On 8/6/25, I had an appointment with Dr. Tawana Feimster to discuss my tooth #30 which had a root…read morecanal done 9 years ago by a different endodontist. It was causing me discomfort & had an abscess on the gum under it. Dr. Feimster's administrator (George) insisted I pay a $50 deductible before she examined me. I told him that according to the United Healthcare website, I didn't have a $50 deductible but he said he was told by United Healthcare that I do which turned out to be false. That was bad enough but then after taking several X-rays, Dr. Feimster told me that tooth #29 needed a root canal & she wanted to do it right then & there. I said no & good thing I refused because the next day, I went to a different endodontist who took his own X-rays & said there's nothing wrong with tooth #29. So, she wanted to do a root canal on my perfectly healthy tooth #29 & not treat tooth #30 until more X-rays were taken on 8/26/25. On 8/13/25, I have an appointment with an oral surgeon to extract tooth #30. If I could give her less than 1 star, I would. I'm outraged!

The first thing that went wrong was when I showed up for my appointment George I guess didn't put it on the appointments, but after waiting some time they did get me in. The thing is I have to take an antibiotic before I have any dental procedure. To make sure I don't have a crack in my tooth she wanted to do a 3D xray, which is about five hundred dollars which I consent to. Now she drills out my tooth puts in a temporary filling and then sets up another appointment like a month away. For the next few weeks I'm in so much pain I called and all I get from them is take Tylenol which I do and I take so much that I get a rash. Anyway when I go back to her about a month later she looks at the 3D x-ray and tells me I have a crack in my tooth and says I need to get it pulled as soon as possible which she should have told me a month ago. I had to go through a lot of pain and I could have had this taken care of sooner and the bad thing about this is she want admit to doing anything wrong when she had all the information right in her possession. I don't not recommend this Dentist.

Recently my husband had an old filling fall out. After going to our dentist, he was referred to…read moreBeam Endodontic for a root canal. When he called to schedule his appointment, he told them our insurance. They said they accepted our insurance and asked him if he planned to put the charges on a credit card. When he said yes, they quickly pounced on the opportunity to get him scheduled within a day. Never did they disclose that they were not a network provider for our insurance and would be charging us 3x more than what we would have paid at a network provider. My husband assumed that he was being referred to a network provider by our dentist office, since they participate. When he went in for his consultation, there was no signage anywhere in their office to let patients know they were not a network provider nor was he told. Absolutely no transparency. To top off the deception, when he was paying with his credit card, he was told that because we had Dental Plus, he would get "a lot of it" back after insurance paid. All the more reason for us to believe we were dealing with a practice that would honor the maximum allowable amount insurance would pay. It wasn't until after Bean contacted my husband to say he was getting a whole $58 of the $1,111 he was charged back that we realized our mistake. Yeah, that was "a lot" of it back. The insurance company did send us a check for $107 toward the bill. Still- $165 is not much of a bill that was over $1000. I went to their office to explain how deceptive their billing had been and to see if they would do anything to help us out. I was basically told that you get what you pay for because they have such exceptional service. Like no other network dentist in Rock Hill could have performed a root canal like they did. The smirk the office manager gave me when I explained that it would have been nice to have the opportunity to find a network dentist was priceless. They really think they are better than everyone else. Well, my husband might disagree. During his root canal, he was told there was a hairline fracture in the tooth. This was after drilling started. He was asked if he would rather have it extracted. When he said yes, the doctor told the assistant to tell the front desk to schedule him for another day. This was AFTER drilling started. My husband didn't want to be sent home and suffer until they could reschedule him for the extraction so he went ahead with the root canal. How is that for service? So, I write this lengthy review so that others won't be taken advantage of during a time when they are suffering from tooth pain. Be sure to ask about network participation. We learned a VERY expensive lesson that offices like this are only out to make money- at least Beam appears that way because they refuse to work with us and honor the price our insurance allows.

Went back to my old dentist where they took photos to show me and fixed it. This was the younger dentist. Talked to Lily 5/19 who told me the reimbursement request would be submitted and that I should expect the check 4-6 weeks. July 15th, sent text for status, no response. July 16th called and spoke to Lily who proceeds to tell me: she read my text and asked Barbara about it. It seems the lady who works remotely (they have a hard time reaching her) didn't submit the request. I then asked if I could speak w/Barbara and was told she's in a meeting. I then asked if there's a corp office she said there isn't one. She then told me looks like there was some kind of system problem so they need to resubmit the request and it will take the bank another 4-6 weeks to process it! I am beyond disgusted with the blame game. Dealing with this billing department has been horrific!! Now it's safe to say they're trying not pay me my money which isn't setting well with me at all. I will NEVER go near another Apex Dental again. *update Waiting for the bone graft to heal before proceeding w/the next step. The reason why I changed to 3 stars is because of their billing process. I've talked to the billing rep and front office on a few occasions because my insurance has been waiting since November for them to submit a narrative and provide the medical necessity so they can pay that portion of the claim and I pay my portion -so far they have not received it yet (I have NO clue why). The next step of this process is going to be more expensive and I can only imagine how difficult it would be for documentation to get sent to the insurer. I'm not feeling comfortable about proceeding w/this office right now! Just had my 1st visit for a tooth implant process and this was the extraction! Dr. S did a wonderful job, she numbed me up so well that she had to tell me when the tooth was extracted. She's warm and personable and patiently answered my questions-very transparent. Other than hearing the drill and feeling pressure the experience wasn't bad at all! Clearly she's highly skilled. Gisele and Stefanie thank you for assisting her and reassuring me. Now I don't feel too uncomfortable with the remaining treatment. Thank you! Sibrina
