I seen a lady coming out of the store with her dog and groceries upon arrival. I asked to bring my…read moredog in and was granted permission by an employee only for the old man to come over to disrespectfully tell me to take the dog out. I told him when I asked I was given permission and he proceeded to add even ruder and more loudly than the first time that he told me to get it out! Let me state, there are no signs saying pets are not permitted and respectfully I did ask in which I was told yes before hand. My friend and I kindly left our baskets on the counter and took our business elsewhere. I left quietly, put the dog in the car and returned to tell him how inappropriately rude he was and that I would be making this review.

It's just minutes away from the downtown and is the perfect stop on your way back for lunch after an hour or two lost in the Noggin's corn maze. The parking lot around the main building is a total gong show, so go slow and keep your eyes peeled for unaware city slickers who are all but guaranteed to step out in front of your bumper with no notice. Still, you can't really blame them-the fresh baked goods (sticky buns! still warm!), gorgeous produce, and general charm of the farmhouse is enough to make anyone lose grip on reality. You can also pick up picking bags at the cash before trekking up into the apple fields. Sections are loosely marked to show off Cortlands, Macs, Red Delicious, Empire, and many more, but you'll see most people hiking aimlessly up the mountain for about thirty minutes on their way to the Honeycrisps. You can mix any of the apples into a single bag since they're all the same cost, except for the much pricier Honeycrisp apples. We were told the following from the lady behind the cash: "If I see so much as one Honeycrisp in your bag, I'm charging you for a full bag of Honeycrisp. I don't even care." Unnecessarily serious, if you ask me. But hey...them's the rules.

Next to the petting zoo is a horse training ring where you can watch riders jump over fences and speed around turns on some of the most well cared for horses in the Annapolis valley. Market: If rummaging through trees of apples isn't your thing - and you're still craving the farm fresh vegetables, you are in luck. Alongside the U-Pick section, the farm offers a market right on site. You can pick from a variety of locally grown items to take home and put in stews, soups or alongside of your favourite meal.

What an awesome find and just an hour or so from Halifax. It's only open from May (for the…read moredelightful restaurant) until the end of blueberry picking in September. And it's well worth marking it in your calendar for a wonderful day trip. The restaurant has a fabulous menu - you must try the blueberry poppyseed dressing - on a salad, or chicken - like the smoked chicken quesedilla. They even have a children's menu. But our little ones were too little (not to mention messy) to eat in their beautiful dining room. Not a problem though. There are picnic tables just outside right next to a Koy pond and some of the gazillion blueberry bushes where you can take out a sandwich or bring your own picnic. And speaking about blueberries. This pick-your-own farm is so big, they actually have a big, air conditioned bus to take you around to the best spots to pick and then collects you after you fill up your buckets.

The mains were good but my Salmon was a bit overcooked and the Scallops were good but really didn't stand out. The biggest disappointment on the mains was the vegetable stir fry. It was bland and pretty tasteless. I would have preferred to just have some fresh beans steamed. The service was great and the setting is really wonderful. Unless it is really cold or windy I suggest you sit outside. Most people were sitting inside so we had the porch to ourselves and it was definitely the best seat in the house. Overall it is great but I would say that the mains are all almost exactly $10 overpriced. It was about $80 between two of us for appetizers, a main and splitting a desert. One of us also have a glass of wine.
