So, yesterday my parents and I went here for beer and a cider yesterday. We had "ZEFFER" which is a genuine alcoholic ginger beer. It's delicious. The people who work there are pretty great, so friendly and kind. Definitely will be back! read more

This location is known as the Truck Bar because the bar is built into the skeleton of a 1960s Dodge Pickup. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this detail because there were just so many people in the place. The lines were long, but moved quickly. I don't remember which beer I had, but I enjoyed it. If you're not a beer drinker, they do offer wine and cocktails. The brewery has a full menu with items like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and chicken bites. We shared an order of fries and they were really good. I loved that it came with mayo. We managed to find some seats upstairs. They have large tables which is great for groups. Everyone was friendly and made space for us to sit. They have weekly events like half priced burgers on Tuesdays, trivia on Wednesdays, and tours on Saturdays. There's tons of large screens to watch games and they have pool tables as well. This was a fun spot to visit! I see why it's popular with the locals.

I was on an 8hr layover in Sydney on my way to Perth and decided to venture out to Manly via the harbor water taxi. It was in the middle of a hellacious rainstorm, so the ferry ride was definitely "lively". 4Pines Brewpub was the closest brewery to the quay, so I made a run for it and was greeted with a nice beer selection (did a flight #natch ), friendly staff, ample seating (w/a view), and respite from the storm. It was a great way to say g'day to beer in Oz! Look, like a lot of the other breweries about the place, this one was rather nice, it was just a shame that when I went to buy some takeaway, they didn't happen to offer the option of mixing and matching. Yeah, the beers were cool, and the service was fine, it just didn't stand out in the way that the other ones had.

It turns out, as tends to be the case with most of these small breweries, that the beer, well, was pretty awesome. In fact, they have a number of different ones on offer as well. Even though it seems that most of the seating is outside, they also have a pretty nice upstairs area as well, and also a restaurant. This is certainly a place to check out.

It's their most popular and came highly recommended by the bar staff who said it 'just flies out the door'. Having said that, all of the beers are quite unique and tasty- got through 6 of the 9 beers on offer and wasn't disappointed at all. Each of their beers has a little description about its background/ where it came- some of which are quite interesting. If you get a chance, read up on the previous tenant- Really cool relaxed and easy going atmosphere, full of older people and has a welcoming feel- which is a nice change to the short skirts, meat heads and delinquents you get this time of night right next door at Mona pub. Also do take aways!! All the food looked great too. I tried the margarita pizza and the chips. Both awesome. In some magical turn of events the chips somehow tasted like those cheese and bacon balls when you eat them with the dip. Something I highly recommend.
