I had called multiple dental offices before this one and was treated extremely rudely, but the staff at NoHo Modern Dentistry was the complete opposite. Tati, Dr. Shani, Gen, and Kayla were all amazing. I first spoke with Kayla on the phone, and she treated me with respect, made me feel valued, and worked with me to make sure I could get the service I needed. When I first came here I had a nice enough experience as a new patient, the front staff are always friendly and the waiting room is always clean. Why the low rating? Well all the 5 star reviews must be before they started overbooking patients. They send you countless emails and text messages to remind you of your appointment and even call you (as they did to me and ask if you're able to come in at an earlier time). A full week ahead of the appt I am receiving email and email and text after text. The actual problem, you arrive and your appt time means nothing. Expect to wait in the waiting room a long time because clearly they overbooked and have a room full of patients. I walked out of my appt for the first time ever before receiving my appt summary paperwork because I got tired of waiting, not to mention more patients arriving and the phone going off. I work in the medical field and believe me there are plenty of locations that respect your time more than here. Unfortunately, I will need to find a new dentist. read more

The advised wait time was spot on -- no long wait or delays, which I really appreciated. The staff was extremely personable and friendly from start to finish. Upon arriving the ladies at the desk were super nice. I haven't had dental work in over 10 years so it was needed. I went and did the x-rays and was told about my wisdom teeth, which I am already aware of. I have great insurance I have PPO but I was quoted about $1500 to do a deep cleaning which makes no sense because I have cleanings under my insurance that are covered and I only need to pay the co-pay. I told them I don't want the deep cleaning just a regular cleaning, but the manager lady, I think that was her, came in and questioned me about my decision multiple times. When I said no, it felt like I was doing something wrong. While still sitting in a chair, I looked at my medical book to show them. This is what's covered. I'm aware what's covered I've already looked into this, but she's telling me that I need the deep cleaning in order to do a regular cleaning. I felt like I couldn't leave the room without getting the deep cleaning and I felt super uncomfortable. They were also pushing the laser treatment on my gums, which I don't know what helps with that and I read another review which they also pushed that up upon them too. Like is that a commission based treatment that you guys are doing? One of the ladies came in and did a payment plan which was fine at the moment but also I thought about why am I doing this and it didn't feel right. Since then, I have researched different dental offices, and found places that honor my dental insurance and my co-pay. This dental office is new so that's probably why nobody is seeing negative reviews. And because they are feeling pressure to write good reviews upon leaving the office. Please do your research on different dental offices and what your insurance covers and what it doesn't cover and what you should actually be paying. Don't ever let people pressure you into paying something you know is covered and on a payment plan. I know the office will read this, but please understand I do not want to be contacted by your office. Let me preface this review by saying that I have not been to the dentist in over 7 years for a multitude of reasons. I've had a hard time finding a good, honest, no frills, no scams dentist since moving to LA 5 years ago but I always get discouraged and it moves to the back burner to do list. My friend Lis posted that Dr. Rijal was offering a free appointment day for the LGBTQIA+ community this past weekend and I jumped at the chance. I believe this is yet another scamming Dentist office. I've never been to a dentist that does X-rays or had the dentist look at your teeth prior to the hygienist cleaning, but this place had me do X-rays immediately. I don't even trust that the X-rays they showed me were my actual teeth. They recommended deep cleaning right away. If I could leave less than a 1 star review, I would. I decided to give NoHo Modern Dentistry a try because of their modern setup and the $59 new patient special. I hadn't had a cleaning in just under a year and thought it would be a straightforward visit. However, after x-rays and digital imaging, the dentist told me I "definitely" needed a deep cleaning, that there was visible bone loss, and that I also needed a crown and a filling. Feeling very concerned, I sought a second opinion from another dentist -- and I'm so glad I decided to do this. That dentist reviewed the exact same x-rays and told me that none of those treatments were necessary. I did not need a deep cleaning, a crown, or a filling, and I did not have any bone loss. A regular cleaning was all that was needed. To make matters worse, my insurance also denied coverage for the deep cleaning they tried to push, which further confirmed that it wasn't justified. At checkout, the front desk associate handed me a price breakdown totaling over $3,000 in supposed treatment I "needed." This is completely ridiculous. It's clear that this office is more interested in upselling unnecessary procedures than providing ethical care. They seem to prey on patients who aren't informed, using scare tactics and inflated treatment plans to generate profit. DO NOT TRUST THEM! read more

My appointment was at 3 PM today with Kayla Clokie. At 3:30 I had to inquire about when my 3 PM appointment would take place as I continue to wait in the lobby. No one took the initiative to let me know they were running significantly late nor how much longer it would be. So after complaining, I was taken back to a room to wait some more. They insisted that they still have time to do both the x-rays and the cleaning. However, given they wasted 37 minutes of my time already and I had to get back to work I told them I only had time left for a cleaning. I felt like they were trying to maximize the dollars they could make on me by insisting that I had to get both and that cleaning could not be done without x-rays, even though I had x-rays at another dentist, not too long ago. I've been to plenty of dentists as a first time patient for cleaning and never in decades had any dentist insisted on the cleaning being tied to x-rays. So I left at 38 minutes after having wasted that entire time. I found them to be incredibly unprofessional. This is the level of service that I would never accept. In fact, there was another person sitting near me in the waiting room, and interestingly, her appointment was at the exact same time with the exact same dentist. So she too, was significantly delayed and momentarily had planned to leave. read more

I would avoid this place like the plague. I went here back in March of this year, everything was nice, clean and brand new. The dentist, Tshristi, was nice and kind and made me feel comfortable. The issue came down to the treatment plan and payment. According to them I needed various procedures done. Deep cleaning (which it seems like they tell everyone), root canal, crown, and laser gum treatment. My end total was $2,500, which made me a little suspicious considering I had insurance. Tatiana the manager even said my insurance wasn't so great it didn't cover much. I went ahead and did the payment plan (honestly I felt pressured to). I went home and felt like something wasn't right. This is also the first dental place I've been to where I've received a gift baggy with a mug as an incentive to review them. The following week when I went back for a root canal, I paid $968 for it. Immediately after my root canal I contacted my insurance where they confirmed my out of pocket cost should have been $31 for said root canal. Turns out my insurance actually covers a lot more than what I was being told there. My insurance ended up contacting them and they chalked it up to having the wrong C schedule. Two months later I was finally refunded over $1,500, after a grievance was filed. I questioned if I really needed all the work I got done. I left that dental office with a bad feeling. I'll never be stepping foot in here again. They definitely get you by making you feel comfortable and at ease. I'm also kinda wary about the amount of 5 star reviews they have, that's how I decided to go to them in the first place. If you do choose to go here, be skeptical. I can't even shop at the local Ralph's in the same shopping center because every time I see this place it makes me upset. read more
