So, a few months ago I wrote a positive review of this place, but this past Saturday, my co-workers and I went back for lunch, and it was just disappointing.
We ordered their Pastel Mix (should get 2 shrimp, 2 pork ribs and 2 cheese). we all ordered and waited for a good 30 mins, and was informed that there was an issue in the kitchen, therefore there the shrimp pastel would take longer, and so if we could have 4 cheese and 2 pork ribs. I said I would rather have 4 ribs and 2 cheese, but the waiter said, he would check if that is possible. Now, if I am to pay the same price (R$18) for the trio, id rather have the rib ones, and if I am allowed to have a mix, shouldn't I be entitled to having four pork rib ones?
What came out of the kitchen was not what we asked - but 4 cheese and 2 pork ribs. You would think that this story was resolved, right? all nice piping hot? nope. To our dismay, the cheese pastel had not melted (i.e. cold inside). the pork one was better, but not hot and fresh, but warm. Pastels (after a 30 mins wait) should be hot, crispy and HOT. So, we complained and I showed the waiter the cold cheese, and the waiter actually looked and said, "I think you guys should just cancel the order", which was a good thing for him to say, basically he knew that something wasn't going well in the kitchen and we wouldn't be happy about the end result.
While this whole pastel episode was happening, the main courses took a real long time to come out.
They lose a star from me, as the service and presentation of the food has decreased in quality. It was nice of the waiter to cancel our pastel order, but whatever is happening in the kitchen should not be reflected in the front of the house to the customers. And if they are failing in a simple appetizer, it really ruins the mood of the whole meal. read more
