be in the business. read more

This might be the best place to eat in Warroad. (well, this and the Thai place) The pizza is excellent and I'm not sure how they do it but the crust is freakin amazing. One of the best pizza crusts I've had actually. I look forward to hitting this place up every time I'm in town. Just passing thru the area and thought I grab something to eat. Service was great and timely. However the cook must look at the bottom of the pizza as mine was clearly burnt, by look, taste and smell. I was disappointed but ate what I would and the gulls loved the rest. I only took the 1 picture, would of wanted to turn the entire pizza over for a bottom view, but not possible. Quite disappointed Some might say take it back and have it remade, sorry then I wouldn't eat it! This is my second time here and the service and food were 5 Star each time. I had the Caprese salad, a slice of Pepperoni pizza, and a summer shandy. All were excellent. I've been to Warroad previously but didn't know about the Nomad until this trip. They have great food choices and a really good draft beer selection (ask for a taste if you're not sure). Being from New Jersey with roots in Minnesota I was blown away by the quality of the pizza at Nomad Tavern. Probably because owner and head chef Sal is a born and bread Jersey Boy. The dough is unlike any other you can find in Minnesota and brings you right back to the East Coast where pizza is made right. So we were told to come eat here by some local, so as band we are like hell yeah! We love supporting local bars to places we go and this place was local. Pizza is amazing! Perfect slice every time nothing could go wrong with the pizza. We ordered wings and on a scale 1-10 they were about a 5. The sauce was amazing tasting, the chicken was not. As a bar the place looks inviting and would love to have it in my home town. Service was slow, but it was busy as hell and for good reason. We'll be back. read more

I am originally from Warroad and we come back several times per year. I am so glad Warroad finally has a restaurant that has later hours, a good menu and a nice atmosphere. Our team went here between games at a hockey tournament and were a little nervous with only having about an hour an a half as we have had bad experiences before with that many people on short notice. They told us it wouldn't be a problem, but some were still a little nervous. I don't think we could have been more impressed with the service or food. Everything was excellent and everyone was finished with time for the boys to go horse around outside while the adults finished our drinks. Awesome staff and great pizza. read more
