Then again, my hometown didn't have a library, so a book-mobile would be the crown jewel where I come from. Honestly, George Reynolds is a serviceable library. It's got a good size, and it's probably better known, and more often utilized, for its meeting space and programming than its books. But it's a great community resource.

Even after being expanded this library is far smaller than the main branch and it still shows. The librarians sit in front and their loud voices carry throughout the whole building which makes it very distracting if you are trying to read, study or do homework.

This is a small library, but it has a really nice selection for its size. I like to request books…read moreonline and then come to pick them up after work. The staff is friendly and helpful and there are fun events and contests that you can learn about by subcribing to their newsletter. I enjoy the Science Cafe book club and have won one free gift card to a local restaurant from a contest mentioned in said newsletter. It's definitely worth checking out of you are a local. Also, there are no late fees for books here, which is an exciting feature. Of course, one must respect other readers and return books in as timely a manner as possible, but I really appreciate not having to pay. Libraries are the only place in the world where I can go and get whatever I want and this one is better than average. It's a great addition to the community.

The Norlin Library is the main library of the University of Colorado at Boulder (yes kidoes, there…read moreare more libraries on campus. In fact there is an entire library system). As a former employee, you all are going to get the inside scoop on this place. Well, the Norlin library's collection is excellent, especially for non-fiction, and is open to the public. The stacks are organized by the library of congress call-system, which is much better than the Dewey-decimal system of course, so things should be fairly easy to find, given all the terminals downstairs that can be used to look up books. The library also has many places to study for you students, and has a serious periodical section for old issues of magazines and newspapers. However, the politics of this place makes the upkeep seriously lacking. The budget is limited - like with everything else with CU - (thank you Republicans) so who gets what resources becomes a personal matter. The re-shelving in particular is fairly poor. This is not because of a lack of dedication by the student-employees nor direct mismanagement from supervisors, but instead is from severe under-employment. What this means is that there is a backorder of books that need to be put back onto the stacks, as well as a large number of missing books. I don't know how many times I've been there looking for a book that the computers tell me is there, but that cannot be found in the stacks and is therefore lost somewhere in the system. Of course the pay for employees of the library isn't exactly stellar either, so this also leads to a problem. So: this place has a huge collection but is not run efficiently or even adequately. A real shame.

I had a very disappointing experience at the library today…read more I was printing a large set of documents when the printer jammed. I'm a teacher, so I'm very familiar with these exact printers and know how to clear a paper jam. However, I also understand that many businesses prefer employees to handle jams themselves to avoid damage, so I went to the front desk and politely said, "Hey, I just jammed the printer. Could someone help me?" The employee's response was simply, "So?" I honestly just stared at her because I couldn't believe it. I said, "I can unjam it, I guess," and she replied, "No, no." I then asked what would happen to my print job since it stopped in the middle of printing. I had already loaded $20 onto my printing card because I was printing a large number of documents. I wasn't worried about a few cents--I just wanted to know if the print job would resume or if I would have to send everything through again and be charged twice. Instead of answering my question, she laughed and said, "We'll refund your pennies." The issue was never about the money. It was about getting a simple question answered and being treated with basic respect. Her comment was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. To make matters even more frustrating, it took nearly 40 minutes before I was able to finish printing my documents. As someone who has worked with these same printers for years in a school setting, I know a typical paper jam can usually be cleared and the printer back up and running in just a few minutes. Waiting that long wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much if someone had communicated what was going on or treated me with courtesy. I understand that machines malfunction. What I don't understand is treating patrons with sarcasm and dismissiveness when they're simply asking for help. Customer service costs nothing, and unfortunately this experience was one of the rudest I've had at a library.

We were given book marks with a removable cloud to plant seeds. Munchie snacks and exotic juices were handed out too. So much to see, learn and explore.

Been here twice over the last month. I want to like this library. The kids area is so small. And…read morein the morning it is in direct sunlight. And the Sun Room, is in direct sunlight. Not the best thing. They have a couple quiet areas but kids are running around everywhere. The outside will be great but not right now. Go to any other AnyThink library. Maybe fix the HVAC at Wright Farms before building a new library. Staff is always friendly. Parking lot is awkward. Do better next time.
