Don't waste your money using these painters. My wife was very dissatisfied with the service, we still have painted window tracks. Also, they didn't tape anything so there's drippings of paint everywhere paint still on the windows. We paid for 2 days of work but only got 1 day of work. While I was home the entire, the painters boss stopped over unannounced and didn't really greet me in my own house. He lingered around for awhile and not only made me feel uncomfortable but the painters also seemed uneasy with his presence. I feel like Nolan sub-contracts these jobs and I def got sub-par service for a top rate price. I paid $1,377 for painters to paint a ceiling, trim, crown moulding, and window trims in a 10 x 8 foot family room. I'm thoroughly convinced that I could've done this job faster and better myself since it took 6 months for this to finally happen. p.s. these painters had almost no supplies and used hair dryers that were duct taped to keyboard stands to dry spackle. read more

I can't say enough about the professionalism and craftsmanship of the employees of Nolan Painting. I first contracted with them last year to paint my kitchen and laundry room cabinets. This was a job I had debated whether or not would be worth the money. Was I in for a surprise! Not only was the price less than what I had expected, but it was much less than another quote I received from someone who had been recommended. From the start, meeting with Todd, the estimator, and then the color coordinator the project began within two weeks. I've never seen such care given in the prep work and protection to the rest of my kitchen - everything was covered! Cabinet doors and hardware were removed. Framework inside my cabinets was spray painted while the inside of the cabinet was protected with plastic sheeting. Plastic sheeting also hung from the ceiling and doorway! The doors were taken back to the plant for spray painting and returned within the week - hardware was put back on and the doors rehung. I could not be happier with the appearance of what looks like new cabinets!! My second experience with Nolan just finished last week with the painting of my entire first floor, stairwell and second floor hall. A total of five days of an abundance of meticulous prep work, furniture and flooring covering, expertly led by Eduardo, and three additional hard working employees - Jose, John and Mike. The nicest most respectful guys you could ever want to be working in your home! They are not only dedicated workers but true perfectionists in completing a job they obviously take great pride in. All while this job was being done every day a supervisor from headquarters would check in to see how everything was going. The inspection of each job is amazing. The best part, I know how philanthropic Nolan Painting is when it comes to supporting the many good works in our community. They have been generous sponsors and contributors to so many great organizations in the Delaware Valley. But what I have found truly remarkable is how proudly and gratefully their workers speak of the caring philosophy of management and how they treat their "team" with equality, respect and kindness. We asked Nolan painting to come back a few years later to give us an estimate on inside work. They sent over a strange manic guy who I found frightening. When I called Kevin Nolan about my experience he told me that they didn't want to work with me. So I'm guessing the estimator they sent was a family member. The man they sent made me feel very uncomfortable and this was not like our first experience with them. I've moved on. There are other good painters around. read more

The estimator was great, but the work crew was disappointing for the cost. The place is an active remodel with several work crews on site sharing the driveway (which is long but gets congested near the house). Instead of Nolan sending the team in one company vehicle they showed up in separate vehicles which made things tight. We heard from other crews on site that they didn't cooperate well when it came to vehicle management. So, if you set up a job with them in a similar situation, be sure they know where you want them to park to avoid unnecessary confusion or tension if you have other workers on site. We had originally said we wanted high-gloss for our trim, but the estimator talked us out of it and we went with a product he recommended. When applied, it had almost no sheen to it at all. That's quite a gap between stated desire and end product. In hindsight, we should've asked to see a sample or they should've offered to provide one. They did almost all the trim in one room before we caught how flat the finish they suggested actually was. It was like primer. They suggested another product, then charged us to do it over which was a poor way to resolve that particular disconnect. At a minimum, given we deferred to their recommendation, they should have offered to split the cost - but no. And when I said as much to one of the Nolan family members his response was "he doesn't usually make suggestions." But he did and we trusted him so I guess that means, we shouldn't have trusted you. Got it. They make something of a big deal about their prep work and protecting everything but when I stopped by mid project, they were doing some work in a bathroom, spackle compound and dust were all over the tiled floor we had just had installed the week before. When I asked why it hadn't been covered, the guy said "Oh, I thought it was old and going to be replaced." What? Whether it was old or not is irrelevant, protect your work space. Or ask if you aren't sure. When they said they were finished with the project as a whole, we went onsite to see. They hadn't painted the tops or bottoms of a single window in one large room (about 6 windows) as evidenced by the spackle dust on the tops of everything. They left our utility sink full of used brushes, didn't remove their plastic drops around a built-in leather booth in the kitchen, missed spots on ceilings, walls, and trim. In the end, we had a punch list 2 pages long of things both large and small. Things ranging from how they left a chilled water bottle to create a sweat ring on unfinished wood of the kitchen cabinets to not ensuring the place was secured when they left one night; a window was left wide open in a bathroom and it was going down to the teens that night. It seems prudent if the last people out of a job site that you have the responsibility to ensure the work-site is safe and secure. If we hadn't randomly stopped by at the end of the day it would've been a very costly mistake. We met on site with the estimator and one of the owner's sons whose attitude was stiff and indifferent. He agreed the work should've been better AND said how great his team is. At one point he said the foreman was upset about the feedback I'd been providing. Get over it. We paid you thousands of dollars to do a professional job expecting high quality and ended up with 2 pages of things that were missed. If the team were so great, how'd that happen? It's also not the job of your client to bolster the ego of someone who can't handle direct feedback about his crew's work. At one point, I thought they'd gotten paint on our chimney, realized I was wrong, and then apologized to him for it. That's what you do when you're wrong. The Nolan who walked through with us said they'd come back and that he'd personally be on site to ensure the punch-list was resolved. We gave him the list, again they claimed victory. They missed half a dozen things on the list and we found new things like new paint strikes on colored walls from the white trim paint touch-up (we're talking inches long). All Nolan needed to do was walk the space, list in hand, and make sure each item was addressed, but he didn't. When we emailed both the estimator and Nolan to tell them we were cancelling the remaining contract - and why - the Nolan we'd met with didn't responded, but instead had the estimator do it. No apology and no accountability for the owner's son's inability to ensure the punch list we provided was resolved per his word. We did get a "we stand behind our work" and a promise that they'd have made things right if we'd given them a chance. "Pssst! We did give you a chance - with a list - and you didn't make things right." At their prices there should barely be a need for 2nd, let alone 3rd chances. read more

Emailed the company to have an estimate done, and try to set up an appointment via Email. I explained it was hard for me to use a phone during my work hours of 7am until 6:30 pm because of the nature of my work. Their phone hours are 8 am to 5:30pm Monday thru Friday. I explained to them I was the homeowner and could meet their estimator anytime on Saturdays either this week or next. I got this response: We are sorry to inform you we do not have an estimator to service your area at this time. We had our upstairs painted about a year ago. Nolan gave us the lowest bid and was able to do the work in our time frame. The job was completed on time with no issues. There was actually an issue with the color or the paint which was not their fault but was corrected same day with no delay or issue. The best is yet to come. The job came with a two year warranty. About eleven months after the job we noticed some cracks in the ceiling paint and some bleeding streaks on the walls. We called them back, we expected some additional costs. Much to our surprise and satisfaction there was none. Nolan redid the entire job without giving it a second thought. To say we were impressed is an understatement. This company stands by its work. We had a very strange experience with Nolan Painting. We bought a new house and had seven weeks before the move. We made an appointment for an estimate to do prep work that included minor wallboard repair (some nail pops, minor cracks, nothing serious) and painting of the entire interior of our 3,400 sq. ft, house. The gentlemen that came looked around and told me that they don't do work like ours because my idea of prepping for paint and theirs may be different. (???). The Nolan salesman who came to our house was very personable and explained that his quote would be higher than others because they are better than others. We were told their painters were exceptional and we would recognize this when the job was done. They painted over 4 days most of our home. I was very disappointed. I had to bring them once and probably should have brought them back again. There were over 10 places that they missed painting the walls near the trim. The guy that came back was obviously annoyed and hardly spoke. After he left I happened to drop something on the floor in our painted powder room and saw they never painted the wall behind the pedestal in the pedestal sink. I have worked with Nolan Painting on several occasions now, on both interior and exterior work, and have been very pleased with their responsiveness, price and professionalism. Recently, however, I was blown away at their willingness to go above and beyond! Having wrapped up a rather large project for my Dad, we soon found ourselves calling Nolan back, as another contractor had visibly damaged one of the walls that had just been painted. We asked for someone to come out and repair it; they quickly sent out their estimator and scheduled the work. But I never received their invoice... and when I inquired, they thanked us for being loyal customers and said there was no charge. I have worked with Nolan several times and I can say that while the crews on site are ok, their costumer service/management is horrendous! Last year they were contracted to put up our Christmas lights- they came out several times over the course of two weeks to light up 3 trees. The job wasn't even completed (only 3 hrs in) when they started harassing us for payment. Finally, my husband got frustrated and told them to back off. FF to present when i asked for an estimate (as a courtesy, not really considering them but wanted to be nice since they were in possession of our lights) and they told me they weren't working with us. I was shocked to hear that they were in a position to turn down customers. No love lost as we would have never used them anyways but still shocking Save your money and the aggravation. If you ever encounter a problem with them they will have a snide response and dismissive attitude. Sadly, this seems to affect everyone at the company, including top management. Not once were we contacted to clarify/our side of the story. This is baffling as we have given them so much business in the past. Again, the crew is ok (when they know what they're doing) the management does not appreciate its customers . Anyone can paint a house, anyone can put up lights. Accountability and taking care of its customers is nowhere near Nolan's radar. read more

We got three estimates for our soffits and Nolan was the least expensive so we went with them. We had a roof replaced and needed our soffits painted so the roofing company, Rutter, worked with Nolan on timing. I guess because of scheduling, our soffits were scheduled after our $35,000 roof job. Unfortunately we were dismayed when we saw drips of paint on our new roof so called Nolan. They immediately had a supervisor out to inspect and then had the paint drips cleaned off so it looked good as new. A few years later our soffits are still in tact looking as good as they did when the painting was first done. S@#$ happens and it's good to know they will stand behind their job. Todd Hewish (estimator) was very knowledgeable and thorough when it came to determining the cost & plan of action for the painting of the interior of my home. Color consult was a breeze as I had a pretty good idea of what colors I wanted, but being able to bounce ideas off of someone with A LOT more knowledge than me was a bonus. The painters arrived on time the first day of the job & Ivan informed me that the job wouldn't take as long as initially thought. Ivan & his crew painted my home in just two days! The paint that they used was pealing away from our house within 2 years of painting and we hired another painting company who stated that Nolan did not prep the surfaces enough to accept the paint. They also didn't fix the fissures and small cracks in the stucco which the second company took care of. The second company was also much cheaper. They did a lot of prepping, did a great job on carpentry repairs prior to painting, and were done quickly. Workers were friendly and polite. So I called Nolan Painting and set up a appointment to have an estimate for a small paint job and spoke to one of there phone reps regarding a date and time and description of the job. I explained that it was a small job potentially 1 wall to paint. After the appointment was made and job explained I was scheduled to have someone come out in 2 weeks to look at the job. The morning of the estimate I get a call from Chris Nolan about 1 hour before the appointment time that my job is too small and will not cost more then $575, so they will have to cancel the appointment and job. Thanks for wasting my time! Make sure you don't use this company for a small job because they will not tell you this when you set up the appointment. They are only interested in big jobs. I am one tough customer. I am very particular about painters and the service they provide. Particularly as a resident of the Main Line, we have plenty of painters to choose from. Anyone can paint a house... But will they fix their work a year later if the job isn't to your satisfaction? Nolan Painters... And in particular, Tiago, were fantastic to work with. They painted some outdoor windows and doors for me. However one year later... I noticed some cracks to some of those outdoor areas that they had painted. I contacted them, and without any hesitation, they set me up with an appointment to come out again and redo the work. It's amazing that their warranty work stands up. Painting a home is not cheap... I find it interesting that Nolan Painting will give you all the places where they will work. Lots of main line areas, Montgomery & Bucks, Philadelphia & certain Delaware counties. I called to schedule an appointment I want to have all rooms removed of wallpaper and paint all areas and ceilings.
