After some research, I found Ruby and Clover on the internet and booked an appointment with a stylist. I didn't want anything fancy, just a good old fashioned wash and a cut. I did most of it online which was rather easy. My mom tagged along since she's on a non committal world tour of every salon in a 20 mile radius. She's fussy and wants stuff to be more old school where they wait on you instead of cut your hair and shove you out the back door after you pay. So, when I say she liked it here as well, that's kind of a big deal! We got to the salon and it looks like an old house from the road. Walking in, the place is decorated so nicely and they have a little boutique in the front of the salon. They have the usual hair products, but they also have local Rochester items such as hand soap, candles, gifts, wigs and a bunch of other cool stuff for sale as well. I like that the salon supports the local community! While my wash and cut wasn't cheap ($49 plus tip) I really enjoyed my experience here. Alexis was my stylist and did a good job of taking care of me. I loved it so much that I made a second appointment to get a leave in conditioner treatment a week later! My mom also booked a quick haircut with her as well and we both had a really good time. Overall it was a wonderful experience and while it's at the top of my price range, I'd gladly come back here again.

They are located under dessert oasis coffee shop and you get to them through the back door (or you can through dessert oasis but I don't think you're supposed to go in that way). They are located at the end of the hallway down 3 or 4 stairs, they previously had a smaller shop in the same hallway but are now in a larger much nicer area at the end of the hallway. They've added two new barbers in the last year, Kevin and Seth. I had always gone to Maxwell but he recently left and started his own place a little too far away from me so I switched to Seth. I had my first haircut with him about 2 weeks ago. They used to be priced $30 a haircut, then $35 and now $38 so the prices do keep going up, but they are very good at what they do. They take all credit cards and Apple Pay/NFC contactless. They also sell their own hairstyling cream but before that they used Shiner Gold which I prefer and still use. All booking is made online, and usually they're booked at least 2-3 weeks out but because of COVID everyone is booking appointments and it will probably take you a month to get in so make an appointment ASAP. I make mine every 2 weeks for 3 months in advance. You have to pay for additional things like hair washing and beard trimming which is kind of annoying but its a business and they're allowed to charge what they want. They will line your beard up for you though - you just need to ask. Also be sure to ask they wipe all the hair off your face, sometimes they don't do it and you think you look great until you walk outside and realize you have hair everywhere and look like you just left getting a haircut and have to go home and wash your face off. I don't see myself going anywhere else though. Great work guys!

Steve was great about only taking what he needed to in order to make it look presentable. Always patient, understanding..... And hilarious! Nancy has cut my three year old daughters hair. While I was slightly concerned that it would be traumatic..... She wanted it trimmed on a whim after demanding no cuts "cause she wanted it long like Rapunzel" for months. I used to have dark, shiny, luscious thick dark hair that I got compliments on everywhere I went. Then I went to a neighboring salon and asked for Carmel ombré highlights and it became a longish cinged orangish hot mess and all uneven. I had been considering a short cut for about a year having little kids and being busy, but I didn't trust anyone to cut it, and because my hair is very thick, it just looks weird. I could never get some Tswift or Jennifer Aniston looking piecey pretty bob. My stylist today at Stephen James Aveda changed that for me and gave me an awesome haircut!! Never have I had compliments on my hair so much short as I have long. My husband is in love with it. She knew exactly what I was asking and I knew I could trust her when she fixed my bad ombré and it looked perfect. I wanted it a lot lighter than if turned out, but it's so much better that I can't complain. I highly recommend this place. I didn't have to sit and tell my life story. I got to relax. The smell is amazing in there and its quiet and relaxing and sooo clean. The coffee was really good and everyone is so nice. They got me right in as a walk in too, no wait really. The stylist looked very young, not someone you'd picture as a seasoned experienced stylist, but wow, she proved me so wrong.
