As a front end designer, I had no clue how my design choices were negatively affecting my clients' sites. FREE CLASSES! What more can one ask for? I got to brush up on my Photoshop skills in under two hours. The instructor was concise, full of informative gems, and I actually learned a marketable skill. I'll be checking out the online courses as well. The free stuff is perfect for hobbyists or people who aren't sure yet about committing to a design/tech profession. 3.5 stars Took an Illustrator class here recently to learn the "right way" to use Illustrator. Our instructor, Michele, was nothing but helpful and was really great at giving directions and demos. I've been eyeing Noble Desktop for a while now because they offer everything you need for computer knowledge and have reasonable pricing. They get you in with free classes and low priced one day seminars. The longer classes, like the one I took would have been AMAZING if they taught it on the weekend instead of a weekday, since I freelance so I lost days but that's a suggestion. If you are disciplined you can purchase one of their many step by step manuals for a fraction of the class, but I'm not that disciplined, so I did't do it. The class was spacious and you get to choose if you'd like to learn on PC or Mac. The set up is really great and you can see the large screen from anywhere in the classroom. The only thing that I find strange is that they truly promote working with them. I have a ton of Illustrator experience and emailed Scott several times, to no avail. So weird because they were super responsive when I paid for the class, teaching it, not so much. So if you think you'll even get an email about a possible position, you might want to think again. read more

I've always been intimidated by After Effects, but Professor Kalika at Noble Desktop taught me A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF. Took the AE level one class, and while pricey it's definitely worth it. Plus they got good discounts anyways. Definitely going to take the level 2 class. I've already gained confidence in my skills with AE, and I've been using what I've learned in class at my job already. She goes fast, but the workbooks are a huge amount of help, and Kalika was patient in answering anyone's questions. I took the graphic design/ Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign bootcamps and had a wonderful experience. I was looking for a live learning class because I had tried pre-recorded lessons on Skillshare and other platforms and kept feeling frustrated having to pause the video then hit Youtube for answers to my questions. My teacher Eugenio was endlessly patient and fantastic at helping us all through the many questions we had. I feel like I walked away with a very good understanding of the programs and a great launching point to delve deeper into each one moving forward. Nobel Desktop has inspired a new passion and shift in career for me. I took the Graphic Design boot camp that included boot camps for adobe photoshop, illustrator and InDesign online during the pandemic! I was hesitant at first to do it online however my instructor was Dan Rodney and he was so patient, lively and pretty funny with his corny jokes. I really liked my class at Noble Desktop. I only took a basic, 2-hour workshop on web development, but I got a lot out of it. We created a basic web page and I left and decided to start making a website for a friend the next day (this is actually true). Based on this, I would happily take an extended class at Noble Desktop and be confident I was getting my money's worth. There is a lot of competition for technical education courses in NYC, and I have explored a few of them. I took this same course at one of Noble Desktop's biggest competitors (*cough*cough *general assemb...*cough) and I much preferred the class at Noble Desktop! I found the instructor at Noble Desktop to much more helpful and managed his time -and my money- better. read more

I really enjoy taking classes at Noble Desktop. I just took my third class there last week in Adobe After Effects. This is a complicated topic and I went in not knowing a thing. I just knew that I wanted to learn more. I left the class understanding how to create an animated GIF, which I will use to make my company's logo dance on the screen. It's a pretty cool feature and made the class worth it. I have used what I learned in their Photoshop and InDesign classes for several years. I also like that they have a policy where you can return to the course for a refresher. I plan to take another course in intermediate Premiere Pro over the summer. read more

I recently took the Web Dev 1 class for work, and I loved it. I had a little bit of background knowledge of HTML and CSS from messing around with it in middle school and from a Web Design class I had to take at NYU. The 3 days of this class were more useful than the entire semester of Web Design I took at NYU Stern. It was definitely beginner-friendly without being too slow, and I appreciated that the teacher let me go at my own pace. Because I had a little prior knowledge, I was able to work ahead in the workbooks and play around with the exercises. Victoria covered all of the lessons in the workbooks in detail but also went beyond the book to give some of the extra knowledge she had from actively working in web design. I had a lot of questions -- about SEO, the logic of the CSS, how to do some tricks not covered in the book, where to find other resources -- and she handled them all thoroughly with so much patience. By the end of the 3 days, I went home and added a new page to my company's website, including floating logos and customized buttons, and I feel confident about maintaining our website myself now instead of having to outsource the work for a ridiculous fee. If you can't make the physical class, I highly highly recommend the workbooks. They are laid out step by step and are great for a self-starter. Instead of enrolling in Web Dev 2 (I couldn't convince my boss to give me more days out of the office!), I purchased the workbook instead, and I've had a lot of fun learning the material on my own at home. FUN. On my PERSONAL TIME. I have told almost everyone in the last week about how now all I want to do is learn coding and web design. read more

Noble Desktop is one of those hidden gems who can teach you classes for free...and do it well. I've now been to Noble Desktop for three of their free, 2-hour seminars on web development. Specifically, I attended Wordpress and Web Design/Development courses. All of their free courses are listed on the website and they happen pretty frequently. The classes are supposed to be, I like, teasers to get you to attend their longer, more in-depth and comprehensive classes. They do a damn good job, let me tell you! I was so impressed with the fact that they even have FREE classes in the city. The teachers are really knowledgable and one class actually ran over the 2-hour time frame. I was impressed with the content, ability to teach complex topics to a group of people with mixed levels of knowledge themselves, and the length of the classes. They hold the free seminars in their main room with chairs, but their actual classes take place in their side room with Macs and PCs. The classes include a Mac or PC so you don't have to lug yours around the city. So essentially, the free seminars convinced me to sign up for their Web Development Level 1 class (Jan 6-22, Tuesdays and Thursdays) for $875. If you are paying for the class yourself, without help from an employer, you get $100 off. That's amazing that they even offer such a discount. So instead of $975, I got it for $875, which should pay for my dinners while I'm out in the city past 9 pm two nights a week. Just as a side note, I took an HTML/CSS course with Girl Develop It and it was great (jumped right into CSS the second class), but this course definitely will be more in-depth than that intro course. If you're interested in learning web design/development and HTML/CSS and are a woman (ha), I recommend maybe even starting with the Girl Develop It intro course and then checking out the courses available at Noble Desktop. They have Level 1, Level 2, and many other specific courses (InDesign, Photoshop, Fireworks, Wordpress, Javascript, etc.) BIG FAN! Can't wait for class. read more

I couldn't recommend my After Effects in a Day course with Kalika more. She did an amazing job of explaining everything in depth and working with everyone's skill level to truly get an incredible grasp of the program in a very limited amount of time. The course gave you enough time to futz around with the program by yourself in between lectures, and she had an incredible way of explaining things so you wouldn't forget the intricacies. Both detailed and engaging, I am definitely planning on taking more courses here and have already recommended it to a couple of friends. Five stars. read more

The fact that they offer free seminars gives them an automatic 5 out of 5 stars. They're pretty good quality too for being an introductory seminar. They certainly give you a sense of each instructor's style and the pacing of the class. While I haven't signed up for an actual paid course, I am intrigued. I've now taken three classes at Noble Desktop through different jobs. It is the PERFECT place to learn new skills, develop old ones, refresh yourself on a program, etc. By far my favorite was After Effects in a Day with Kalika. She was so enthusiastic and eager to teach us--she threw in so many little extras that you don't normally learn without using the program yourself for a while. Every instructor at ND does an excellent job of teaching beginners how to use a program--and help more advanced students learn even more tricks. I am a very hands-on, demonstration-heavy learner and it is very difficult for me to read and teach myself skills without seeing someone else do it. The class setting is my preference but the textbooks are so easy to navigate if you want to buy it and try to learn on your own without an instructor. Highly recommend! read more

I've been using Final Cut Pro since 2002 and, for the past few years, I've had a love/hate relationship with the new Final Cut Pro X (FCPX). I've tried Premiere Pro a couple times over the years but I never stuck with it because I would get lost in translation (keyboard shortcuts, jargon, etc.). I wanted to take this class because I learn best by having hands on experience and having the opportunity to ask an instructor questions. The instructor was very knowledgable, friendly and extremely helpful. The facility is professional and their curriculum very clear and coherent. I plan to take more classes here and even buy their lesson books. read more

I've taken a few classes at Noble Desktop, some free classes to get a better sense of a topic I was interested in and the paid courses as well. Every member of the team was really helpful and the course information was covered in a consistent manner regardless of which one of the instructors I had. There always a book with class files that helps you remember the material beyond the class. Every one of the classes has been great but the stand out to me is the Sketch 3 in a Day. I was impressed and UBER happy with the Dan instruction and the content of this class. It was very well thought out and every bit of the class was useful (no Dan didn't pay me to say that). I walked out of that class ready to use and a functional knowledge of Sketch! Please consider taking classes at Noble Desktop, worth the investment. read more

I did an intro to html and css course in a day. This class was great I was happy with the flexible hours they had and the class size was small. This class had an instructor that taught us for a hour and had us do exercises right after. It was good to know that they had their own pcs and Macs so you dont have to bring your own laptop. I will recommend this place for people whom want to learn html, css and graphics classes and want flexible class times. read more

I have a big crush on Noble Desktop. The free seminars on everything from Photoshop CS4 to how to get started in web design are fantastic, and the classes for a fee are better than anything comparable I took at Parsons School of Design as a photo major. The staff is knowledgeable and approachable, and they know how to package these complex programs in a user-friendly way that's geared toward working professionals in the industry . It helps if you already have some basic knowledge, but they have classes for every level. They also have great printed and digital materials for you to take home for reference. I can't recommend this place highly enough to creatives who want to expand their skill sets. read more

I took a seminar on Photoshopping hair earlier this week and I think it was well worth it. They even include a print out that explains clear and in detail how to do everything. The instructor spoke clear and answered all questions thoroughly. They also sell books from their classes in case you can't make it to a class or in my case, if the class is too expensive. The guy who works for Noble I spoke to was very helpful with my questions about the books. You can also order them off their website and on Amazon. The staff is super knowledgable; they will answer any question you have, even questions that don't relate to the seminar you are taking (this can get annoying!) I took a intro to flash class here my company paid for and the instructor crammed into one short day about three days of knowledge on the fundamentals of flash all the way up to making our own banners. Mission accomplished! That was great but my head is still spinning. I would return here for some free intro classes they offer to see if taking a full class is right for me. read more

I took a Mobile & Responsive Web Design course with Victoria, and it was very helpful. They write their own textbooks that other schools also use, and they're pretty up-to-date (and if some software mentioned in the book has just updated, they'll tell you that and go over what's different in the new version). The exercises are clear and easy, but you still learn a lot, focusing on one area at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. On top of what's in the curriculum, we also learned some tips and tricks and software shortcuts to make it all easier, without going into lazy coding territory, which was nice. The women's bathroom is locked though, so you need to bring the key, which is kept in the entryway to the classroom. However, if you're coming back a little early from the lunch hour, and class hasn't resumed yet so the room is locked, then you'd have to walk the entire trek back to the main office (okay it's the same floor, but it's all the way on the other side) to get them to open the classroom. And then you'd have to walk the labyrinthine trek to the bathroom itself. But the course itself is totally worth it. No stars docked for weird bathroom entry policies. read more

I attended the 3 day Dreamweaver CS6 class because I wanted to learn more about how to create websites. I had only a basic knowledge of html and CSS prior to this class but our instructor, Victoria, did an amazing job explaining the fundamentals of the internet, web browsers, web site development. The "step by step" training textbook contains projects that require the reader to build the site in a such a way they learn important concepts and techniques along the way. Our instructor explained the project in advance and was experienced enough to anticipate problems we might encounter. While my classmates and I worked independently, she'd circulate through the room, answering questions, giving pointers, providing feedback. Great instructor, fast computers, the latest software, intelligently written textbook and projects. This was a quality class. read more

Very informative and free seminars on many of your computing needs. I work in the printing world and even though I know a lot, you can always learn more. The regular classes are 15-18hourish workshops that can fit into just about anyones schedule. They will run you about $900. Get your boss to pay for it though. BUT if you cant get the big guy/gal to pay let them know when you register and they give you $100 off the registration! Cool, very cool. They also offer classroom on a cd for like $200 and then workbooks for $65. Id suck it up and pay for the classes though. You will get a ton of info from it. read more

Very much enjoyed my experience at noble desktop. I did the majority of the data science certificate course, only reason I didn't complete the entirety was due to the amount of time in between the first three courses and the final machine learning course, which I decided take elsewhere but if the time frame in between wasn't so long I definitely would've taken it here. The courses are hands on and your writing code almost immediately a solid overview of the topics. The instructor Rob was very helpful answering all questions thoroughly in class and even giving advice about applying it to my field. Really enjoyed his teaching style. Only criticism was I felt the python for data science should've required some python experience. The first two days are an intro to python and many of the students were having trouble with basic concepts which I'm sure made it hard to thoroughly understand the complex topics. I had prior experience coding in python and while it was still good practice and helped me improve my skills I would've preferred to spend the whole week on the libraries and applications used for data science. read more
