I love love museums, and have been to the Appleton Museum about three times now. This last time I…read moredecided to go during their first Saturday of the month free admission, and so happy I did. The art at the museum is beautiful with a great collection. However, the only thing I wish is of this museum were bigger. While it's easy to spend 1-2 hours here, the museum does feel small compared to others I've been to. Other than that though, the collection is wonderful!

Stepping into the art gallery/shop I was created by a friendly young lady. She explained to me about the current exhibit and then allowed me to peruse the gallery. All on one floor and all Floridian artists. I always enjoy checking the art scene out in other cities and states. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio area where two gorgeous murals are painted along with the Reflections Through Flora mural on the main wall. A really serene and lovely space. This months exhibit is titled Mixed Messages and features the art of Esta Mann and Rich Schleicher. Every month the exhibit changes. Love supporting local artists as much as possible. For Christmas we like to do family experiences. Picasso's Palette was what we found to celebrate in…read moreOcala. It was so surprisingly fun and relaxing. I called about 3 weeks in advance to book a private party in their small room. There were 12 of us (7 adults and 5 children). When I called to book I spoke with Anna who was super helpful in answering all of my questions. She was also our guide the day of the party. We were able to bring in our own food and drinks for the party. I will note that the party room does not have a ton of extra space if you have a larger party. There is a counter that can be used. Once our whole party arrived Anna gave instructions on what price point to stay within (pre arranged) and sent us off on our own to choose which ceramic we wanted. Then she instructed us to pick which colors we would like. You start with 4 and can add more as needed. Then we got to work. Our whole group was engaged in their project. We laughed and had a wonderful time. Once we were finished she collected our ceramics to store until they were put in the Kiln. The wait time was about 2 weeks. I would recommend for all ages and group sized.

This center has proven to be a great addition to our cultural and artistic opportunities. I took a…read moreclass in Photography Printing last year and not only enjoyed it but was able to produce some significant prints for my exhibitions. Daughter has taken the Drawing class for a year now and says, "this is the best" often. In past few months, we also signed her up for Painting, which she is also enjoying, and most recently the American Cursive class, which will definitely be a boon to her future educational output (not to mention career). All of the teachers are highly qualified and amenable. There is always amazing artwork displayed on the wall (we have purchased two), and the Center also hosts regular meetings of the Ocala Art Group. A kudos to the director of this school for her seemingly boundless energy, diversity of class opportunities, and devotion to our Central Florida art community!

This antique mall has been around a long long time and is very well established. I looked around and noticed that a lot of what I was seeing is knick knacks and I was looking more for furniture. There is SOME furniture to be had but really not much and the prices are very high. Yes...I like knick knacky things but I certainly wouldn't fill up my house with them.

I found many that I did not have in my collection, most importantly Piney Wood Belle / Leesburg, which I have not seen for sale anywhere. This is the one that is reproduced on the sign in the park in front of Leesburg City Hall. I spent the most I have ever spent for a label for that one. Anyway, aisles not too cramped, well lit, things are nicely displayed, not haphazard piles of junk. This is one of those former large store now divided into vendor booths, like the one by Russel Stover in Wildwood, or next to Savealot in Wilwood.
